  1. Have to compliment Glasgow libraries, they have an iPhone app and I used it yesterday morning to order two books, which are now in my local library to be picked up. GCC rightly get pelters for many things, but in my experience the libraries are superb.
  2. Your senses are wrong... England 240 all out, a proper humping.
  3. If you haven't already, read Stephen Ambrose's D-Day book, also a good read. I'll need to get Beevor's Stalingrad and Berlin books ordered up at the library.
  4. A great day for South African sportsmen playing in England, unless of course you are a South African sportsman playing FOR England....
  5. Anthony Beevor - D-Day, a brilliant piece of work and a must read IMO for anyone interested in WW2.
  6. The world's fasted water carrier absolutely romps the sprint finish to win stage 18, Cavendish came through like an express train and left the field miles behind.
  7. He is brilliant entertainment, here's eurosports Blazing Saddles blog from yesterday on " Tommy Hill Figure" http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/blazin-saddles/tommy-hill-figure-232214805.html
  8. The big building just in from the bottom left corner is the old bingo hall at the corner of Hawthorn Street and Balmore Road, with Hawthorn Street running diagonally out of the picture to the left.
  9. Found that one myself Archie. As far as I can make out it is Ayr Parkhouse. Ground was called Beresford Park. If you look at a map of Ayr you will see Parkhouse Street and Beresford Terrace on the site where the ground used to be. Btw, if you register and zoom in you will see that it is sheep that are on the pitch!
  10. The new ground sits bang in the middle of the picture, the old ground just a bit to the left.
  11. No, it's on the site of New Barrowfield Park.
  12. New Springfield Park is at the bottom of Silverdale Street off London Road, about 100 yards or so east of the junction of London Road and Springfield Road.
  13. Taken from Britain from Above Centre left is New Springfield Park, home of Strathclyde Juniors. Top Centre is Helenslea Park, home of Parkhead Juniors and facing that on the other side of London Road is New Barrowfield Park, home to Bridgeton Waverley.
  14. Crash for Cavendish today with a couple of kilometres left, bit shaken but no major damage hopefully. Andre Greipel takes the stage win.
  15. It's in Edinburgh in autumn, if it's pishing down and blowing a gale like it was in Australia the other week, then who knows!
  16. Frank will be too busy trying to figure out where his brother is.....
  17. If we can beat Tonga and SA in the autumn tests ( huge task I know) then we could maybe sneak into the top 8 in time for the WC2015 draw in December. Could make a massive difference to our chances of making it through the group stages.
  18. Hopefully the team will come out of this tour with some belief that they can score tries and beat higher ranked teams. Think we might move back above Samoa in the rankings after that win?
  19. Got it on order at the library, heard a few folk saying it's very good. Just finished Ian Fleming's Commandos by Nicholas Rankin, which was very good and all about 30 Assault Units exploits in WW2. About to start A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. Glasgow libraries are running a series of 50 books every man should read, so I've picked up a couple I would probably have ignored otherwise, and the ones I have read so far have been good reads.
  20. American Psycho - Bret Easton Ellis, found it very hard going tbh even though I saw the film a good few years ago and knew more or less what to expect. Now started on Hunter S. Thompson's The Rum Diary.
  21. Should've been sent home IMO, shocking manoeuvre at that stage of the race and at that speed.
  22. Huge crash today at the last corner, Cavendish was well ahead of it though and won the sprint fairly comfortably.
  23. Carter leads 14-10 against Maguire ahead of the final session this afternoon. If O'Sullivan clicks this morning the way he did yesterday then he could wrap it up against Stevens with a session to spare.
