  1. The big man's confirmed he's leaving on his Twitter page. This leaves Bomber and Davie Irons with a big challenge. We need two centre-backs for next season (maybe even three, depending on where the management intends to field Ross Meechan) and, off the top of my head, I can't really think of any established defenders who might be available. Ben Gordon? Bryan Wharton? Gerry McLauchlan? I would imagine these boys would have their eye on teams a little further up the food chain.
  2. Whereabouts are you seeing this? Everyone at the club talks very highly of Stuart Malcolm and his positive influence in the dressing room but, my God, he was a shocking player last term. I won't cover old ground, you can read all that elsewhere in the thread, but he looked finished at League 1 level and completely past his best. Mistake followed mistake followed mistake. Can't see him joining another club in this division but I could imagine him doing a job for someone like the Shire in the Lowland League.
  3. Pretty decent - when he plays well, the team seems to play well. Chipped in with about 10 goals for the season too. He's signed up for the new campaign and I reckon this must be the first time he's stayed at a club for more than 12 months.
  4. Lewis Small's probably been signed up to beef up the numbers more than anything else. He came onto a bit of a game towards the end of the season but I can't remember him doing anything outrageous during his time at Stenhousemuir, other than scoring a late equaliser against Cowdenbeath on his debut. I can't really think of him possessing an outstanding attribute but he works hard and will graft for the team. Best of luck to him.
  5. The Rhythm Method are touring with Spector are are playing at Stereo in Glasgow on Monday 30 May. See you there, lads!
  6. Looked very latter-day WCW, especially with the mops and buckets there.
  7. I'd take your hand off for a striker like Jamie Longworth but I imagine we'll be somewhere at the back of the queue for his signing. Albion Rovers and East Kilbride seem the likelier destinations, sadly.
  8. He'd be an asset to most teams in the division. It was alleged he'd left the club after an argument with Davie Irons so Bomber's explanation that he didn't fit into the management's new tactical vision seems a bit disingenuous. All the best to him, he did us a decent turn towards the end of the season.
  9. That's fair enough, I wasn't at that match (I haven't been to many away matches this season - one game on the road all year, an all-time low) but from having seen him at home, he's still a very handy player. He's someone who'll give 100 per cent every match and is always willing to put himself about, even if it's to no great effect. He still has something to offer. I don't think he's finished, far from it, but I don't think he can be our main striker this season. We'll need another couple of forwards in, no doubt about it. I don't think any team in the division can go into the season with a 35-year-old as their key frontman. (Scotland, meanwhile, looked done by the time the season came to a close. He started off superbly but an injury over Christmas really seemed to drain the goodness from him. Even if he wasn't retiring I would still have moved him on.)
  10. Haven't heard anything back from big Jim Paterson either. I agree with Stirling and Carlos, I think they've both got lots to offer. Get Carlos in the hole and build the entire team around him.
  11. Here's an interesting interview with the manager and an update on some signings - CLICK. In addition to those mentioned above, Jamie McCormack, Alan Cook and Allan Smith have agreed terms for next season. Happy enough with that, they all played well in spells over the course of the last year. The big challenge will be getting Smith up to full fitness, Christ knows when he'll be over the worst of his lurgy.
  12. Sean Dickson, Ross Smith and Ross McGeachie have all signed on for next term. I hope it goes better for you than I did last year. I look through that squad and I really liked everyone during their time at the Warriors (Ross Smith aside).
  13. Colin McMenamin has just tweeted announcing he's staying for another season. Very pleased with this, he's never let us down in the last two years. Get another couple of solid strikers in alongside him and we'll be looking alright up top.
  14. Cheers for clearing that up, Euan. All the best with whatever team you join next.
  15. He was alright. He's a tank of a boy, he's decent in the air and very aggressive to boot, but he could be lackadaisical at the worst possible moments - he cost us goals against Cowdenbeath and Ayr United through dreadful lapses. I would have kept him on, though, I thought there was something to work with there.
  16. I wonder how we'll line up next season, providing the guys who have been offered deals stay on. X, quite obviously, denotes a new player: - X - X - - Cook - Millar - Stirling - Gilhaney - - Summers - X - X - Meechan - - X -
  17. Here's the update on the club's website - CLICK. Not sure what to make of the list of released players, to be honest. Half of them I can understand - Jason Scotland was always going to be leaving to return to Trinidad at the end of the season, Jamie Barclay had a horrible year for us, and Anthony Marenghi barely kicked a ball - but I can't agree with getting rid of Jon Robertson at all, he had a lot to offer us, and Euan Murray was decent enough and would have made a handy squad player for next year. Brown Ferguson must have a couple of centre-backs lined up if this is the case. I'm happy Ciaran Summers and Mark Gilhaney (and Laim McCroary) have agreed new deals, they looked decent at times over the season and I expect them to kick on, to borrow terrible footballer patter. This means everyone else will have been offered terms for next season. I'm surprised Stuart Malcolm wasn't on the released list but I'd be content if he's taking on a reduced role that focuses on coaching (and not playing). Everyone seems to think very highly of him so if he's a good guy to have around the place, then so be it. I'm fine with everyone else staying on, despite the team's tendency to capitulate, there's a decent core in there. Bring in five or six new faces - a goalie, two centre-backs, a midfielder and a couple of strikers - and there's hope for the future. Still annoyed about Jon Robertson though, that sucks.
  18. Very disappointing we've had to let the Falkirk Herald update us on player movements but I'm sorry to see Jon Robertson move on. Not sure what the motivations are here or whether or not he wanted to leave but he would have been someone I would have kept, 100 per cent.
  19. Last night's episode was all over the place. There was such a grinding shift in tone between Sonia and Peggy getting their biopsy results and Mick and Linda getting propositioned by Nev and Belinda was really weird and didn't hang together at all. There was, however, a very funny moment when Mick took off his Union Jack towel to reveal a pair of Union Jack dookers.
  20. Big Rab was beginning to look a little creaky by the time he left Forfar Athletic last season. He's still a big lump of a boy and could organise a defence and command his area like no-one else, but he just looked slower and less agile than before. His age was definitely catching up with him.
  21. Ryan McCord is an astonishing piece of business. If there's a better midfielder in League 2 next season I'll be very surprised. If Omar Kader can recapture the same form before he joined Alloa Athletic he'll be a star. Michael Dunlop's a very decent stopper. Some pretty handy signings in here. This is looking like a team that could challenge for the title.
  22. I think old Moonglum was being sarcastic but, to be fair, some people just want to go along and watch their team on a Saturday without having to chip in with the running of the club. I don't think there's anything wrong with that at all.
  23. You've missed my point - the club shouldn't have to respond to rumours and gossip whenever you click your fingers, they should just deal in hard facts. If indeed the club's in trouble - and I've heard on the contrary - then I'm sure they'll address it. All your posts, both on here and the SFC forum, seem to be exclusively complaints and petty grievances. I don't think the support is dwindling because a club office has failed to post whether or not Alan Cook is suspended.
  24. I hear what you're saying and yes, the lack of updates on the official site can be pretty frustrating, but you seem to get pent up, on this forum and the Stenhousemuir board, because the club don't respond to every rumour or piece of gossip you've heard. I remember you were unhappy earlier in the season because the club didn't clarify a rumour we'd signed Chris McCluskey to cover in goal! Just take a step back and accept this is the way it is.
  25. Other than Marc McKenzie and Andy Stirling, all of them played under Martyn Corrigan during his 18-month run as manager. Bryan Hodge will be a smashing signing. I'm not sure how well he did at Forfar Athletic last year (not very well, probably) but he was a class act for us. Always loved his wee scoop slide tackles and the way he'd do a 360-degree pivot to turn away from bother.
