  1. We also used to get a lot of flack for having Declan Gallagher in the team.... Oh wait.
  2. Yes; they were playing on fumes at the end at Partick. De Vita was on crutches; Hardie was phuqued as well wasn't he? As I recall the playoff's were two a week as well weren't they.
  3. Apparently he's been training with the squad for a few days now so could possibly come on as a sub; subject to the score line at the time of course EDIT - at 6'4" he could be what we've been looking for as a target for the long throws as well.
  4. Wouldn't take anything for granted with United. Their tails are up at the moment and we need to be on our game from the off (plus need to keep 11 players on the pitch).
  5. A phrase that always fascinated me; I suppose it tend to imply you don't play open expansive football allowing the opposition to walk into your penalty area at will?
  6. Firstly thank you for proving that I have learnt absolutely nothing from watching football for sixty plus years. For the first half that was absolutely not a St Johnstone side by any measure that I use to view a side that always seemed to manage to give us a tough game irrespective of the result. I remember the season when we were promoted to the SPL (2001/2002) when Saints ended up dropping down to the first; they still seemed a better side that we saw in the first half. (I still remember the Santa conga performed by the travelling Saints fans at half time - fantastic guys.) And yet that has to be wrong; prior to their current five(?) game losing streak I would probably have betted on them finishing in the top half of the division. Second half I started to see glimpse of the kind of side I'd expect to see; a shadow of some sides of the past but leastways with a bit of bite and a side that was able to take full advantage of our shaky ten minutes however much I'll try to blame that on the weather Its a strange one; a convincing win away from home if great news particularly against a mid table Premiership side; yet I feel strangely deflated. Maybe after I've defrosted a bit more I'll be able to post something more positive.
  7. If "Skelped" is conceding one goal then there's a good chance - more than one goal and you must have re-signed Efe Ambrose.
  8. Quick question - is there a time limit on parking at Tesco Extra? I know there's parking at the ground but I might need to put some more charge into the car.
  9. Was surprised it took people so long to come up with that one.
  10. Does not the fact that he's dead preclude him from selection?
  11. Yep; the grumbling prostate is a bu@@er. Ages to start and never know when you're finished.
  12. Interesting article: Particularly when he gets to the three exits who I read as inclusive of Kabia and Konovalov. Jamie Brandon is on a three year deal but is carrying a long term injury. He is undoubtedly a talented player and a right back so presumably good cover for Devlin. Maybe one of the three could be Josh Mullin or maybe Jack Hamilton (forward) TBH most of our squad have at least made regular appearances off the bench; one exception being Phillip Cancar but he's had his share of injuries and is only 21. I dont like predicting who's "for-the-door" but conversely you could argue that some are at the stage of their career where they need to be playing regularly in order to develop. Maybe that means a loan deal but I don't think we'd be that keen in loaning out players if they werent likely to get a regular start; particularly if we were paying the lions share (all?) of their wages?
  13. Interestingly it sounds like Goncalves; Bahamboula and Kabia all had a strong game for the reserve lions and Hamilton saved a penalty.
  14. Pretty sure I'd seen that somewhere as well. That being said if he's not able to start training until February then it will be several months until he's match fit, I imagine.
  15. Isn't there already another thread on this game? Tone seems to be the same though
  16. Aren't Ayr United in a similar position with the condition of Somerset Park? Edit - just read the following "It was confirmed that the SPFL statutes only required grounds to have 'bronze standard' facilities (500 covered places), meaning Somerset would be accepted as a Premiership venue with minimal improvement" - Confused!
  17. Started well enough with us but got injured and was very slow to recover. Doesnt seem to have been a success for Morton. Dtarted a few games for then but faded out of favour. As I recall he played both attaching midfield or inverted winger; also one or two outings as a false number nine. Claim to fame - getting Scott Brown sent off at Celtic Park.
  18. TBH QoS is probably quite a good club to cut your teeth on. Compact and relatively well run; good history of bring players through and selling on for a good profit; local support with little baggage. No obvious local derby opposition that I am aware of though( do Annan or Gretna count?).
  19. You know we're struggling for squad depth when we have two goalkeepers on the bench.
  20. Ah but you're forgetting we have Esmaël Gonçalves; the Bissau-Guinean Maradona
  21. For me Bahamboula is best far over on the wing. One on one he can beat pretty much anyone; but seems to struggle when up against multiple defenders; maybe beating a couple of challenges only to come unstuck on the third. With Bahamboula and Montano putting balls in to the penalty area all we need is someone to latch on and put then in - unfortunately that's not been happening lately
  22. Not sure about Shinnie TBH. Bit of a luxury player for holding when you're winning IMO. I'd still go for starting with Kelly personally.
  23. Have to go back to 8th November before we scored more than one goal in a game which is strangely the same for County. Therefore its got to be a 5-5 goal-fest (and I need to give up eating left over blue cheese)
