  1. Whilst I applaud your sentiments I think your analysis strays into wishful thinking. A patient lying I'll in bed is unwilling to kick the nurse and that is how a lot of the electorate views the Tories. I'm a former Labour voter but I'd have real problems voting for a Corbyn-led party; not because of all the usual shit but because I consider him to be an utterly lamentable leader who has assembled a shadow cabinet of mediocrity. What I'm really saying is that faced with a dismal choice most voters will stick with their default position. And history is not on Labour's side.
  2. You see, this is what happens..... deprived of any juicy tidbits we all start savaging each other like wild dogs in the Serengeti.
  3. Mea culpa, it's an absolute fair cop. But maybe the fact that I'd never even heard of this group speaks volumes about the way in which Israel has become almost permanently front and centre in British politics. Just why is that ?
  4. Can anyone tell me why there is a group called 'Labour Friends Of Israel' and not one called say 'Labour Friends Of Argentina' or 'Labour Friends Of India ?' Are there Labour Party members who have a mission to rebut any criticism of the actions of the Israeli Government and who are intent on closing down debate on the subject ?
  5. As is probably Margaret Hodge, but right on cue here she pops up again on the BBC News delivering yet more broad-brush condemnation, devoid of any hard facts to substantiate it.
  6. Indeed. Whilst I don't doubt that there has been some very nasty and almost certainly anonymous invective circulating perhaps this whole issue has less to do with ingrained anti-Semitism within the Corbyn-led Labour Party, and much more to do with a much diminished Jewish and indeed pro-Israeli influence within that same Corbyn-led Labour Party. Having let the hare out of the traps, there are people who for whatever reason are quite happy to see the media dogs run in pursuit of it. And once the issue gains a critical media mass, then it is only a matter of time of before an army of sectarian keyboard warriors dive right into the elephant trap to reinforce the narrative. Methinks, Hodge, Berger, Mann, Austin et al protest too much, and I smell an agenda.
  7. They'll turn up if there's a packet of Olde English Spangles for every attendee [emoji39]
  8. Surely time for another one of Her Majesty's dramatic interventions from the Sandringham Women's Institute. Or perhaps Gordon Brown from a foodbank in Cowdengelly.
  9. Not if they look the Leave voters straight in the eye and communicate firmly but consensually to them why their original vote was mistaken. Or are you seriously suggesting that they should shut up for fear of offending the Leave constituency ? A right principled stance that would be, even by recent Labour standards.
  10. I'm assuming that every SNP candidate is expected to believe in Scottish independence. Why then couldn't any of the parties have it as a prerequisite that all candidates firmly adhere to the manifesto commitmnt on Brexit ? And after the last two years it surely isn't too much to ask that Labour comes out firmly to Remain ?
  11. And here was me thinking this was a forum for communal discussion and not a vehicle for pretension. Ach weel....
  12. An election. With the Tories and Labour presumably again standing on manifesto commitments to respect the 'result of the Referendum' - how exactly would that take us forward ? Or are you suggesting that Corbyn might be drugged persuaded to alter Labour's stance on a commitment to a second vote ?
  13. Expect Gavin Williamson to urge carpet-bombing Turkey by Tuesday at the latest.
  14. Alternative views are available..... https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/17453215.kevin-mckenna-if-we-truly-believe-in-britains-superior-sense-of-decency-then-let-shamima-begum-come-home/
  15. Incidents. I'm no fan of Corbyn as I've posted on here, but that list doesn't amount to a hill of beans when set beside the war crimes of Blair, Straw, Hoon, etc., the cheerleading of Cameron for Libyan insurrection, the sale of lethal ordnance on May's watch enabling Saudia Arabia to eviscerate Yemeni children, and not forgetting Thatcher's sinking of the Belgrano. I could go on but I'm sure you get the drift.
  16. If it's a pair I know then yes, provided the footballers play for Craigmark Burntonians.
  17. I think the EU would accede to an extension on two grounds; one, they will not be forced to blink first but more importantly they will be viewing the growing contagion in UK politics with the hope that in the passage of not much more time the Tory Government may collapse and/or a General Election otr People's Vote is called, thus potentially completely altering the entire dynamics of Brexit. If it were to be a GE then I fervently hope that every party other than the Tories comes out with a firm manifesto commitment to Revoke Article 50 - never mind any more dancing to the trune of these mad, deluded b*****ds. The worst outcome of all would be for weasel words to enable May's deal to stagger across the line.
  18. Aberfeldy on the subs bench.... now there's perhaps an omen; when we gubbed East Fife 4-0 I was actually in Aberfeldy and celebrated by drinking, er, Aberfeldy.
  19. Mueller will need to drop a neutron bomb on the White House. The Trump administration may be the most corrupt, criminal, racist, dysfunctional and batshit crazy in US history but in this post-truth Age Of Stupid virtually nothing will stick to this intellectual dwarf. We can only hope that Mueller's time has been well spent.
  20. Playing the man and not the ball is never a good look on a public forum buddy [emoji6]
  21. They bloody well should have; in the late 1950's, 1958 IIRC, Accrington Stanley fielded an all Scottish starting eleven. Ungrateful Lancashire inbreds.
