  1. No game for Lanark tomorrow so intend going to Kirkconnel for the Kello v Finnart game. There are closer fixtures but, I always enjoy my visits down there and the pies are excellent. Got Kello in a couple of weeks so can call it a scouting mission. I'll be rooting for the home team.
  2. Greenock 2 Lanark 4 Surprised at how good the pitch was considering all the rain this week. We were 1 down after 5 minutes and did nothing for the first 25 of this game. A stonewall penalty secured an equaliser and a nice move saw us score a send right on half time. Greenock missed two excellent chances t get back in the game before 2 goals in 3 minutes put us 1-4 up. We missed a number of chances but disappointingly lost a cheap late goal and a 2nd yellow to deplete our squad further. A rest week next week will hopefully help us recover from the flu and injuries that restricted our squad today. Other results went for us, I'm pleased to see.
  3. With between 7 and 12 games to play I'd say the 3 promotion spots are between Lanark, Threave, Bellshill and VoL, based on current form. Lanark have all 3 still to play, which could make or break us.
  4. Straightforward 3-1 win for Lanark against West Park. Should have scored a lot more and disappointing to lose yet another sloppy goal but the 3 points is the main thing, particularly when others around us are dropping points.
  5. There are no cracks. Him and Con are wanting a regular start it would seem, which on current form is not possible unfortunately. Very sad that he has taken this decision.
  6. Chucky Watt has asked for a transfer, which is a great pity, particularly at this stage of the season. In my Top3 of all time favourite Lanark players. Con Boyle also on the list. Neither getting many starts so presume their desire to play more minutes has trumped playing their ongoing part in potential promotion, possibly as League winners.
  7. A fairly comfortable win for Lanark today although Pt Glow missed a couple of good chances. We were 3 up and coasting when we made 5 substitutions on 65 mins. The tempo changed dramatically. We conceded a late consolation but not before we missed a glaring chance to go 4 up. Both keepers had excellent saves. A late and mysterious red for a Pt Glw sub who came on around 90 mins and lasted 2 mins. Not sure if he said something to the ref. Our impressive run of form continues. Game at a time as they say.
  8. I was impressed by Kilsyth. I thought you might drop points there. They try and play football but not got much up front.
  9. Lanark 1 SBA 2 We competed well against the team 2 divisions above us. Both their goals came from individual mistakes in horrible conditions. Good news is Ciaran Brannan made his comeback, playing his first game in months and was still full of running to the end, despite underfoot conditions.
  10. Since we changed management we have won 10, lost 2 and drawn 1, the best run of form of any team during that period. We are obviously hoping this sequence of results continues and, if so, should see us promoted. Long way to go however.
  11. Lanark 5 Irvine Vics 1 An excellent performance by us today, which could easily have resulted in 8 or 9 goals sees us move up the table to 4th. Played some really good stuff today. Just a pity we conceded a very sloppy goal near the end, caused by a woefully short back pass. Good to be able to give players a run out today in the 2nd half, with 3 more still to return from injury.
  12. Finnart 2 Lanark 4 Huge difference from last week. 3 up inside 18 minutes. Finnart straight red before half time, which I personally thought was harsh but was assured it was studs up. 3 changes to Finnart line up at half time , including their keeper made a difference. Was not at all obvious that one team had a man less. A (dodgy) penalty got them back in it. Ball blasted directly at our player - and he gets a yellow! We missed at least 6 gilt edged chances, hitting the bar etc before getting a 4th. Finnart got a late consolation after our young keeper spilled a long range effort into the path of their oncoming striker. Starting to get guys back from injury. Brannan only got one more game to go before his suspension is up. Hard to see how Finnart are top of the league on today's performance.
  13. Finnart 2 Lanark 4 Good away win against the top of the table.
  14. Much as I talk up the pies elsewhere I have stopped buying them at Lanark as they are never served hot enough for my liking. It is a good pie though.
  15. Some result for Threave but, you could also say, some result for Johnstone!
  16. Fair. We were awful first half. 3 half time substitutions changed the dynamic considerably without creating lots of opportunities. When we eventually equalised I could only see one team winning but, a huge defensive blunder put paid to that. The 2nd yellow was always on the cards and made a painful defeat more costly than it needed to be.
  17. Lanark been trimming their squad of late. Two recent signings from SBA and St Rochs who have barely featured have gone. Jordan McCrorie off to Royal Albert. Kieran Brannan has 3 more games to go of his suspension. Thinks he's only played one half for us since he returned several months ago. Hoping Aaron Bulloch and Scott Nicol will also be back soon from injury to bolster the quality of a squad that is performing well.
  18. The Gow have lost 38 goals in 14 games and lost 7 today in the cup. I'm hoping their defence doesn't all of a sudden decide to tighten up next weekend.
  19. Royal Albert 0 Lanark 2 Straightforward win but didn't capitalise upon RA playing 2nd half with 10 men after a stramash on way to the changing rooms at half time.
  20. As suggested, went to local baker for a sausage roll which accompanied my home made soup to keep the chill at bay
  21. Kilsyth 1 Lanark 2 Deserved win but not a huge amount between the teams tbs. Won't be many teams win there this season. Kilsyth are a good team, try and play football. Big CB recently signed from Petershill impressed. Kilsyth went ahead through a penalty on 58 minutes. We made 2 substitutions before kicking off and then scored 2 goals on 60th and 62nd minute and had a 3rd harshly disallowed on 63 minutes. Our good run of form continues.
