  1. Just got an unconditional place for a taught postgrad at Glasgow Uni, really pleased. Going depends on getting money from the SAAS and as the course is £5000, raising the £1,600 shortfall.

Got to try though as they majority of jobs in my field require some sort of graduate qualification.

  2. I think going into halls is one of the main areas of getting to know folk when at Uni, you don't tend to interact as much even in tutorials etc and get to know people. I went back to uni at 26 and had lived in my own flat with my boyfriend, whilst it was good, you can feel a bit detached from the student life.

  3. Thinking of heading too Cologne for a match.

Anyone got any advice? What's it like for a night out etc.

Cologne is nice but a bit quiet for a lad's weekend - more the kind of place you'd go on a couples weekend.

I'd advise Dortmund, Hamburg or Munich, all great places with good games to go to - you can always go and watch 1860 Munich who share the Allianz Arena with Bayern If the Bayern tickets are a bit pricey :) tbh though tickets for most games are ok - maybe buy them at the fan shops when you get there as it is much cheaper than the ticket sites like Seatwave.

All the cities above are easy enough to fly to, for Dortmund go to Weeze airport with Ryanair, about an hour away but with Deutsche Bahn being as heat as they are the journey is a breeze.

  4. Again though, how conscious a decision this was from Suarez is debateable. The analysis post-match rightly showed his reaction before the ball even crossed the line. He knew he'd done something stupid and knew a free kick would be given.

So the occaision didn't really matter.

I think it matters to the people who are slating him, more than who he is, it's more who they are cheating.

I'm sorry but I don't believe for a second that it wasn't deliberate.

  5. Lots of players would have done what Suarez did. As far as I'm concerned, he's being slated for this because of who he is.

He won the game for his team, which is the important thing given that's what he's paid a ridiculous amount of money to do.

Henry was slated for his handball against Ireland and people in general held him in regard so I don't think it's the case that this is solely about who he is at all, though admittedly it doesn't help that it was him.

It's more to do with the fact that this was against a conference team to whom all the odds were stacked against anyway. Liverpool should have won easily enough without needing to cheat. Most football fans can identify with the 'big team getting the benefit of wrong decisions' scenario.

It also doesn't help that people try and justify it as ok - the ends don't always justify the means.

  6. Aye plenty of folk - but it's not a quote from a Bear.

I suspect that Scotland's otologists will be busy over the next few days.

Catchphrases, nicknames, sayings etc don't have to have any factual basis - The Big Hoose guy must simply be the inspiration for the term. It doesn't honestly matter if he said the words or not.

Then again, I'm sure I must be getting trolled here, noone can really pretend they think whether a catchphrase was said or not is actually important. Can they?

  7. I have honestly had enough now of this whole farce called Scottish Football.

The levels that the SPL,/SFL/SFA appear prepared to go to to force through what they want as opposed to properly applying the rules and doing what is correct, are sickening.

It doesn't matter whether it's the Sevco-Ranger monster or any other team, NO-ONE should be ignoring the rules, messing about with the promotion/relegation places or basically disregarding the sport completely for the same of keeping a club somewhere that the rules say it should not be.

If the governing bodies simply took a firm stance, had sensible rules in place for events like this and stuck to them then everyone would know what was happening and could start to make the bet of life with whatever income they are going to have. I stead, poor leadership and too many conflicted parties mean we have a confused mess and going into the new season no one knows what is happening, what they have, don't have.

I honestly think that the blackmailing proposal has seriously damaged the game. Massive restructuring is needed but not like this, not to save one club that basically has committed suicide and doesn't even seem at time to want to be saved. All that proposal has done is show the depths that some people are prepared to go to, to get as much money for themselves as they can and f**k the game.

  8. Apologies if someone has already asked this. What I don't understand is why, if Rangers thought EBTs were legal and above board, they felt they had to keep them quiet and hide them from the SPL/SFA.

Well even if they thought having and using the EBTs was legal, they would surely know that what they were doing constituted a second contract as they clearly had to write letters to staff about it as a supplication to the contracts themselves. They would know this was against SPL/SFA rules.

  9. Is there actually any posters on here who dont regularly attend their teams games in the SPL 'who would be tempted back if there was an SPL without Rangers next season.

Yeah kind of, I am thinking of buying my first Hearts season ticket if Rangerd go down the plug hole since the club will need the money and the backing of the fans. I am not buying one till I know what happens.

I do go to quite a few of the games already so it might not make much of a difference though.
