  1. Not really. Substitute right back last night (and the first game) did OK, but no one has stood out as even near the quality we need, even for young players. First right back last night didn't look like he was used to that position. To be fair to all the trialists, they are young guys who aren't used to this level - even the level the friendlies have been at. It was actually a competitive game last night. Clyde played pretty well and had a fair amount of power and pace in their team. Good run out and the Livi game will be another step up. Only pity is that Flanny and Stevie H have missed the first two games and so will be a little bit behind in terms of sharpness. They'll catch up quickly enough.
  2. Who hasn't wanked off a kidnapper in their time. [emoji54]
  3. Well, indeed. Which was the logic behind doing it in the first place, initially when we were a part-time side in the championship under Jack Ross and then again when we were a part-time side in the championship under Jim Goodwin.
  4. Doesn't sound like the right fit for Alloa at all IMO.
  5. Every manager, no matter how good has blemishes on their record over time. Generally Darren has done well in management and I wouldn't have a problem if he was given a chance at Alloa. Having said that, I expect his chance has gone. Can never tell though.
  6. No, didn't sound patronising at all. Yeah, we are very lucky just now the way the club is being run. Always been a pretty well run club IMO.
  7. Thanks. No need to feel gutted for us. Losing managers to full time teams is inevitable for Alloa and a sign that we are doing well. Obviously if we get a useless nutter in......
  8. Another mini era ends and another high profile, successful young manager moves on. Whoever is appointed I'm confident we'll regroup and the excellent core squad we have will come out fighting and won't let us down this season. Good luck, Jim. Thanks for the last three years.
  9. Don't think it will be Andy Graham and not sure that would be a great choice. I think we'll go for a similar appointment to Goody, Ross and Hartley. A top division player who is respected in the game, is intelligent, has leadership qualities and (as a result) good contacts in the Scottish game. I wouldn't even hazard a guess as to who that might be. Would likely need to be someone who has retired recently or is near the end of his career and just a squad player now. Re Paul Hartley, really not sure how I feel. Clearly he was brilliant for us last time, but things move on and he's carrying a bit of baggage. Plus our threads would be full of brain dead Falkirk fans - although if he did well the seethe from them would be glorious. [emoji16]
  10. Good luck to Doyley at TFS next year. A great lad and an Alloa legend. Think you'll love his attitude. PS He's better at right back.
  11. Not ideal, but key for me is who Mike has lined up to replace Jim G. Difficult shoes to follow, especially with Jack preceding him.
  12. Don't include us all in the same bunch. [emoji852]
  13. Not when you're used to the quality centre backs you had last year.
  14. I'm hoping he thrives in a slightly freer role with us. We'll see. [emoji5]
  15. Agree about Dario. Think we are looking stronger already than the squad we had for the Betfred Cup last year. Another centre half is the obvious gap just now. We might have to make do until a loan comes in, but we would certainly be light in that area.
  16. Where did he generally play for QotS? I expect Goodwin sees him as one if the three in our usual 4-2-3-1 line up.
  17. 'wanks1' and 'wanks1212' Those were two others.
  18. Wish I got £1 every time a Falkirk poster says 'this level' or 'for League 1' from now to the end of next season.
