  1. Yessss. Great run from McAllister, but honking defending from County.
  2. Should there be sound on the feed yet? I'm getting just picture at the minute.
  3. How brilliant is it waking up on a Saturday with the football back again? I know it's still tough for the guys that would normally be in the ground, but still, this is fantastic. Never taking this for granted again.
  4. He's not been played up front that much, often being pinned out wide. I still think there's goals in him. I was reading the other day the comments from Dobbie about Lyndon Dykes, and some of the advice he gave him early in his career. I kinda feel like Morias could do with that kind of influence on his game.
  5. I think Morias could (should?) be given one more shot at proving himself from the start. I think his confidence is potentially on a knife-edge and bombing him out as soon as there's a viable replacement could ruin him. I'd give him the first hour and bring on Dennis if Morias isn't sitting on a hat-trick. That's just me, though, and I agree that they will probably both get some game time, almost certainly swapping with each other.
  6. Home win: 11/8 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 2/1 Ie the Bookies can't call this either. The 9/4 on the draw is probably the best bet there, but I think we will edge this. I'm going Saints to win, Junior Morias to score.
  7. While that may be true, I do think it will help to prevent clubs harvesting players to the same extent, and keeping such bloated squads. I think picking up fringe players will be where the value is.
  8. How upset are we all that Villa stayed up, btw?
  9. Lots of fans of former clubs praising him on Twitter. This is becoming a bit of a recurring theme for our signings now. Hopefully it's a good sign.
  10. Yeah, he had some season - 21 goals (19 league) for relegated Chesterfield in 17/18 and, like you said, has struggled a bit since then (edit: saw DJC's post, so maybe it's been ok). I'm not blown away, but we know how tough the market is. We need the back-up/support/competition for JOb and Mor-I-as, so keen to see what he can do. Looking at Twitter, plenty of NCFC fans seem to want him still, albeit that's not a great level.
  11. I'm not suggesting doubling up on Stewart - he's not that good - but I wonder if there's a case yet for Thor to start wide right to add a bit more physical support down that side. Edit to add italics as I wasn't slagging Stewart, just saying he wasn't good enough to justify double-marking.
  12. Same here. I realise things like this happen sometimes, but I really thought he was a future Saints captain, a few years ago. I guess he just doesn't quite have the quality Jim's looking for, because surely his commitment and attitude are fine. I guess the Champ is about his level; Morton fans weren't exactly effusive in their praise of him. I think he'll get mutually consented towards the back end of the window, perhaps when the Championship teams are finalising their squads.
  13. It's confidence bordering on arrogance, but we're cheeky so we can get away with it.
  14. Just the one change for me: McCarthy back in, if fit, for Sheron; Foley back to midfield. Fraser - Shaughessy - McCarthy - Tait McGrath - Foley - McPherson - McAllister -----------Morias - Obika -------------------- Or a version of that: in reality, McAllister, McGrath and Morias appear to have a fair bit of licence to move across the park and either fill holes out wide or in behind Obika. Durmus could easily come back in for Kyle M; I think McGrath is becoming a first-choice pick now. I promised to be less pessimistic in the Saints thread, so I'm going to predict a narrow Saints win here. Our third 1-0 of the season, Morias to get off the mark.
  15. Yeah, that's a comedy of shooting errors, from both sides. Main message to take away from that is how much I can't wait for Ryan Flynn to be fit again.
  16. Working your way up the English leagues is dead easy, tbf. I'm only surprised it hasn't occurred to more clubs to do it.
  17. My next point of anxiety is the fact that Obika's contract runs out next summer. But he seems settled, and clearly loves the support he's getting from fans, he loves his song, so maybe we can get an extension in nice and early this year. That would be the biggest side-benefit of the promised land of mid-table obscurity: being able to plan properly for a subsequent season without shitting ourselves over which league we're actually going to be in.
  18. Outstanding start to the season: we could quite feasibly have been on 0 points so far, but we're grinding out wins and, you'd hope, the goals will come eventually. I am absolutely desperate for Morias (Mor-I-as) to start finding the net; not just as a Saints fan but for the man himself. I reckon he's got goals in his locker and he is clearly getting in the right positions, which is often half the battle. If he can just chill out a bit, the goals will come. Maybe he just needs to bang in an overhead kick, Obika style, to open the floodgates. I promise I'll stop being so pessimistic now. I'll even stop worrying about the selection headache that playing 4-4-2 causes in the middle of the park.
  19. So we're agreed, no kicking the ball, no heading, ... and no running. ---> Joke about Hearts last season <---
