Clyde FC; Season 2022-23

McGeever off to Dubai. https://dumbartonfootballclub.com/club-captain-moves-on/ -
Annan’s tactics tomorrow will be frustrating to say the least, but I’d be wanting us to do the exact same if the roles were reversed. It’s not their fault we’re in this mess - can’t blame them for taking full advantage. I agree broadly about the admission price tomorrow, especially given we’re going into the game pretty much dead and buried but I think we’ve got more to worry about than the price Hamilton Accies charge for pies.

I was far too invested in the game last night as a Clyde fan to notice the commentary tbh but I have felt the same way as the OP in the past when it’s a game I don’t have a vested interest in. I would much rather these games were shown on BBC Scotland but find it hard to level any sort criticism at Alba as at least they’re showing them. The Gaelic commentary is a small price to pay imo. It can also be quite good not having a clue what’s going on instead of having to listen to the likes of Chris Iwelumo and Rory Loy. I do find it odd that BBC Scotland put all their eggs in the one basket with the Championship and don’t show at least a couple of games from L1 & L2, although I don’t really understand how TV deals work so I’ve no idea if it’s even an option. For all the Championship gets plaudits for being a really exciting league, some of the games shown on the BBC this season have been absolutely shocking. The size of the league also just makes it quite repetitive - you feel as if you’re watching the same teams every week.

Clyde FC; Season 2022-23
ScottR96 replied to the_bully_wee's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
What would success look like to you? The season would've played out the same regardless of where we played our games because our manager completely lost the plot and signed a group of players who are nowhere near good enough. Attendances would’ve been broadly similar and we’d all still be miserable as sin. I do agree with you when you say once the DGW situation calmed down, we probably would’ve been able to negotiate terms with NL to remain at Broadwood but I think we were quite right to tell them to ram it after they set the dangerous precedent of dictating who was allowed to enter the stadium. The fans are still out there, and they will return once there’s a decent product on the park. It’s as simple as that. Unfortunately, the landscape of Scottish football now dictates that clubs like ours can’t really do that until we have the means to generate income. We first stated our intention to leave Broadwood in 2010, had various awful ideas in the immediate aftermath but had done pretty much nothing as far as I can tell from circa 2015 until we eventually left in 2022 so had we stayed, I’m not sure anything would’ve changed. If anything, at least leaving Broadwood and going to Hamilton seems to have properly got the ball rolling on our long term goal. -
SPFL L1 Trophy day - Dunfermline Vs Clyde
ScottR96 replied to 101's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
What a bizarre thing to make up . The Dunfermline fan in question was being a complete dick - but to be fair I assumed he had been in hospitality and was sozzled, and I couldn’t begrudge anyone that on their trophy day. -
SPFL L1 Trophy day - Dunfermline Vs Clyde
ScottR96 replied to 101's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
Sickener losing a goal loss late in the half, especially one that was so poorly defended. Good performance though, so far. A point will do us but could see Dunfermline getting at least another goal - especially shooting into their own fans. -
Resigned yourself to another season in L1 already, have we? In any case, I still think both teams will go down so you’ll get rid of us regardless. Really don’t know how tomorrow will go but I’m swaying towards a narrow home win. There’s definitely been positives in the last few weeks but Peterhead also seem to have been a bit harder to beat since they binned Robertson. It’d be nice to secure 9th and have the last two games to hopefully build a bit of momentum for the play offs without looking over our shoulder.

Hard to see us bouncing back from this setback tbh. -
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-65258108 18,000 is child’s play compared to that guy on here.

Partick thistle vs Queens park
ScottR96 replied to ptfc. 22's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Fabulous. -
Clyde had 4 subs named a couple of weeks ago and 2 of them were goalies. We don’t have a reserve side!

This is just complete ignorance of the rules from my point of view, but I kind of assumed that O’Hara’s yellow card for St Mirren would’ve been cancelled given a VAR check ruled that a penalty should’ve been awarded just a few seconds prior.

Off The Ball - Is it good?
ScottR96 replied to Buddist Monk's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Don’t think there’s anything wrong with looking forward to seeing world class players in the flesh when they play against Scotland. If you’re a Celtic or Rangers supporter, there’s a chance you’ll get a Real Madrid or Man City in the CL but for the vast majority, international football is the only chance to see some of these players. I’ll be there tomorrow hoping for a win but I’ll enjoy being able to see Spain albeit they’re not the force they once were. Likewise with the Norway game, I’ll be there praying a win will send us through and if we did it with Haaland playing, it’ll be one of the all time great nights at Hampden. -
Hamilton Academical v Raith Rovers: THE FINAL

Well done Accies. Going out to the eventual winners always softens the blow somewhat. Delighted for John Rankin, too. Brilliant player in one of my favourite ever Clyde teams. -
Clyde vs Airdrie 24/03/2023
ScottR96 replied to Diamond1924's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
Aye, I’d agree with this. Airdrie absolutely deserved the win but felt like every shot on target went in. I don’t think we necessarily played worse than normal tonight tbh, we’re just fucking shite and invariably we‘ll be on the end of a few hidings. Just get us down now. The fact we could, in theory, stay up this season is remarkable. If there was ever an advert for two up, two down it’s this league. -
I’ll go for a boring 2-0 win. Dykes and McGinn with the goals.
