  1. “You don’t always need overtaking for it to be exciting” - it fucking helps though doesn’t it?
  2. Bottas getting flashbacks and forgetting that he doesn’t still have to let the Mercedes through
  3. Telfer seems to have a decent amount of talent but is a bit of a shitebag by all accounts. If he doesn’t get a full time offer somewhere and is forced to go part time, then we could maybe use that as a rocket and get a more motivated player. However, there’s no way we’ll be in for a player like that - he screams Kelty to me.
  4. Think that’s an indictment of that vote as much as anything else tbh
  5. Trump putting up the expected strict resistance here
  6. It’s all part of the grand agenda to rid the HL of ‘proper Highland clubs’ of course. Never mind the West Coast agenda at the highest level, THAT’S the real one to be looking at
  7. The statement has, of course, been met with unanimous acceptance and complete opprobrium towards the HL from the collection of weirdos on their socials.
  8. I’m wary of signing L2 players - especially ones that have had a poor season - but Grant might be the exception given the success he’s had here previously and Lennon’s knowledge of how to maximise his talent. Hopefully he wouldn’t be in as much demand and could be acquired cheaply. I do think we’ll end up retaining players from the current squad that aren’t good enough - Rumsby/Page, Livingstone, JBH, maybe even Docherty - because we’ll fear not being able to sign essentially an entire squad over the summer with our budget constraints and the issues we had last year with missing out on targets. These players must only be kept on as depth - if kept on at all - and on the fringes of things this year. Personally, my priority retention list would only be Parry, Cuddihy, Splaine and Cunningham. Some of the others named above (plus possibly Gomis depending on wage) will likely reappear and we obvs have Kennedy and McGrath on the books for next season. Its ruthless - I don’t see the retention list being as tight as this - but it’s a put up or shut up year for us in L1. Never mind Lennon’s chat about making progress in the division next season, we need a revamp and a check in the expectations of our squad if we’re hoping to compete in an even more competitive division next year.
  9. This lad in particular seems to be taking things particularly poorly:
  10. Safe to say this morning’s matches not capturing the attention. The afternoon line up looks better tho.
  11. I’m one of the ‘Cumbernauld generation’ and it will feel odd to be leaving after Saturday and starting a new season in a different place. As someone who supported the club spending most of my life ten minutes walk from the ground, I appreciate I’ve had it easy over the last 20 or odd years but it does feel as if it’s time for us to go. Whether you fully believe the projections and predictions about our future going forward at Broadwood from the board, the relationship appeared to have deteriorated to an irredeemable extent, even before the DGW affair brought it to a head. The board seem confident about securing a new site in Glasgow from their statement; I wish I shared that sense of optimism but it’s difficult to do so after the various missteps on relocation over the last decade or so. I also agree with the post above about the recruitment being even more important than ever this season, another poor squad like this year playing at a temporary home and we’ll be on a journey to League 2 and probably worse.
  12. https://www.eurosport.co.uk/snooker/world-championship/2021-2022/all-about-social-media-and-money-luca-brecel-on-why-lazy-british-snooker-players-won-t-emulate-ronni_sto8892281/story.shtml At least Brecel will have more time to practise after this morning…
  13. Ding-Wilson really heating up here. Quality snooker.
  14. The playing budget for next season will remain the same as was presented that night (and broadly similar to this season) however this will now make us a larger loss than was forecasted. It’s the following season where things look to be getting cut to the quick and we’re going back to the budgets akin to the bottom end of L2 days. But who knows and these things can change in time, as we’ve seen this season already.
  15. The doom laden predictions for our budget for beyond next season suggests that this might be the last chance we have to put together a halfway competitive squad for this level so hopefully we can make a good fist of it.
  16. Looking at the Dumbarton teams of the last pair of seasons, this isn’t the one to describe as stuffy.
  17. We’ll likely have to pick and choose our team selections through this period, know Clarke likes to keep changes to a minimum but players will be out on their feet otherwise. This is where having a stronger squad like we have now will really come in handy.
  18. Crucible first round draw out this morning, some tasty ties in there. Murphy-Maguire, Wilson-Ding and Higgins-Thepchaiya all look fun. Gilbert could prove tricky to O’Sullivan on the face of it as well.
  19. A Rob Jones consolation trickler in added time to cement his spot in the starting XI
  20. It would also mean that Poulter and Westwood would be ineligible for the Ryder Cup, meaning we might actually be able to play some younger talent in the European team for once rather than just the same old names.
  21. He tried that at Portrush tbf
  22. Unfortunately Scheffler is just going to coast home and win this. I don’t like rooting for people to fail but if he wouldn’t mind putting a couple in the drink at 12…
