  1. The good thing about Celtic is that they seem to have a few liabilities across the back. Boyata, Izaguirre and Ambrose are all total bomb scares. Gordon didn't look entirely convincing at the second goal last night either. On showings so far this season they will leak goals under pressure. Very pleasing.

They are horrific at the back.. just look completely disorganised. Hard to tell if it's purely the personnel or Mowbray's brutal tactics.

Probably a combination of the two really.

  2. I won't get to see Andy on sat then :(

    Still buzzing though

    No, you probably will...

That's just the initial doubles teams... before the France game they also slated Inglot/Murray as the doubles team.

The only way you won't see Andy Murray is if Britain are 2-0 up from the Friday singles. As happened against the USA . Not impossible by any means.

  3. Dominic Inglot has got through to the US Open semi finals with his partner, so we might just see Andy rested in the doubles rubber. The Jamie/Inglot pairing took the Bryan brothers to five sets.

    A. Murray will definitely play all three matches. (unless we're 3-0 up or down on Sunday morning natch)

I actually think the Davis Cup rules should be changed to prevent this. Each player should only be able to play in 2 matches over the three days, not 3. Makes it more of a team event, and less of a 1 man effort...

  4. Kyrgios out, Tomic in for the Aussies for the Davis Cup semi, pity, I full expected a massive heads gone from Kyrgios in front of a partisan crowd.

Nadal also returns to the Spain team for the first time in two years.

As expected John Peers not selected for Australia. Was never going to be, as I said.

James Ward beaten for the 10th consecutive match. The British team should really select Kyle Edmund ahead of him if they want to beat Australia.

Who was it that said he was a top 40 player on grass again?:lol:

How many of these 10 matches were on grass?

Good knowledge though - Kyle Edmund would certainly have a good chance of winning a singles match against Australia (hint - no he wouldn't).

If we actually want to have the best chance of winning a non-Murray singles match we would pick Dan Evans.

  5. He is right HB it will happen. Better look out the condiments.

Not sure when but it will

Are you talking decades here? Millenia?

We heard the same thing about the mythical corner pods, which are now consigned to the dustbin of history. There is just no chance whatsoever of there being a 4th stand in the next 20 years. It makes no sense.

  6. On top of this I heard that the ticket website briefly opened on Monday evening allowing people to purchase tickets for a limited time. I would be suspicious but the overall incompetence of the LTA suggests it wasn't deliberate. It was like this for the previous round with the crap code and lack of BTM tennis membership number requirements. If Scotland tickets went on sale in this manner there would be chaos. It's incredible really.

Someone I work with got an email saying "There's a problem with your order" and it was something to do with 3 day tickets not working right.

When she contacted the ticket factory yesterday.. they were able to give her new tickets.. in a different part of the venue, as she'd said "actually, while I'm here, the Friday tickets I have aren't in the North Stand like my Sat/Sun ones - they're Cat 3 tickets in the back corner"

"No problem" they said "We can sort that - here's 4 tickets in the Cat A section for you..."

  7. Exactly the same as me. I didn't have time this morning to search, I had to get to work. For what it's worth and I never do this. I'm sending an email into the LTA about this, it's got me that annoyed.

I'm not upset at missing out on tickets, I'm annoyed at the way it's been handled. I'd firmly expected to not get a ticket.

    I emailed them this morning...

Re : The Davis Cup Tickets Fiasco

I'm sure you will receive hundreds, if not thousands, of comlpaints concerning your ineptness in managing what was an entirely foreseeable tickets scramble.

    I have a number of questions :-

    1) Why was the "Priority Link" in actual fact a code that every man, woman and small canine had access to by Monday evening via social media?

    2) Why weren't ticket sales limited to 4 per person, not 4 per booking?

    3) Why weren't ticket sales linked to a database of BTM numbers, requiring a field to be filled in when attempting to buy tickets that was... your BTM number? How hard is this to do? (Those requiring priority tickets as a result of previously having attended DC matches could have had a number allocated also contained in this checkable database table)

    4) Why did the ticketing website open before 7 am on Tuesday?

    5) Why did you have a server powered by an arthritic hamster turning a wheel?

    6) Why were tickets available through vehicles other than the LTA website on Thursday, when that wasn't communicated to members? Leading to those faithfully refreshing your own dreadful site gazumped by those who more sensibly ignored you and went directly to The Ticket Factory!

    7) Why weren't all tickets sold on Tuesday? Why was there even any non-priority sale - made all the more galling by your absolute failure to manage that properly for your own LTA members.

Still not to worry - plenty of touts have managed to get tickets and resale websites such as StubHub have tickets merrily on sale at 6x the face value. Well done LTA!

Short of subcontracting the organisation of this to Homer Simpson, or perhaps Frank in "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em", I genuinely can't see how you could have made a worse job or this.

Congratulations - almost impressive in it's level of frightening inefficiency!

  8. The LTA tries to ensure that tickets for its events are sold to genuine fans.

The LTA takes the issue of unofficial ticket selling seriously. For the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas semi-final tie between Great Britain and Australia, The Ticket Factory is the only ticket agency authorised to sell tickets on behalf of the LTA. Selling tickets through unofficial means is against the LTA’s terms and conditions and may allow prices to be inflated and prevent many fans from attending. Anyone considering buying tickets from the unofficial sources runs the risk of being unable to enter on the day as the ticket may have been cancelled.
