  1. Decent game at Paties Road. Edinburgh Utd 1 Kennoway Star Hearts 1. KSH took the lead with 20 mins left when a free kick by Lee Bryce seemed to deflect off the wall. Captain Sean Guiney rescued a point for Utd with 5 mins to go with a header from a James Flynn free kick.
  2. Sea stacks at Mangurstadh. The best view of them is from the south: But you can only get the sunset perched on the cliff east of them:
  3. Aye Newky there were rays of hope on Tuesday as Camelon might be challenging at the top. Couldnae make it yesterday as I had to deliver the missus across to Fife but would have been interested to see how they followed up. This is what happened last season, all the pointless teams slowly got points and pulled away. Jeanfield are always decent at home.
  4. I was there too and would wholeheartedly agree. However I think that’s the 3rd rammy I’ve seen this week, after the Edinburgh Utd game last Saturday and Whitehill on Tuesday
  5. Gratuitous/Obligatory Puffin shot after a visit to the Isle of May on Tuesday
  6. Fair points. From where we were up at the top end your first two looked a horrorshow for the keeper, first the guy was allowed to cut in from the left, and his shot was a good couple of yards inside the post. Second goal, some have said it was a good strike, but from our angle it didn't look that strong, just looked like it went through the keeper. Shame there's no highlights though, enjoyable game.
  7. From a Welfare point of view I’d be hoping that Camelon side were going to be challenging near the top. Welfare coped reasonably well for an hour but faded badly after their equaliser and the sending off. Both defences were poor though. Seven goals and the coaches would have been tearing their hair out at most of them. The free kick was a peach and was more fit to win a game than a consolation. Tolmie’s experience looks crucial and young Fyn Connor in midfield has developed well since he was in the 20s. Amazed to see Wayno still running after 90 minutes, even if dropping back into midfield.
  8. Steve Paterson's team were legends. We thought they could achieve anything. At half time we were discussing whether we could still win it. 9 mins into the second half Sheerin got the first and we knew we would. When Wyness scored the winner there were nearly 20 mins left. My personal nightmare was Feb 2007. Home to Celtic in the last 8 of the Cup. Led for most of the game 1-0 and dreamed of our 3rd ever semi final having been to Hampden in 2003 and 2004, and knocking Celtic out for the 3rd time in our short history. Celtic usually make you work hard for your win but they hardly threatened at all. 4 Celtic fans pretending to be home fans got up and left with people laughing and pointing at them and shouting "see you next week!" Then Pressley scored with 2 minutes to go and we resigned ourselves to a replay at Parkhead. Then Kenny Miller scored another...
  9. Murdanie emailed me an answer which seems to work. I had thought maybe the gap was due to a low lying spur but I didn't think there was such a thing to the North end of Hirta. However I took the photo from 50 miles away at about 600ft up so it probably fits. Gallan Head is the peninsula to the north of where I shot the pic. "From right you have Stac an Armin, Boreray, Soay behind Boreray, Then the little Stac (like) is the tip of the Cambir which is the end of the arm of Hiort towards Soay and is at Soay Sound, then the long gap is where it is not so high and you come to Conachar that brings Hiort into play. Due to the magnetic anomaly around the Archipelago before satelite navigation we used a transit bearing of the north end of Soay visible through between Boreray and Stac an Armin to give us a couse direct to Gallan Head. We kept on that line till the compass stabilised itself once away from the islands."
  10. Well it's working now but last night i was only seeing one panel for each match, using a desktop btw. Cheers though, I’m assuming there’s a pay gate if it doesn’t sell out?
  11. Jeez that fanbase thing's a bit of a faff I see the Camelon game only offers adult at £7 but the Broxburn game only offers concessions at £5. OK if you turn 60 this week...
  12. No a good marker for the rest of the season. I'll probably pop up on Tuesday night if they'll let me in. Camelon will be just as hard.
  13. Ooft! Sair yin. Any of the Fergie Park Faithful there? I see there was a red card but it was 4-0 by that point.
  14. 9th July. Lewis & Harris League. Carloway FC 1 Back FC 9 Cnoc a'Choilich, Carloway. Admission £3. Attendance c100. High flyers Back see off strugglers Carloway and are 5-0 up at half time. Hat tricks for Euan Anderson and Connor Mackay and a double for Stevie Mutch. Joel Martin got the other one while DI Maclennan got Carloway's consolation at 7-0. The second photo looks like a goal, but it's actually the high point of the Carloway keeper's night as he pulls off a point-blank save to tip it over the bar... 9.
  15. Shocking if true Andy Yeah but then they would have had to cap their STs (at 250?) which doesn't make a lot of sense either, especially if the SG relax the restrictions later. It seems from their twitter that ST holders can just walk up, they're not doing a ballot like say ICT did, nor does it look like free PPV is being offered to any overspill. Mind you, fair play, that would be a hoor of a healthy sales figure...
  16. Thought I might take a dander down to Bonnyrigg today v Celtic B as at least they took a stand in the vote against the cheeks. But it's ST holders only. Is this just for the Rangers/Celtic visits then?
  17. Lewis last week. Managed to coax one of the tame stags that hang about to jump the fence.
  18. Just back from 12 days in Lewis, 2nd visit of the year. Son, daughter, spouses and 3 granddaughters so a real family trip. Took hunners of photos. Fabulous weather while apparently it was pishing down here in the Lowlands. Going back in October, cannae wait. Here's one from when we went to Harris on my birthday. Snapped this before but hey, the cows!
  19. It's a hoor of a long way. I take it you're not planning a day trip. Distilleries! I would check out a walk to Davaar Island if you have time and the tides are right. Crucifixion cave painting which is pretty interesting even if you're not religious. Couple of years since I was there and it seemed pretty run down. Not sure what effect the pandemic has had. The Argyll Arms and the Royal Hotel are majestic but faded sandstone buildings.
  20. Can't remember that, but they say your memory's the second thing to go... Did take bikes to Millport with the missus the only other time I was there. Looking at Wee Cumbrae now for a day trip.
  21. This rang a bell so I checked and it seems I had a similar kind of day... https://scottishfootballgroundswordpresscom.wordpress.com/2017/06/14/largs-thistle-barrfields-stadium/
