  1. Nah, I'm bored now. Team prediction: Fraser, Shaughnessy, McCarthy. Millar, Power, Ronan, Tanser. McGrath. Main, Brophy. 2-0 home win. Magennis and Newell.
  2. John McGinn aside, all these are Jack Ross recruits, are they not? I think that's the theme.
  3. John Potter, and Craig Samson, and recently Stephen McGinn and John McGinn. Also took our kitman! Stevie Mallan via Barnsley, too.
  4. Nah, my point is it's not going to be about what a team can offer St Mirren; it's what they can afford to offer McGrath. Obviously a lot depends on how he does this season, but you could imagine any number of big Championship clubs - Boro, Sheff Utd, Forest, West Brom, etc etc - taking a punt on him on a free transfer.
  5. I can't actually see us getting Scott Allan. It made sense as a makeweight in a McGrath deal, but from Jan McGrath will be talking to clubs that can significantly outbid Hibs, for a PCA. He won't be commanding a fee so will be in line to get a really decent contract. It's clear to see how and why the Hibs/McGrath deal almost unfolded at the end of the summer window, but circumstances will be significantly different in January.
  6. Like Alloa appointing Peter Grant just to stop us poaching their managers (worked like a charm), we have recently embarked upon a somewhat 'different' recruitment strategy with a view to Hibs not wanting any of our players.
  7. Yeah, fair point on all fronts. My first Saints game was the 87 cup final - I had just turned 8 - and I struggled with the game itself (I doubt I was the only one...), though the scale of the occasion kept me interested. Might leave it a couple of years.
  8. Separate question for any of you guys with kids: what age tends to be good to take them to their first games? My older boy is 5 (and a half... that bit's important) now and does ask about Saints a fair bit, but he's never sat through a full game on the TV yet. Obviously I've got a fair bit of travelling to build in as well so it takes more planning.
  9. They're probably waiting to get tonight's Europa game out the way firs... oh. Nah, seriously, the apathy seems fairly strong right across the board atm. The fact we've a) had a thoroughly mediocre start and b) we've got a horrendous record against Hibs recently aren't helping my personal enthusiasm for the weekend.
  10. I actually like the look of that. But increasingly wonder if Flynn will ever play for us again. Pleased to see Reid getting a look. It can't have been fun seeing a defender getting picked in your position.
  11. Dunne put is interesting. You'd imagine that will prevent any McCarthy in midfield insanity. Fraser, Shaughnessy and McCarthy at CB, Millar and Tanser at WB seems nailed on. In front of that... f**k knows. I'm hoping Flynn gets a game alongside Ronan, with McGrath in front, but it's really anyone's guess.
  12. We do seem to have some fairly shit-hot physios. Whatever secret sauce they used on McGrath might work for Cammy. I wouldn't normally think we'd be in a hurry to help the Fakes out, but then I wouldn't normally think we'd be loaning them players full stop.
  13. How long's he out for? McGrath came back incredibly quickly from his dislocated shoulder. Will Cammy be back with us to receive treatment?!
  14. You never have to go very far to find a different football club whose fans are complaining online about all the same things that ours do
  15. Failure to win this by at least four clear goals will show how far we have regressed since the winter.
  16. He's literally one of my favourite people, but most of us have been saying for a couple of years now that he's not right for that role. I hope we give him the chance to move on with dignity. I've always said he should be a club ambassador or something.
  17. On the plus side, Ronan will hopefully keep Ethan on the bench now (when Power's available.)
  18. That's Cammy done at St Mirren. He's out of contract next season and there's no way he'll be extending after this. Great move for him; being given a chance to prove himself in a better team for a better manager. If he does well, they might offer him a PCA. If he struggles, I'm sure he'll still get a top flight gig next season. Or maybe Goodwin's replacement will try to recall him in January, if that's even an option
