  1. I promised to be optimistic this season but it's hard to see past an away win here. I'm going 0-2 Hibs; I think they'll just have too much for us and our three available defenders. That said, I hope Goodwin gets that 3-5-2 shite in the sea. Shaughnessy still suspended so Foley into defence, please. Fraser - Foley - McCarthy - Tait MacPherson - Sheron Connolly - McGrath - Durmus Obika Hibs to win both halves; Goodwin to be marginally the sexier of the two managers.
  2. Our team might be wobbling, but the social media guys are still smashing it out the park:
  3. It was @djchapsticks that rightly pointed out previously the issue with bringing those guys in in the summer; their contracts run till January so we'd be unlikely to be able to get them now without fees being involved. Of course, it might be the case that we're happy to try to risk it and wait a few months before expanding the squad. Would be interested to know if LoI players can sign pre-contract agreements from now, if they're going to e be OOC at the end of December. Anyone know?
  4. I like the idea that they're going to be working under Lennon. Without wishing to earn myself a place on the Yer Da thread, he does like to play a certain way, which I think will help these guys.
  5. This can't be exclusive to St Mirren, but typically yer da's solution to every on-pitch problem is to add more attacking players to the starting line-up - to any part of the pitch - without any consideration of the formation the team plays, of who to remove, or the balance that will have on the team.
  6. I dunno, do those folk go round the internet telling people who didn't ask and don't care how much "better" their MPG figures are?
  7. As with a lot of our players from the past few seasons, he's going with nothing but best wishes from pretty much all of our support. It's a recurring theme, sadly, that guys who put in a shift in the Championship have simply been lacking at this level, and no amount of sentiment or good wishes can change that. The only guys left in the squad from the 17/18 Championship winning season are Magennis, Macpherson (who was mainly on loan at Stranraer), Erhahon (played two games that season) and Ryan Flynn.
  8. I think he was just speculating. I stand by my earlier guess that the only type of player we could possibly bring in here would either be an experienced journeyman who's happy to be back-up, or an up-and-coming young player. In neither case can I see them being better then Baird, but I'm here to be corrected.
  9. Completely unsurprising. Best move for all parties if he had zero chance of getting a game for us. We absolutely need defensive cover now, though. We literally only have four defenders.
  10. Let's say we are at full strength - Flynn and Magennis both fully match fit/sharp, which hopefully they soon will be - what's your starting line-up? It's international break, so everyone's thoughts welcome. I'd say it would leave us with some near-impossible choices in the middle of the park now. I'm going 4-2-3-1 and bringing the injured pair straight back in. We miss Flynn's tidy use of the ball in the middle of the park - nobody else really turns with it and moves it on like he does. The whole 'Magennis has to play in the middle' cliche will inevitably get raised here. I guess you could swap him and Flynn if you really wanted to. I'm sticking with McGrath, too, as I think he's been one of our better players so far. Durmus scrapes in - just - based on needing some width and pace. Cammy is the most unfortunate to miss out. That leaves us with some decent options on the bench, too - Cammy, Morias, Dennis, Connolly, McAllister all offer something different to what's on the park. ----------------------- Alnwick --------- Fraser - Shaughnessy - McCarthy - Tait ------------------- Flynn - Foley --------------- ---Magennis ------ McGrath ---- Durmus--- --------------------- Obika ------------------- Your turns. Go.
  11. Naw, he was unavailable yesterday as he's also playing for the St Mirren Women's Volleyball team.
  12. It's all well and good winning a game that's so unimportant that even our club Twitter feed hasn't mentioned it.
  13. Assumed it was a cup final going by the reaction of Hearts fans on Twitter. Bless em.
  14. I think the default has to be a 4-4-1-1, with the potential to go 4-4-2 if we need. 3-5-2 is a fucking train wreck and I'm stunned it was attempted. 4-4-2 as a starting line up doesn't enable us to compete in the middle, removes a link between midfield and forwards, and it places too much defensive responsibility on the wingers. Playing with McGrath or McAllister behind Obika, with two proper wide men, and two solid midfielders, is such a no-brainer now. If we're chasing and need to go direct, then fine, bring on an extra striker. I'm currently fearing a horsing from Hibs, tbh.
  15. Imagine being decent for a full decade and still having nobody actually care.
  16. This thread's always full of St Johnstone fans trying to manufacture a rivalry.
  17. FFS. Jim has chucked this. At least it might keep quiet the fans who just want endless attacking players piled into the team. That starting lineup was batshit.
