I pretty much said that in a post earlier, the main young beneficiaries of this are unlikely to be that of international qualitiy I agree. Yeah Queens deserve slight recognition but lets face it Celtic picked him up at 14. We had had Andrew Robertson until he was 15 but We wouldn't be taking much credit (if any at all) really for him. Im not a supporter of the colt idea so Im not scraping any barrel to justify it, I only started speaking in this thread as somebody said we didnt produce players. I would probably be more inclined to watch a Colt side than a reserve side if Celtic weren't playing that day but I cant see many turning up. Your not the first person on here to mistake me for a colt supporter but such is the anger against people are looking to vent their disdain they are just arguing against points Im not making. Such is the anger it is causing I dont really want to see it go ahead if it means fans chucking their season books.

Reserve league was sh*t, when I worked offshore I used to go to Airdrie the odd time to watch Celtic. Crowds were tiny and the tempo of the game was crap.

Just going off spending power is looking at it way too simplistically. The better the team the harder it is to get in to, which is why first team football elsewhere is benefical a lot of the time first. A lot of it though is down to the current manager who must bite the bullet and give the player proper game time. No disagreement however over it being self interest though. The likes of those two got us nearly 3 million I think. Not so funny now. I also for got the likes of Mcgeady,watt and Kennedy.

Does he? Hes not of the sweeper keeper variety which is why he got punted from Man city. Also his wages will be astronomical. Were getting Boruc back and thats that.

Im saying players will have more of a chance of getting in to the team if they are able to play competitive football at a young age whilst being trained and monitored by their own staff. How much of a benefit this is to the national team is very much debateable and if it pisses off lower league fans that much it really isnt worth the risk. The main benefit I would say is to the players who in the past stay on at Celtic too long with a couple of sub apperances if their lucky to their name. They are usually about 20/21 and leave with little professional game time, chances of them making it to a Scotland team are pretty slim but at least they would now have a seasons worth of senior football to their name. This Doesn't really benefit Scottish football as a whole just them and the next club they are going to. Not really worth the furore this is causing for me.

The same could be said for just about every English premier league club yet we see hardly any coming through there, a lot of it though is down to them not wanting to risk throwing players in. We however do that now if they are working hard enough and have the talent. I dont think its me being disingeuous. Forrest has been one of our best players this season so yes. Macgregor has played over 30 games already this season sommust be there abouts. These are strange points to be arguing as they are clear talents. Im not arguing about whether colts is a good idea as a whole I was just disputing somebody wrongly claiming we dont produce players. Can only speak for Celtic but we currently have 3 in the team (Macgregor,Forrest and Tierney) with Johnston making the bench most weeks now. Ralston would have played a good few times as if he didnt get injured.For a team as good as our thats pretty decent, how many do you honestly expect Celtic to have? Rodgers has said there is talent in Scotland but its the players attitudes thats stops him from signing more scottish talent. This may be why he just doesnt chuck players in who attitude wise may not merit a chance and then think they have made it after a few appearances. I have a feeling putting some of them in league 2 and finding out they arent quite as good as they think they are may provide a reality check for them. I can understand why lower league clubs are opposed to Colt teams but to suggest Celtic dont produce much in the way of youth is a bit silly given it has been pretty much the hardest team to get in to in Scotland since the turn of the millenium yet off the top of my head since then McManus, Marshall, Beattie, O’Dea, Smith, Mulgrew,Miller, Maloney, Wallace have all contributed. Add in ones who didnt play much ( if at all) but we still made money are the likes of Sheridan and Feruz. We also made a few quid off the other ones so the academy can near enough pay for itself.

Looks like the Musonda deal is going to be 18 months? Pretty good going that. Some people might moan about getting loan players but quite simply we cant afford to pick up the sort of quality like Roberts and Musonda on permanent deals as getting Dembele was a bit of a fluke imo. Getting long term loans is the second best option. Gordon may play again this season now but we still need another keeper. Apparently loan signings outwith Scotland aren’t affected by the maximum restrictions so could pick up somebody half decent. Wasn’t too fussed about Hendry coming but given that Rodgers is looking to play 3 at the back now and Compper injured straight away we only 3 fit recognised centre halfs so might as well try and get him in now.

However we are starting to play 3 at the back more often now with only 3 fit recognised centre halfs, one of which cant really play twice a week. Because of this Dundee could play hardball more knowing that we are a bit short and will struggle to get anybody else of note at short notcie.

Agreed, financially compared to EPL we are relative diddys, we also accept bids coming in is inevitable if the team and players are doing well. Its standard to start off well below the clubs valuation to test the water I just find it amusing that scottish clubs seem to think it is unique to them when Celtic come calling.

Any bid can unsettle a player if they want to go. Same happened with Moussa, Gordon and Van Dijk before him, its not unique to diddy teams despite the greeting that goes on here about Celtic making bids for scottish players.

Will be interesting to see who we get in the next few days. We definitely need another goalkeeper as the young lad Hazard has gone on loan to Falkirk. We are also back to square one with centre backs with Commper getting injured. I was wanting Moussa to leave but not now Griffiths is injured. We now seem to be worse off after the winter break.

I said earlier in the thread that Hendry would be best staying at Dundee untill the end of the season as he hasnt played a great amount of games in his career. However given that we signed a defender who got injured straight away I cant see it being part of any agreement now. Defence was the biggest issue for us at the start of the window but now it appears to be needing a goalkeeper and a striker due to more injuries so you might find we will cool our interest a bit now anyway.

Bourc isn't getting a game at Bournemouth....
