  1. Had him in first year. From what I recall he was a good laugh and made the topics interesting. He largely focuses on Scotland in the early 20th century particularly around Red Clydeside and so on. Fairly sure he was the coordinator for dissertations as well so must be regarded as organised.
  2. The History course at Dundee is excellent. I studied there and Chris Storrs alone is worth accepting. A legend.
  3. Reckon the establishment of countries not along tribal borders is a pretty big influence on conflict in that part of the world tbh.
  4. Can empathise with the anxiety over menial tasks. I can't go to the same place for my lunch where I'm working or living cause I get pure heavy anxious that the people there are judging me or commenting on me even though it's ridiculous.
  5. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/aug/05/neoliberalism-mental-health-rich-poverty-economy Related to the last post this is an excellent article on the undoubted links between mental health and neoliberalism. From my limited experience and that of my friends I can see it. A lot of positive traits are actively discouraged or punished in many workplaces and the constant competition is incredibly unhealthy for anyone who isn't completely capable of coping with it. I'm going into teaching myself and while it's going to be a battle I've got the impression that there's an element of camaraderie between teachers that I think is a good thing.
  6. Ponsonby (I think) absolutely going in on Coburn on Scotland Tonight atm. Slaughtered him on his claim that most marriages between British nationals and foreign citizens are sham marriages, where UKIP are going to find £5.5 billion cuts and other manifesto pledges.
  7. The SNP can definitely be accused of trying to chase the middle class vote as much as many other mainstream parties. The difference is that they're much more competent and do still retain some semblance of social justice. I'm not huge on them but atm there's little more to champion than competent government and independence in the near future.
  8. Marks and Spencer's BNP surely?
  9. I'm feeling quite content at the moment. Drained from having to constantly travel and work in a job I'm ambivalent about but everything's falling into place.
  10. I'm more annoyed by the argument that we should invest in weapons of mass destruction because some people rely on it for work.
  11. That bow tie tweet he wrote legit the WOAT.
  12. Who's everyone blocked by? I'm blocked by Caitlin Moran and Stan Collymore. Quite pleased tbh.
  13. I can't think of another obviously right wing commentator that will concede the problem of Islamophobia in the west in influencing radicalisation among other views that I can agree with like Hitchens. Also his brother is revered by arseholes and it's funny to see how different he is.
  14. I really should hate him but I quite like Peter Hitchens.
  15. Nah not my scene. Just spotted on Twitter and thought I'd help a brother out. Have a good one.
  16. You checked this out? Also taxi services will be more accommodating if you provide an address that isn't by a venue or a subway station. We usually find a side street five minutes walk away and they'll usually provide one.
  17. I'm certain you'll have to get a taxi, my friend. The SWG3 is a terrific venue but really bad for getting to and from. I'm glad The Arches is alright. It's not my favourite venue by a long shot but it has so much outside of it's club nights that you would have feared for other clubs in Glasgow if the Arches had went. I guess it's paying the price to some extent by hosting more mainstream events that bring in crowds who aren't as clued up on what they're taking compared to Subby, the Art School etc. the Arches does do far more than most though to look after it's clubbers with the wellness area and sensible drugs information plastered everywhere.
  18. Arches saved from a closing order.
  19. Wonder how long it would take to get to the top.
  20. The easiest time to play as Scotland is the 769 start as the Picts or 867. England (once formed) are one of the most powerful kingdoms in the game.
  21. Aye, Nige is giving their weans a few years aff school.
  22. Fair enough he's trolling but he's not really being offensive and he's generating discussion.
  23. Absolute obvious trolling from YJS but fair play I guess.
  24. Tbf if you spend most of your time swivel eyed in fury at foreigners having to differentiate between those names must be a pure challenge.
