Great to see Murray Aiken back in the starting 11 but certainly not the side which will start on Tuesday.

Has Josh Rae played his last game for us? He stated on the 1924 draw that he has a scan in 2 weeks time and was hoping to get the all clear.

Well according to the match preview Airdrie will not be fielding a side of youngsters and reserves. Unfortunately it will not include Josh Rae but Murray Aiken should be on the grass at some point.

I think the fact he has a young family and is obviously enjoying his set up at Airdrie should not be overlooked. With a move to a high pressure environment where there is no guarantee that he will get the support he gets with us comes risk. I also think he will have a fair bit of loyalty to the players and owner.
Next season in the championship he brings in some more of his own signings and it becomes his team. Go up as champions and bring in more of his own good players to challenge for top 6 in the premier. Goes on to build a dynasty while his young family grow up.
This is football and everything is possible. If Motherwell can do it so can we.
I believe it would be to his benefit to stay another year but it's likely we soon won't be able to afford him. The best thing he can do for his family is to treble his salary and ultimately like all sportsmen he'll be on his way, and with my best wishes.

And maybe see the likes of Spalding, Cassidy and Watt from the bench.
It will somehow still be 1-1. Queen's Park will stay up whether through the draw being enough or winning the play-offs. The two sides will play each other in the first game of the League Cup and the league season. You might have the goalie wrong!

Although he's pretty much got free reign at Airdrie and can still play, that money would be considerably hard to turn down. I doubt he'll even be on 4 figures a week at us.
Interesting few weeks ahead. Play offs, Manager/Assistant Manager future, free transfers, new signings - then it it starts all over again!

Is Ian Murray not further up the food chain for the next bigger job, consistent performer...
Not for me, McCabe's achieved far more in 2 seasons than Murray. You could argue that the club has transitioned from part time/hybrid to virtually full time which has aided McCabe.

Absolutely and the financial benefits are massive. Football finance analyst, Kieran Maguire, had an article last week revealing that the average wage in League 1 in England was £3600 per week therefore it wouldn't be a surprise for him to head South.

And risk injury or a red card? Rest them up (bar the goalie, that’s a good shout) surely
Josh Rae back on Friday night?

I dont think Airdrie would stand in his way if a club the size of Dundee United came calling.
Maybe, but no way Goodwin is getting ditched, well until October!

Everyone has a price but Rhys has time to manage his career carefully as one wrong move could be damaging.
I must say however that I'm slightly concerned that there's been no announcement on his contract which is believed to be up at the end of season. Of course it wouldn't be smart to announce he's leaving but it would fire the club up for the play offs if he had signed a new contract. He most definitely has been offered an improved one already, along with his cousin.

In an official capacity. Rhys spoke well and everyone had a smile on their faces as we made an exit back of 11.
Did our owner not make the cut for the pics?

I’ve came along to this, a sensational midfield three. Those three or McMaster, Frizzell and Telfer?
Or G. Gallagher, Lyall & McCabe! Or Aiken, Donnell & Dunlop!

Had a wee look at our line-up for that game and although it was clearly our 2nd string side at the time, it was actually a decent set of players looking back - Gabby McGill, Scott McGill, Afolabi, Josh Kerr, Kyle MacDonald, Justin Devenney, Jordan Allan. Plus Scott Walker who played quite a bit for us and Matty McDonald. It was only the lesser spotted Dean Ritchie who was a proper reserve standard player. My perception of that season under Murray was that we had a small squad but that's not actually true, I think we just had no injuries and won every week so no-one else really got a look-in.
Scott Walker was a pet hate of mine but will be strutting his stuff in the Junior Cup final with Darvel. Kyle Hutton and Dean Cairns also there.

Ah, the match preview for tomorrow night mentions that both the manager and Murray Aiken are hopeful of seeing some game-time prior to the play offs. This would be a boost but probably unfair to expect too much from Murray.

Be a great move for him, not sure if he's ready for Premier league football just yet, don't think another year in the championship with us (presuming we don't go up) would hurt.
Would make sense as well pretty sure the keeper they have just now is loan from down south so must be unlikely they can get him back for next season. Feel like a lot of lower end premier league clubs could be looking at our younger guys for next season i.e Megwa, Rae, Hancock, Mcstravick etc
It's all if's and but's at the moment regarding contracts although Megwa still has another year at Hibs to go and it would be a major coup if we retained him. (perhaps another year loan paying his full Hibs wage)
Rhys has already said the club plan 6 months ahead so there will be deals already done both in and out but not yet announced as is pretty normal and you could tell the club weren't happy with Arbroath for leaking. Even our contracted players are not guaranteed to be here next year as they wouldn't cost a fortune if someone really wanted them.

And so it begins with the 1st departure rumour that is Josh Rae to Dundee United. Could see that one although his current injury may affect the situation.

yeah but my point is in the 90's you had how many times that number? 5x 6x not sure ?
Is there another club in Scotland that has lost such a big % of their following ? Cant think of one
Yeh might be true, but as you will see from this thread it hasn't stopped Falkirk's fans obsessing on us.

There were no bookings for either team yesterday - just like the first game in August.
The games "gone"!

It's one game, there's nothing broken and whilst I have never considered us winning the play offs I do see us beating Thistle. I'm confident of winning our home game but we must have to adapt at Firhill where the surface is terrible (pitch didn't look watered to me, probably deliberate but that's ok) and go more direct like we did at Dunfermline several weeks ago.
Of course personnel is key although our keeper is by far my biggest concern but looks like we have no option. Hopefully McCabe can get some game time prior to the Thistle games so that he can be involved on the park and whilst McMaster is having his best spell at the club, yesterday highlighted his limitations when we are not dominating and he is on the turn.

Getting into the playoffs is a fantastic achievement!
Unless Rae is back, it’ll be the first home & away matches and that’s it.I’d sooner have Hutton in goals if Rae isn’t going to be fit
Agree, whilst I'm not writing Hemfrey off, the guy needs to play more games to gain experience but at the moment I have zero confidence in him. Obviously at fault with the 2nd today and I thought he had to come and take the corner last week which Dunfermline scored from.
Any ITK's aware of our injury situation? I've seen it suggested that McStravick is definitely out for the season although I get the fact that the club may not want to announce any others.

Nice for Frizzell to make the PFA team of the year for the third year in a row. Always find these teams quite interesting, I think most fans would say he’s done well but with Telfer having the better season. Surprised Megwa never made it in too but can see why players would vote for McMillan.
If not for an interrupted season due to injury, Hancock would have been in it. I've seen it rumoured that he signed a 2 year deal, so hopefully he'll be with us next season.
Those 2 goals on the telly must have swung for Frizz but Megwa, Herbie, Fordyce & Telfer would all be in front of him for our player of the year.

I may get shot down for this but I think with Ballantyne coming back in to the team and the way McGill is creating havoc up front McCabe has found his best line up. The best is still to come from this team.
Unfortunately it looks like Ballantyne is back on the injured list again.

If he hadn't been so fond of the "wreck the hoose juice" it could have so easily been Wullie McLaren. Such a talented footballer!
When your years advance there are so many too choose from but particular favourites of mine over the years include Jarvie, Goodwin, Big Johnny, McGuire, March, Nipper, Marvin Wilson, Lovering, Allan Russell & Fordyce.

I expect the same signing structure to remain in place over the summer, however frustrating that may be.
Depends what league we're in.
