There’s just so much I don’t understand about how and why we did things today - the sense of confusion is overriding being pissed at the result. Moving Justin to the left after benching Euan despite having just signed a player capable of fitting in there if needed. The decision to still go for it when everyone could see the game was probably gone at 3-0. Rhys and Dycey staying on the park when perhaps making a sub and managing the damage would have been better. Everything that could have gone wrong did and they absolutely demolished us. So fair play to them.

It looked to me like he tried to get his best 11 on the park, regardless of positions. It didn't work!

Starting line-up and formation totally baffled me even before the game started. Devenney at left back - why? Wylie gets a start in centre mid - why? Only proven goalscorer on the bench - why? Then, as mentioned by others, continuing to play 3 up front with 10 men just seems completely unrealistic.

So many players off it today.

    Hopefully a wake up call.

Probably because Euan Deveney is not up to it although fair to say it didn't work!

That was murder. Really naive to think you can play 3 (sometimes more) up front when you’re down to 10 men. 2 at the back in the 3nd half too. Justin Devenny isn’t a full back. Add to that too many players having a bad day at the same time. Fordyce was terrible today. Here’s hoping he learns from that. Stupid sending off too. Would’ve been better letting the goal in.

It was going by the post!

“I think the ref said himself after it that he had to make a decision. I don’t know why he felt he had to make a decision but he did. It’s one that was wrong but we move on.”
That’s what Mackay is quoted as actually saying on it.
Hardly translates to “the ref told me he knew he made a mistake”.

Spot on, people haven't obviously read the report. For what it's worth, it was a goal to me.

Sorry its just when you say

"With the window closing its looks like ATS is the only show in town"

Its looks like your saying he's our only option cause the window is closing the window for transfers being the one your referencing I'm assuming and that has no bearing on how we conduct business. I don't want to have a go im just pointing out the transfer window , other than allowing other teams to solidify thier teams and maybe rethink who's going out on loan, it's totally irrelevant to us.

Stop being so pompous Ross, i already acknowledged your points earlier in thread.

Correct , some folk on here living in a parallel universe where we pay money to clubs for players. We don't,  and the loan market is still open so let's dial down the daft "the windows closing were doomed" statements. It doesn't matter to us , never has.

What will hopefully happen is once everyone's (teams who actually buy players) squads have been confirmed this week , they will know who else the want to send out on loan.

Also don't want to just sign a player cause he's "experienced" Falkirk are full of experienced players and it's worked really well for them. I want good players regardless of age who will actually add something to the squad. Our bench last year had Allan,  ritchie, lyons,  kerr and caves none of them are turning games bar the rare Allan goal. This year we have all strikers bar one off the mark, 2 of them on the bench, wylie , mcmaster and the young laddie. Although I'm not sold on wylie yet , that's already stronger than last year. Add another left back to the squad and defensive cover and we will be rocking. We are unbeaten after the toughest start in years , and playing lovely stuff. Will this stop all the panic posting....Time will tell....

Also , anyone noticed how much better we are at attacking set pieces this year ?

Point's taken but we can't wait much longer and you've got to question why players are still out of contract players at this stage with the season well underway.

Attitude, too greedy, perhaps clubs unsure of them? Also they might have missed a good pre season therefore might not be up too speed.

Hopefully the good start we've made might sway a few.

11 points from 15 is a great start considering the fixtures, I'd say we've had the hardest 5 fixtures of any team in the league (Montrose perhaps similar but they've had 3 home games) Dunfermline, QOS, Falkirk and ourselves were the top 4 favourites going into the season and we're the only side out of the 4 to have played the other 3 so far. To come out of those games (2 of them being away) with 5 points and winning the other 2 games is excellent.

We all know about our head to heads against Cove/Partick/Raith costing us in recent years, for me the aim has to be to win the 4 game head to heads against those 3 teams this year - so at least 7 points against each. Easier said than done obviously but we've had the ideal start to do that, if we do that we wont be far away. The results so far show our first 11 is as good as anything in the league on its day, it's just a case of how our squad holds out, I'm still worried as we move into the winter we'll pick up injuries and suspensions and I don't think we'll have the depth that others have to cope.

With the signing window (loans apart) now only a few days away, it seems like Taylor-Sinclair is the only show in town and whilst i really don't know much about him, a left sided defender is top priority.  Deveney has done ok'ish but it was clear to see yesterday that he's not yet ready to be a regular starter.

Don’t know why I’m bothering responding, given you’ve admitted to adding 20% to what you consider to be the ‘actual’ figure. But, you’re including players in our u18 squad as first team players? You’re getting really desperate here. To be fair, anyone using our website for information is going to get things wrong. We haven’t even got Martin Harty listed as a coach, despite him being contracted to the club since day 1 of preseason.

Since we don’t have a reserve squad this year, they’ve just put anybody on a professional contract, or that has been named in a match day squad, in the ‘first team’ section. But 6 of them (Rennie, Beagley, Young, Tod, Sutherland, Archibald) are members of the U18 squad and McPake has said he won’t throw them into league football. Another one (Miller Fenton) is out on loan, so he won’t be able to play for us.

We have 18 first team players. Including 2 who are injured fairly long term (Dorrans and Allan). We aren’t a million miles away from having a full squad in terms of numbers, but we have a lot of midfielders, a lot of strikers and not much cover anywhere else.

    Thanks Calum
