  1. Yes - the Partick match was one I still watch occasionally when I need cheering up - a very special day. And O love to look at the guy slapping his forehead as Jacobs goal goes in.
  2. It was Livi4Ever that did that. For Martindale it think we should also include all the work he did as assistant manager (or whatever his title was then) with al the recruitment and training. For Leishman though he was great at getting "bums-on-seats". He was repeatedly at various prize giving's around the town; usually appeared in an open topped bus for the various gala days (when they existed) and really put himself out to market the product.
  3. Hmmm... I think the boy we had on loan from Birmingham managed it last season. I think Josh Mullin may have done as well but that could have been two years ago.
  4. David Hay won the cup Leishman won the First Division as champions.
  5. That's assuming Dundee don't come up Stop it. I'm having to wipe tea off my keyboard now.
  6. It looks like Jack Hamilton's loan to Hartlepool isn't going well. He's only made a handful of appearances from the bench and recently doesnt seem to have been in the squad at all. I'm assuming his niggling injury hasn't cleared up.
  7. I hadn't thought of that -of course the announcement was that only Season Ticket holders could buy tickets - that also appears to be the case for Celtic supporting tickets on Sunday - they are only selling them to their season ticket holders. It is actually quite interesting to see all the posts on Twitter (if you type in "livingston celtic tickets" in the search) all the prospective ticket touts posting various plea's for tickets. The touts will manage to get hold of some but its looking like they'll be few and far between and will carry a substantial premium.
  8. If we're having problems spare a though for the pundits at the BEEB. a few weeks back Aberdeen were bobbling around in the bottom half; now they're being lauded as the third force in Scottish football,
  9. Wish I could share your optimism but remember this is a side that has scored 14 goals in their last three matches. Hopefully this time we wont opt to play a player who has a hairline fracture in his leg? Thinking back the Dykes goal was marvellous; but I loved the way Lamie had Julien in his back pocket for most of the game. As for Sunday the only thing I can be sure of is that some people will be moaning about away support in the home "end". Hopefully Montano will be fit to play.
  10. A point away from home at Ibrox - normally I'd be very happy for that but this seems like a loss. Maybe because this was our best chance since Ally McCoist was in charge?
  11. Still only 10 points between third and twelfth. Any team suffering a sluggish restart after the world cup and they could find themselves deep in the mire.
  12. I wonder if its worth a visit to Follow Follow? Who's going to be the first to suggest a return of Gerard?
  13. Don't think its worth my customary advising the away supporters to bring sunglasses for their seat in the East stand - the chances of seeing the sun today are as slim as us scoring a second goal. Big question though is what is the guest pie today? I'm betting steak and pedigree chum in recognition of the one-man-and-his-dug challenge match.
  14. Every year I'm writing him off Every year I'm proved wrong BUT..... One year I'll be right (if I live that long)
  15. Every year I question why a ninety year old Stevie May, and his Zimmer frame, still managed to into the saints team. Every year he pulls out all the stops against us. The world is all wrong!
  16. We played Newcastle in a friendly in 2003...that was my first Livi game. I'm slightly worried about this weekend as I've not heard anything from the club yet in regards to times etc Chase them up. Its probably different to when we did it but We arrived at the stadium 2 - 3 hours before kick off. Some refreshments in the board room; tour of the stadium including sitting in the home dugout. Then meet the players and autograph opportunity. Then up to the Ferranti suite before warming up with the team. We also managed to get a few extra complimentary seats for other family members but that was when Dee Robertson was involved. Might have been trimmed down now; the price doesn't seem to have changed much in 20 years.
  17. My eldest son was a mascot for the Newcastle friendly (2001?) during Barcelos' (sp) short term as manager. It was a fantastic day; the club did up proud. Enjoy it; its a day she (and you) will never forget.
  18. Well the two goals wont be to us. We don't score more than one unless its against someone easy like Kelty Hearts or Hibs.
  19. If its the one I'm thinking of I didn't see it as a red personally; that being said I suppose it doesn't matter now; and we have had players sent off this season for less. Finally got round to watching the highlights on Sportscene and it looked a far better game than I remember; maybe my frustration coloured my vision.
  20. Yes; the stats pretty much speak for themselves but even then there were umpteen occasions where we seemed to want to take the extra touch in hope of getting the perfect shot rather than simply having a go. Previously we would have relied on Pittman to fill the shoot on sight role but even he seemed to have left his shooting boots in the dressing room - although he did have a good attempt later on. Actually young Kelly when he came on seemed far more willing to have a go outside the area than pretty much anyone else the entire game. I used to love Malcolm McDonald's philosophy in the seventies of "shoot on sight; by the law of averages some are bound to go in" although I'm pretty sure a lot of managers would frown on that in the modern game. Rightly or wrongly people tend to view a shot saved as a missed opportunity. However. the important question is.... did the beef and Satay sauce pie work? I enjoyed mine but don't think I'd pick it again ahead of our steak and gravy.
  21. Firstly let me say congratulations to our County friends and well done to the 100 hardy souls who made the long trek down despite the travel uncertainties. On to the game; our defensive frailty cost us one point but remember that failing to convert our chances cost us three. Sure we missed Fitzwater and Montano started to struggle against the new County winger when he came on but that's not what cost us the points. Whatever the formation we ended last season with Nouble playing on the right wing e most people seemed to think he played the best, but, at the beginning of this season, he was moved into a more central role where he caused absolute chaos plus chalked up a couple of goals. Some of his play on the left wing has been very good, particularly when he seems to be able to ghost past two defenders, and put the ball into the box but that was only any good if there was someone there to capitalise and take the shot. Time and again the County CD (and defensive midfield) were there to mop it up or close down any attacking option. Bahamboula wasn't his normal impressive self and got robbed too easily but then, in my opinion, the left wing has generally been his better position. Guthrie tried hard but; well how can I put it, when he took his shirt off after the game I'd imagine it was three sizes too big - the number of times it was tugged or held on to. I notice that some players in the English premiership now wear shirts a size or two too big so that someone holding on to it is far more evident to the officials. Personally I don't really see why Shinnie is deserving of a starting berth these days; he's undoubtedly a skilful player with a good knowledge of the game but I'm not sure our current makeup allows for someone wandering around the pitch doing his own thing. Another gripe I had was that all of our high balls into the area; I think we got to about two of them and they were stifled out. We have one of the tallest front lines in the league and yet couldn't win a header? As much as I'm moaning about that it was also evident that County had done their homework and were well drilled for our set pieces etc. I know the general feeling was that we were robbed but I see it somewhat differently. We should have won but didn't do enough to win it; County came for a draw; set their strategy up as such and achieved their main aim. The goal due to our own mix up was pretty much of our own making. Simply put, if we couldn't break down the defence then we didn't deserve to win; it should however be remembered the fact that we couldn't was due in no small part to County's discipline and well drilled defence. I cannot believe that this is the same defence that let in five against Motherwell at home a few days back?????
