  1. He's played a few games and most fans want to see him kept on as he still has something to offer. Word is the relationship between him and Jack Ross isn't the best. He's been rumoured to be leaving us all summer - at this stage, with nobody else coming in, I'd rather we kept him. If he does leave, though, it must not be to a league rival, so perhaps Ayr would make sense.
  2. Timely update here: http://www.the-gazette.co.uk/sport/15504038.St_Mirren_manager_Jack_Ross_hails_Saints_board_s_stance_on_Lewis_Morgan_and_backs_winger_to_reach_the_top/ JR doesn't seem to think he's going anywhere. I think praising the board for this, at this time, is a very shrewd move by Jack. Edit: Jack is on fire today: just seen he has just accepted his one-match touchline ban, which will now be enforced against Hearts Colts
  3. Burton are the only team that we know to have made a bid this summer - it was of the 'derisory' nature and was politely rejected. Seems strange for such a talented player to have only had one team after him, which is what makes me sure he's heading to a bigger team for a free next summer. Ie I bet neither he nor his agent are angling for anything. While as far as I'm aware, we don't need to sell, obviously we are a selling club and he'll go if they hit the right fee.
  4. Just seen on Twitter that Burton Albion have come into some money. Might be time to batten down the hatches... (My honest belief/hope is that Lewis will stay for the season, and get himself a bigger contract somewhere by going on a free.)
  5. Are you counting the league as silverware? Because I think we are right in the mix for that. Certainly the idea that Falkirk and DUFC are the candidates in a two-horse race has been blown away already. Admittedly we're one of five teams who could win it, but we deffo have a shot.
  6. I can see that point of view, and we do need to maintain momentum. But last season we needed a distraction from the league; we needed a kick start. McGinn's goal against TNS was one of several critical turning points of our season. This season we don't need that distraction, and we sure as hell don't need any injuries from some shitey colts player trying to make a name for himself. Plus, and I know this is unlikely given what happened to Celtic's colts, but what if they beat our first team? Perhaps your approach is best. Use the squad to its fullest extent, maybe bring in a couple of the fringe/youth players.
  7. 100% this. We should play the u20s. Treat that competition with the contempt it deserves.
  8. How's Loy getting on? Any danger that Local Business Consortium is going to ask for its money back?
  9. The hope I'm clinging to is that a humping from you lot catalyses our campaign like it did last season. Admittedly, it took a couple of months to take effect last season - but it is acknowledged that it was pretty much the nadir.
  10. Yes. Not as disappointed as I would have been if 1) this was happening three weeks ago before it turned out that Gavin Reilly might actually not be shit and 2) if Sutton was leaving. You're right, it's not what any of us imagined, but as long as he's just providing an experienced option from the bench, then I'm comfortable enough. Sutton is probably a 70 minute player at best.
  11. If Morton were signing a shite striker the day before playing us, there's no way I'd be taking the piss. Just in case.
  12. It now looks like Sutton could well be staying, which makes the new signing, IMO, a very useful squad addition. I'd certainly be, let's say, 'wary' if he was being signed by Dunfermline or Morton as he's exactly the sort of player who would score against us. With the proviso that Sutton is staying, I'm ok with this.
  13. Yeah. 'Replacement for Sutton'? f**k right off. 'Experienced addition to the squad'? Fine.
  14. I still think he's got potential. You'd imagine you're his last-chance saloon, though, before he ends up playing somewhere totally gash like the Indian league or something.
  15. He's not undeniably dreadful. In fact, he hasn't really stopped scoring goals at any point in his career. Nor is he about to drag the reputation of our club down. It's just that he clearly hasn't had clubs beating down his door to sign him. Also, people were just starting to believe that maybe Sutton and Reilly were a decent option, and big John has the potential to hurt us if he leaves for a rival.
  16. Guys, only one thread on the forum can be in full meltdown mode at any one time, so we're going to need you to back off for at least a day or so. That cool?
