  1. It's been India's day so far with England currently at 156-5. Compton 1st out scoring 3 with Cook following soon after for 1 after a very poor LBW decision. Trott and KP steadied the ship before Trott went for 44 and Bell then out cheaply for 1. Pietersen's impatience got the better of him and he holed out to a good diving catch by Ojha. The pitch is very slow with little bounce so England will be very disappointed to be in this position.
  2. From Michaela Tabb on Twitter.... @MichaelaTabb: Brutal crowd tonight, such an embarrassment to our Country some of them !! Great when it's positive but some idiots ... :-(( #mosconicup
  3. 2 changes for England, Bresnan in for the injured Finn, but another one straight out of left field as Joe Root comes on for Patel. England won the toss and will bat.
  4. Watching a bit of the Big Bash before I go to bed, Perth Scorchers being taken apart by Melbourne Stars and particularly by Malinga who has just finished his 4 overs with 6 wickets for just 7 runs. Shane Warner also took a wicket with a plum LBW decision.
  5. MS Dhoni has had a horrendous series, terrible with the bat and looking dodgy behind the stumps too. His place in the team must be in doubt never mind his captaincy.
  6. At least they learned from the mistakes of the first test, but it doesn't take away from the fact that if the right team had been picked then this series could have been a whitewash for England. They've been terrific since, a few of the Indian big names have been made to look very ordinary.
  7. Another terrific display by Cook, 132 not out as I head for my bed and he has been rarely troubled by the Indian bowlers. That's his 23rd test hundred which puts him top of the charts for England in that particular list. 206-1 at the moment.
  8. IIRC Dr. No was the book after From Russia with Love? Certainly by the time Fleming wrote FRWL he was getting fed up with the character of Bond and that was why it ended as it did, a bit of a public clamour saw him change his mind and carry on after all. Just finished In Search of Alan Gilzean by James Morgan, quite different from the normal football biography and an excellent read.
  9. Yep, agree with that. Love him or hate him you can't argue with the stats. Nice touch by the Saffers to give him a guard of honour as he came on for his last innings, followed by the time honoured tradition of getting him out for a low score (8 ) and giving his team a pumping.
  10. Yes, Ali Larter who went on to star in Heroes and a couple of Resident Evil films among other things. Currently about 6 episodes into series 2, terrific entertainment and I like the way the characters are evolving, still running about 10 episodes behind what is on Sky Atlantic so I'll need to get the finger out and catch up. It's now available on the Sky on demand thing so you can download it without the adverts.
  11. Cook has been terrific since taking over the captaincy, Monty is proving that he should have been in from the start of the series.
  12. Just finished "The Ghost of White Hart Lane", written by Rob White & Julie Welch. Rob was only 6 months old when his father John, a Spurs and Scotland legend, was killed after being struck by lightning on a golf course. It's a very emotional read as Rob tries to somehow get to know the father he never had. Excellent contributions from many of John's old team mates and definitely well worth a read.
  13. Have you been round and raped your neighbours yet?
  14. Too many of the England batsmen seem to panic if they come to the crease with the score quite low and 2/3/4 wickets down. Contrast that with the Aussies last week when Clarke came in at 40-3 and goes on to score a double ton with a couple of the others having big scores too. Certainly a decent start here for England, but they will need to bat for ages yet.
  15. I can't believe that the ICC haven't made the referral system compulsory for all Test matches, it seems bonkers to have the technology available but not use it. Btw, if England are to get anything out of this they have to get through this last session without loss IMO.
  16. Eh? I thought once again that for all England's posturing about how they can handle spin they failed to prove that was actually the case once they started batting. Putting in a night watchman was shambolic at best and Trott looked like he was shitting himself from the off. It was no surprise after several little prods at the ball that he got caught. Pietersen wil at least try and hit the ball away and if he can start scoring even a few ones and twos and finding gaps then he should force India to move a couple of close fielders out a bit and ease some of the pressure.
  17. Bradley Wiggins has been admitted to hospital after a collision with a car. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/20246940
  18. Just finished Rough Ride by Paul Kimmage (2006 updated edition), really does show up the fact that cycling has been rotten to the core for decades.
  19. Glasgow were doing ok in the league prior to the Euro ties, but the injuries definitely took their toll against the better opposition. They've just announced that they have signed 24 year old Kiwi Sean Maitland from Crusaders who can play on either wing or at full back. He qualifies for Scotland as both paternal grandparents were born in Glasgow. He will join in the next few weeks subject to getting his visa. I'm guessing that this must be down to Sean Lineen in his new role as head of player acquisitions or whatever it's called.
  20. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/cycling/9619577/Dutch-sponsors-Rabobank-withdraw-professional-cycling-sponsorship-after-Lance-Armstrong-doping-revelations.html Rabobank pull their sponsorship from professional cycling.
  21. I don't think he's shite, but while Liverpool were spending £15 million on him, Barca were spending £15 million on Euro champ Jordi Alba. Go figure.
  22. Some genius graffiti from Liverpool airport
  23. It was a reply to his daughter who asked how old you had to be to divorce your parents. He has had a few tweets since though that give the impression he is pished.
  24. He's not even Scotland's best ever player.
  25. From what I read elsewhere it seems to have been along the lines of "always the victims, it's never your fault." Crass and extremely tasteless without a doubt, especially when fans of just about every other club have been showing their support for the victims of Hillsborough and their families over the weekend. Criminal though? Extremely doubtful IMO.
