  1. In a game like that where Rice makes a Johnny Hunt(why was he starting?) of it,we need the first goal but playing two big lumps together was never going to do this and the makeshift St.Mirren defence did well.

Goodwin got his tactics spot on and Stubbs had his worst game for Accies thanks to wee Arnold from Different Strokes making a nuisance of himself and not allowing him to pass out from the back.

Rice should have played the same midfield as against Celtic,Oakley with Davies and not have a spine of a team who were easily muscled off the ball by a side who displayed greater desire and will to win who should have won three or four nil.

Accies  have lost our fighting spirit in games against our rivals:no Big Marko(could have done with him today),Imrie or McKinnon type will to win and taking off Davies for Moyo is where he lost it totally.Davies wasn't playing great but playing against a swirling wind,he can create a goal out of nothing via winning headers or flick ons.Instead we brought on a guy who doesn't have the fighting spirit or will go win you need in games like this.

Wrong team, wrong formation and wrong subs(Oakley and Martin should have started) and that second half was as bad as anything under Canning.

St.Mirren got their tactics, formation and even subs correct and deserved a more emphatic win.An Accies team with no fighting spirit-bar a spell when down to ten men- who only play well against the top table sides highlights a lack of desire and hunger which has been the hallmark of us for donkeys years.

Beer needed after that...in fact many beers.

    Absolutely not.

Dundee last season no wins in 7 rock up to NDP and cruise to a 2-0 win.

Dundee again on a massive winless run. Thump us 4-0 at Dens.

Rangers last season no wins away since February (also against us) play us in September. Cruise to a 4-1 win at NDP.

Hibs last season no wins in 8 Lennon on the verge of getting sacked. Come to NDP get a 1-0 win without an Accies shot on target.

Motherwell on a losing run last season fans turning against Robinson a bit, need to field a team of reserves due to injuries/suspensions. Cuff us easily.

St Johnstone this season only win against Brechin in 15 games. Pump us 3-2.

St Mirren are a proper banker to get their first away point(s) of the season this weekend. Just the question of whether its 1 or 3. Any team on some sort of horrid run will always turn it round against us.

The only one of the above which has any relevance is the St.Johnstone game this season which was a bad Accies performance and bears no resemblance to the side we are a few months down the line.

Some of our fans are the most negative bunch on the planet and even a thumping win tomorrow won't please them.

  3. Big game here for both sides.

For Accies,I expect Steve Davies will be back from the start and after last night, will Rice play Collar and Scott Martin or drop one and play another striker ie Oakley or Oggy,Moyo?

For Saints, problems in central defence I am reading and after recent decent performances, last night will be a big blow.

Saints have suffered  eight  away defeats in a row which as Accies fans know means we usually give the old "After You Claude" and a helping hand.

I expect a bruising game not for the purist and for Goodwin to set his team up defensively hitting on the break after last night,so Accies  need to score first to make it a more open game and allow our wide players to exploit the spaces in behind the defence.

One worry I have against fellow strugglers is the "streetwise" nous ala McKinnon,Imrie etc had in abundance is missing in our new young side.St.Johnstone and Ross County games showed this naivety and led to us dropping points from good positions.

Still confident of a result as big Davies is the cog up front who brings the others into play.

Yet the Sellick fans still lap up all the tickets. Then leave before the full time whistle despite the fact Sellick are winning by 3 goals. Must be pretty sad only enjoying winning 4 league games a season.

Thing is plenty of us watched our club for Seven years with no ground and most rarely missed a game.

I've missed more away games the last two years than during the "terrible nineties" and it is due to football being grossly overpriced nowadays.Plenty others, are the same.

  5. Can imagine plenty of squad players playing here with both sides having their eyes on the weekend games to come.

I would perhaps keep the same defence although not sure if Brian Easton can play three games in a week which would entail Fjortoft or young Jamie Hamilton playing.

Changes in midfield:Collar,Scott Martin and perhaps Cunningham for Lewis Smith or Mikel Miller while Ogympoe may get another 60+ minutes to try to regain fitness.

    At  £30 a ticket,will be giving this a miss.

  6. Watched the highlights there and looked a case of two penalties:one given correctly for Hibs and one wrongly not given for St.Mirren for the shove.

I expect Hibs to push Aberdeen for third place while St.Mirren are like the rest of us- a work in progress with their front line in particular  letting them down.

  7. Lot more confident than I was a month ago as Rice seems to have realised the likes of Fon Williams / Hughes etc are not up to it and with players coming back we should get there eventually.

The change in style to a more attacking formation is the reason for my optimism as Miller and Smith can nick goals out of nowhere(despite a sitter yesterday) and Big Steve Davies does a great job leading the line.

Now,if only we could cut out the red cards,we would make it a whole lot easier.

  8. Proud of my injury and suspension hit team. All we can ask is give the Old Firm a game and attack when possible and we did that.I feel our second half display deserved a point.

Ogympoe was obviously unfit and the gamble playing him failed unlike playing Easton and McGowan who have been missing for a period.

That bit  of class the Old Firm have was illustrated with the second and third goals which the rest of us lack when you look at our decision making at times in the final third.

We have been decent last three games but with only two points to show for it but get the rest of our players back and I feel we have nothing to fear from any other bottom six side.

What's the story? Someone please DM me?

Don't know either and I started the thread.

Guy I know who had a Season Book up till this Season enquired about Hospitality for himself  and his Mrs for Sunday and was quoted £310.

Not sure if he gets a game in midfield for that lol.

  10. Not an ideal time to be playing  a full strength Rangers with what looks like six first picks missing:McGowan,Easton,Stubbs,Alston,Ogympoe and Scott Martin never mind the returning Will Collar being sent off in a reserve game last week after two bookings in a minute.

No one has a clue what team will play:will Fjortoft start in defence or Gogic and will he play McKinnon,Hunt and a.n.other in central midfield considering both have played less than two 90 minutes games in five months.

However, football is a funny old game as old time Accies aficionado Mr Jimmy Greaves Esquire used to say on his wonderful 80's TV show.

Hopefully,a change in goals as "Careless Hands" needs dropped for costing us the win at Killie.Time for Southwood to get a chance although watching the reserves I don't have any great confidence in our plethora of average Keepers.

McCann says in the match preview that he'd love to stay beyond January. Not sure how much we should read into that but we can always hope.

Since Accies currently have half a dozen guys who can play left back(McMann,Easton,Hunt  are the main three),it makes sense for all parties for him to help you guys into the Championship by staying till the end of the season.

Any  time I watched him in our all conquering youth side/under 20's and reserves he was a stand out so no surprise he is doing so well.

Our problem is we have only one right back which shows the lopsided nature of Rice's recruitment and if he could play there he would be getting recalled as currently six first picks out injured/suspended.

Ah, Europe - something you'll never experience - thankfully most of us have been to the likes of Germany, Iceland, France, Czech Republic, Bosnia, Dublin, Belfast Norway etc to see us, so whilst Wales was a shocker, I'm sure we'll be back!

If Livvy, the Highland clubs and others can get there I am sure we will...one day.

Need to take Cup ties seriously though which is something we haven't done for 20+years.

  13. This game is already a Must Win as if Ross County go eight points in front,we will never catch them even at this early stage.

Thus,a big incentive for the Staggies although I don't recall us  losing three in a row under Rice and expect a battling performance -unlike last Saturday.

Rice probably had one eye on this game judging by his team selection on Wednesday and there will be a few changes as is always the case.

Canning esque levels of shite tonight. Sort of games that make you look forward to relegation.

Relegation would be much worse. We have to hang in there until January and get bodies in who can play midfield and one for right back.

No excuses for having no back up right back and the midfield or lack of it which helped to bring down Canning-will be the downfall of Rice as he is making the same mistakes and playing powderpuff players who can't dominate any form of possession ensuring we are creating very little and putting pressure on the back line.

That game should have been an  easy 3 or 4 goal away win and our only hope was a half chance once Davies came on it a free kick.

There are ways of losing games and that wasn't it.Poorest Aberdeen away support I have seen here although that is understandable due to Sunday and the fans attitude towards McInnes. Not that long ago they brought more on a Wednesday night than a Saturday here and they always used to bring good numbers midweek,so their fan base must be right pissed off.

Must win on Saturday if only to delay the inevitable for a few more weeks.Rice talks the talk and says all the right things but then does the opposite in games.

  15. There are three certainties in life:death, taxes and Accies losing in Perth.

Decided to take the dog to Linn Park,Glasgow  instead of the game (mostly due to being skint at the minute) as  I knew what was coming having witnessed many demoralizing defeats in Perth over the last 42 years-deserved or undeserved.

Never checked any scores/internet as wanted to  do a "Likely Lads" and watch the game on Alba unaware of events when I arrived back shortly before six.Sadly,no surprise as the midfield is -like under Canning-the worst in the League by a country mile and lets the rest of the team down.

Some bizarre subs by Rice:bringing on a past it McKinnon and Moyo a guy who makes Bingham look prolific. After looking like sneaking an undeserved point,it was no surprise to see ball watching for the winning goal.

A lot of anger on Accies forums but I take a more philosophical view as we always lose in Perth and it will be typical Accies to win versus Aberdeen on Wednesday night.

The way we were bossed about in midfield was more concerning than the inevitable defeat and there better be a backlash as to meekly surrender bringing the bottom sides back into it is typical Accies.

    A terrible Dundee x 2.
    A terrible St Mirren x 1.
    And Motherwell x 1.

The 10 before we won against:
    Livingston, Hamilton and St Mirren

The four before that we won against:
    Dundee

Going back to the start of 2018/19 we’ve won at home against the bottom three:
    Dundee x 3
    St Mirren x 2
    Hamilton x 1
and once v Motherwell and Livingston.

    It’s not great.
    8/20 wins last season. 40%
    0/4 this season. 0%

Hamilton up next. Can we get to 20%?

Nothing to worry about as you are our eternal bogey team since the late 1970's,so expect your first home win.
