Had Gary behaved like a man and called PH then there is a far higher likelihood the issue would've been resolved.

Zero chance anyone at the club will want to speak to Gary now knowing that the content of any conversation will end up on Facebook or in the Daily Record.

By the same token couldn't PH have called Gary initially? I think we (PH) needs to be bigger than that.

    A recap on the Gary Cunningham saga;

Gary Cunningham is sitting in the family section and decides to stick his fingers up (with a rather disturbing facial expression) behind the mascot and his pals. Some of them are barely 5 years old.

The club send a communication to him personally citing an indefinite ban. Seems extreme but as someone has already mentioned, an ongoing legal case which has its roots in fan behavior is the likely driver for this.

Gary decides to make this public on an Airdrie fans Facebook page looking for online hugs and trying to create a storm.

Things die down a bit over the weekend, so he puts the same letter up looking for more online hugs. The same people say the same things as they did the week before.

The letter ends up on a Scottish Football Fans twitter forum. Some comments sympathetic. Others think Gary should be put on some kind of register and kept as far away from kids as possible.

Gary then speaks to the Daily Record. Tells the DR he has tried to contact the club by email to resolve the issue after telling the AFC fans Facebook group he hasn't contacted the club as he 'thinks I would make it worse'. Gary can't even get his story straight.

Airdrie FC say absolutely nothing while this hysterical manbaby speaks to anyone and everyone with the exception of the person he should have spoken to in the first place.  Had he done so it'd probably be resolved by now. Gary needs to sack his PR team.

On a far more important note, a must win for Airdrie today. Mon the diamonds.

Perhaps it's because the guy has attended the vast majority of Airdrie games for 40 years and that has been taken away from him therefore i believe, and an extremely high percentage of others, think he deserves to be cut a little slack.

Are you suggesting he called PH and said sorry, and that would have been that?

Surely this is more offensive that Gary C’s gesture? Will the club ban the owner of the flag? Or can the board see the funny side?

In the face of a tribunal regarding racial discrimination, you’d think the club would go down on things that might actually be used as ammunition against them (Trump flag) instead of a decent guy just having a laugh.

Now i happen to think Trump is a bit of a knob but to suggest the flag is offensive is ridiculous.

Oh Smith playing left back, what a team we are for using the shoehorn, I do agree his workrate is what should be expected from all the team, its the end product that seems to be missing most weeks,

Quite simply, if he had the end product he wouldn't be here.

The left back comment might have been a little tongue in cheek!

I can see that argument, but I actually feel Smithy is a more effective presser than Jamieson. That being said, Smithy's workrate and tenacity probably means he'd be better in the 10 than Jamieson would. I suppose no reason it can't be fluid, if they are diligent enough and keep each other honest.

Smith does like to go from out to in, those trademark cuts ins across the face of the box which so often ended in a goal second half of last season being cases in point, but I agree regards Jamieson, he looked more effective in his role versus Montrose the other week than when he's played wider.

Calum Smith will always be a first pick in our current squad, wherever he plays.

When Frizzel is back, what's the thoughts about how the team changes? Swapping Telfer or Justin D straight out for Frizz would seem the obvious, but alternatively we could reshape to a back three, those three in the middle, wing backs either side and then you've got a choice of four forwards (Gal, LJ, Smithy and Gabby) for a front 2.

Other variations upon those themes would also be possible, but it will be interesting, assuming we go with the same 11 again on Saturday, to see how we go about reorganising to get Frizz back in, which we undoubtedly will and should do once he's fit.

Great chance to go three wins on the bounce coming up, and then you'd hope to make it a clean sweep of league games at home to Kelty (by no means a gimmie) which would be much more like it. A trip to Dundee in the cup notwithstanding, going into December with four wins on the bounce would be massively helpful, given the fixtures we face that month.

Pretty sure Rhys stated in a DTV interview that it would be around 8 weeks and no doubt he'll need phased back gradually so it's unlikely we'll get 90 mins from him pre-xmas. A very important player but even more important we don't rush him back to early.

I hope his return does spark Justin back to what he showed at the start of the season as there is no doubt his performances have dropped considerably.

Abso!Utley I have done a lot worse and will continue to do so probably inside and outside the ground,is it right 'no',   you are the same GC is the same we have all done far worse,  On this occasion GC has been unlucky probably a 2 second gesture has  been caught on camera for evermore,  someone reported it, what more can we say.

GC has done more for the club than I or many on here could ever contribute,  but he acted like a fud and got caught, and I know for a fact he will deeply regret his 2 second action...

As stated in my previous post and indefinite ban is at the discretion of the club,  it could be 2 weeks it could be 2 years it is definitely not a stick on life ban...

It's a completely over the top but in line with the ridiculous woke society we now live in but there is not a single fragment of me that is remotely offended by this. It's an utter cringefest from our owner and perhaps football is not for him.

I feel so bad for criticising Lewis Jamieson, but it is for the reason that he's capable of performing like that. He needs to be played through the middle, one of tbe best individual performances I've seen for a while. I'm delighted to be wrong and eating humble pie.

I said weeks ago that I was losing patience with him but would give him a go in a 2 upfront. He’s definitely not a wide player.

Would be great for entertainment as you say but unfortunately throwing a young laddie to the wolves of our support would be an horrendous error. I can still hear the 30 minutes worth of verbal abuse and diatribe directed to our (more experienced) goal keeper after his one error on Saturday when his clearing punch left a bit to be desired. The singling out of players for completely unnecessary abuse is something which some in our support revel in and I'm not sure why they think this is likely to motivate a player to do better.

Agree, i very rarely shout abuse at players. Going back many years, one of my first games in the Junior ranks was a pre-season friendly against Airdrie where we played 3 x 30 mins periods. That 2nd period the Airdrie side included Clark, McGuire, Flood, McCluskey & Tom McCafferty. I vowed then that i wouldn't shout abuse given how shiite i was and even though the standard of player was higher then!

I’m not understanding why we’re not trying out our academy players? Surely they can’t be any worse than who’s playing week after week. Only player we have really saw a glimpse of was Gibson and he looked more composed and forward playing than the usual midfield 3. Anyone actually have any insight on what’s actually going on with the academy?

Cole Gibson showed to me he was nowhere near a first team place. He did show promise however and i liked the fact he'd a bit of aggression in him but the gap is huge from the level he's at. I'm not convinced at all about Gowser's squad, looks to be the same thing Tom Wotherspoon tried, and failed!

  11. Unfortunately there is very little we can do at the moment and we need to hang in until January transfer window. PH will be well aware that he's made a big blunder and will be planning to rectify at the moment. Hopefully it's not replacing Rhys.

There is no doubt that recruitment has been poor and Rhys is guilty on that one but to what extent? How many IM/PH signings were already in place before he was appointed?

I hope there are clauses where we can ditch our loanees in January and replace with better.

As we don't carry the huge (I hear the population of the capital almost doubles during their visits) support of Dunfermline and Falkirk I take it from the purchase options on the website all the fans are expected to fit in the 500 seat stand?

Will Ballantyne be available or has he picked up enough points to be suspended for more than one game?

    Suspended.

I think McCabe probably got my general backing until the end of the month but if we’ve taken zero from Edinburgh and Montrose (really need at least 4 points IMO) then something has to change.
I’ve seen the board getting it tight from some folk but for me, other than blaming them for the initial appointment, I think where we are really is down to McCabe and the decisions he’s made. In terms of the squad I’ve said it before but you don’t sign Rae, Ballantyne, Telfer, Lyness, ATS and retain the likes of Frizzell unless there’s money there. Bear in mind there was clearly money left in the pot to sign ATS, Telfer and Lyness. Would you have been better off signing 2-3 other players with the time and money it took to sign Telfer? Maybe. But that’s down to McCabe not the board. He was very clear about the type of player he wanted and what that meant for the squad size. I do generally agree with him about quality v quantity but you have to get the most out of your players in that instance and he isn’t at the moment. Again that’s down to him. Likewise being so open and easy to beat.
In terms of not having an experienced assistant it’s hard to blame the board without knowing what was pitched to McCabe or what he asked for. Did he ask for one and they said no? Was his first choice always Fordyce? Would he say no if somebody became available? Whatever the case he wasn’t obligated to take the job with or without an experienced assistant. If he’s big enough to take the job then, he has to be big enough to deal with any problems or consequences. Especially as they would appear to be mostly of his doing. We’ve seen how well we can play when things are going right. We’re capable of beating any team in this league IMO and we’ve already dished out a few pumpings and could well do a few more times. But we’re in a bad way at the moment and he has to fix that and quickly.

Problem with the player/assistant scenario is that we can't afford to get shot of McCabe and Fordyce due to how small the squad is at the moment. I do agree with you if we lose to both Edinburgh and Montrose I think something had to change. Would an experienced manager coming in someone like Paul Hartley for instance, mean that it would cause unrest in the dressing room it's a difficult one and there is no easy fix.

You can't dump them, even if we do lose the next 2 games.  Would there hearts be in it if they got replaced as a management team and retained as players, doubt it.

It's impossible to tell whether Rhys is a good manager or not after such a short period of time and I still retain faith in him even though i do think he's made more than a few blunders in his signings but i still believe the budget has played a big part in that.

Once again the bigger overarching issue and narrative is the seemingly hermit like status of our owner/chairman/stadium chief PH. I've mentioned before that it's always troubled me that he has seemingly zero interaction with anyone about anything. He could easily clarify a load of things with one statement, interview or Q and A, but we know he won't. At this stage and with things unravelling in front of our eyes it's just becoming more and more bizarre. Is it arrogance? Lack of caring? Total intransigence? Whatever is the case, we need to know why we basically don't have a squad. Gow's academy seems an unbelievable waste of funds if we're putting out benches of 4. Are we expecting to get stung in this court case? Are we just skint generally?

Contrary to the old saying, sometimes no news is actually bad news. I'm more and more beginning to think that applies here.

Concur and the reason why I've always been suspicious of him, never seen him even "quoted" either.
