  1. I counted the letters three times there before Googling and discovering there's a sneaky 'gh' in his name!
  2. The difference is St.Mirren were a decent team that year until the final game. We lost 3-0 to Hearts twice, 3-0 to Hibs, 5-0 to Dundee United and 3-0 to Rangers that season. We lost 2-0 against the Bankies at Love Street earlier in the season. We, and Hearts, have since gone on to lose to Celtic by crushing margins on many, many occasions. There was absolutely nothing out of the ordinary about us losing to Celtic by that margin, when we had nothing to play for and they were going for the title. The only team responsible for Hearts blowing the title was Hearts.
  3. Lovely stuff. I'll crack on with some work and hopefully it'll have all kicked off when I come back on.
  4. As a 41-year-old former sprinter who now has to stand up in instalments, that bit rings very true
  5. They were just about to start studying really hard and raise their grades from Es to As.
  6. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/st-mirren-boss-jim-goodwin-22382887 Jim being cautiously optimistic about McAllister. No doubt the kid's got talent - fingers crossed they've got to the bottom of his issues. That'd be like a new signing.
  7. That's not good news. I was planning to take Mrs Boo for a weekend away when things are back to normal. Don't think she'd appreciate the million steps down to the beach right enough. If you avoid a bank holiday you should be grand: the money coming into the town means there's loads of decent bars and restaurants.
  8. South Shields? I loved holidays in Tynemouth when I was a wee boy. Nice! Great beaches. I think Covid, Brexit and climate change are going to combine to bring British holidays right back in vogue. Tynemouth has gone a bit 'trendy' in recent years, and not in a good way. It's become night destination of choice for folk who don't fancy Newcastle for a session. It was apparently hell on earth on that hot bank holiday during lockdown.
  9. Looks like my old high school. It's been demolished now... Was the school frequently near the bottom of the league tables?
  10. All the more sides for the Old Firm, amirite? Real talk, though: I'd not seen that stand design before. That's GOT to be a mistake. Why would they do that?
  11. First response. Slight concerns over the 'not trying' part, but sounds talented enough.
  12. I don't follow them any more (I live in South Shields now), but I know people who do. I'll get some feedback and report back. Edit: was just trying to think who the last former Cov player we signed was... The Duck!
  13. There's a strong Brexit/Trump parallel there. Reflects the mentality of society's thickest. If anything bad happens, it's a conspiracy or a lie. It's scarily easy to get people onside if you only ever tell them what they want to hear, and allow them to blame their problems on other people.
  14. They've won that exact number just to troll Hearts and it's a frankly magnificent effort.
  15. Fair point. Slightly side issue, but there's a decent chance that we - and other clubs - are hedging our bets at the moment until the outcome of the Hearts fiasco is known. I don't believe for a second that Hearts will get any meaningful compensation, but if they do, and we have to contribute, then that's at least a player gone from the budget. Once they've properly taken their rightful place at the bottom of the fucking sea, maybe the purse strings will be loosened slightly.
  16. Fair point re the injury returns. Re the bit in bold, though, I've always found the idea of bringing players in in the order that we need them to be an odd one and it's one of those weird football cliches that seems to pervade. They're going to have targets and it's completely impossible to work down that list in a linear way. We'd miss a lot of targets if we did, and it'd be mental to turn down Fitzpatrick just because we also still need a fullback.
  17. Including Drybrough and Summer Cups but not the Anglo-Scottish Cup is a frankly disgusting oversight, TBQHWY.
