  1. Probably by 3/4th year uni?

I agree with vikingTON, doing outside things such as exercise is really important, it was one of the first things our Uni course coordinator said to us at the start of term.

I'd agree with the folks who say to et a job. I have one around uni and whilst the money is essential for me, I find that it gives my days structure as well as forcing me to plan my work - if I know I am working on Friday I have to do my essay on Thu, that kind of thing.

As I know I can't move study time about I actually get more study done than days where I think I have all day and end up wasting it all and doing nothing!

  2. 25 points with 10 suspended. Given the shitebags at sfa not wanting a new club / continuation debate

Can't see any of the clubs being happy with that - either they make it clear thy are a new club and give them 15 points or say they are the same and get 25. It will have an impact on the league so they can't have half measures or compromises or the rows will go on for ever!

  3. Sweet Jesus ... the currants now suddenly concerned after the Celtic fans motion to get a living wage implemented at Parkhead.

This when their old club couldn't afford players and the new Rory version looks like it's heading for the buffers.

    Laughable

Some of the comments are hilarious - they'll happily waste millions on directors, the manager and players but the catering lady needs to prove she needs the living wage before she can get it. Baffling.

  4. It doesnt really matter what you find offensive. The fact is it is offensive and it is sectarian.

Why do you class it as sectarian? I looked up the definition in the Oxford Dictionary which I'm sure we can agree is impartial and reliable as a source and it just states it is as follows:

    Pronunciation: /hʌn/

    noun

1a member of a warlike Asiatic nomadic people who invaded and ravaged Europe in the 4th-5th centuries.

2 informal, derogatory a German (especially during the First and Second World Wars).

    (the ***) Germans collectively:

millions of boys were eager to go and fight the ***

I can see why rangers fans wouldn't like it or might get offended but there is nothing there that makes it a sectarian term.

  5. So, from that, Whyte and Earley AND Green have been directors for a considerable time, and Charlie Boy only left TODAY?

All else aside, why would Charlie still be involved after all this time?..

And why leave today? Any damage done re fake signatures and the like will surely still have an impact whether he is still a director or not? (I mean legally, law breaking type damage :) )

  6. Is that "the usual" though? Most evening kick offs are 7:45 or 8:00

I guess you're right actually. I have been to a few 7.30 kick offs but actually that was probably quite a while back now I think about it :)! It probably is more common that it's 7.45pm now.

Still, let's face it, if you're going to a game surely you check the kick off time and get in 10mins or so before it.

  7. Yes they may be bad but i bet half the people on this thread are the first ones to greet about living in a "nanny state" .What next ? Lets ban alcohol and cigarettes , how much money is wasted and how many lifes are ruined by those two ? Or the proposed "fat tax" everyones moaning about. To bet legally you have to be an adult ,if your willing to gamble crazy amounts of money on the spin of a wheel, computerized or not and you so happen to lose then thats just tough tittys.

I've never cried about living in a nanny state. I'm sure that if alcohol and cigarettes didn't bring in so much cash via taxes they probably would have banned it long ago. The same reason that they won't/will resist banning these altogether.

  8. My ex was a gambling addict and the machines were his downfall as well, lost his job after stealing from the firm he worked for, not to mention stealing from me and trying to pawn my jewellery.

Anyway the point I was going to make was that the machines are everywhere so even with as much resolve as you can have, seeing the bookie on most of the streets you walk along means you can't escape it. They should be banned.

  9. There's only one person dragging this out, Bendarroch. You.

I, and just about everybody on here, have stated their opinions on TRFS's feelings.

I have never seen his rationale for the way he feels, and frankly do not wish to discuss it on here. Evidently, it is an honest disclosure, and one he has not sought to minimise. (unlike some posters who have displayed controversial opinions or allegiances).

Only you feel the need to drag up what you believe to be "shameful" facets of other posters' personalities in order to deflect from the issues at hand, or to discredit their input. Playing the man, not the ball, as someone so eloquently put it.

I have a work colleague who is a dyed in the wool Tory. I find his political outlook offensive at times, and irrational at best, given his own place on the societal spectrum. He and I have similar tastes in books, music, and to an extent films. His right-wing politics don't impact on his appreciation of Jeffrey Deaver, Rush or Tarantino. He isn't the biggest Ken Loach fan, mind... ;)

In short, I despise the man's politics, but value his opinion on many other matters. Because human beings aren't one-dimensional. Can I assume you despise the works of Charles Dodgson and Benjamin Britten? Should Churchill's racism and drug addiction have precluded him from high office?

Carroll wasn't actually proved to be a paedophile was he? He was suspected and accused of it, especially with his friendship of Alice Liddell, but wasn't it thought later on that it was all exaggerated?

Sorry, that's a bit irrelevant and I like the rest of your post :-)

  10. I don't think anyone can give any sort of reasonable account of what might have happened as unfortunately we simply don't know enough good, accurate information about what went on.

Most of the information we have has come from the British media who rightly/wrongly have been biased towards the McCann's since it happened.

It was they who had a campaign of stating the Portuguese Police had fucked up the case, put pressure for British police to get involved and they who have put out stories about what happened giving only really the McCann's side of it.

Now maybe the above is all true, the police did f**k the case up, the McCann's story is what happened. We just don't know though as the bias the media showed I think makes the information unreliable.

  11. The idea that the McCann's had a hand in her disappearance isn't exactly a conspiracy theory. I believe that at the time it was the Portuguese polices theory about what happened to her - think the police chief had to quit over it.

If I remember, didn't the media here try to make them out to be rubbish foreign police not up to the job and that they had bungled the whole case? It doesn't make it true and if the police genuinely thought that it was a possibility then surely it probably was a possibility.

One thing, they certainly seem to have some friends in high places, one to have got so much media resources in the first place but secondly to have kept it in the public eye for so long. Every so often a new lead, sighting, suspect comes up and then it goes away again, either unproven or disproved altogether.

As someone said before, I suspect this latest one has more to do with justifying the amount of police still in Portugal investigating the case. I seriously doubt there is rally anything new to be learnt out there that isn't known already, especially after all this time.

  12. I've been off Uni for a week now to do training for my job and won't be back for another week. I've done f**k all in the way of reading/listening to lectures and I just found out today I've missed the deadline for a History document report by about 5 days, and it's worth 25% of my overall grade.

    Stupid b*****d.

Speak to your tutor and explain why you missed it. He might say its tough shit but he might not and it's worth it to get your marks in full. Good luck

  13. I work on a library desk and it really fucking annoys me when the next person in line walks up to the desk as soon as the person I'm helping has walked away rather than waiting till I call them over.

There's often things we need to finish away from the desk before we can serve the next person so I have to send them back to the queue anyway, wait until I bloody call you over and am ready!!!!!!

  14. All the Freshers week stuff just ended up annoying the f**k out of me but that's because I'm a grumpy b*****d mature student :-)

Getting harassed by the Cancer Research girl was a real low point. When I said I had no change ( genuinely as I only just got £10 from the ATM) she basically ordered me to come back with some. Telling a charity collector to f**k off? nobody comes out of that with any credit at all.

The course is going well so far, not really started but got most of the important stuff set up and working.
