  1. Yes, much more professional than the SJFA. But it's not so long since Petrie (and Maxwell?) turned up to a meeting with the EoSFL and didn't even know there was an HL/LL boundary.
  2. SFA act bizarrely? Yes, hard to believe.
  3. IF it's true, it should be dealt with by the SFA. It's their rule that was (allegedly) broken. Nothing to do with the WoSFL.
  4. AFAIK Darvel haven't broken any league rules, it's an SFA matter. So no points deduction.
  5. The rules being broken were the SFA's, not the league's, so it's the SFA's job to take action.
  6. SFA Article 94.1, bringing the game into disrepute. And 96.6, "A recognised football body, club, official, Team Official, other member of Team Staff, player or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA shall, at all times, act in the best interests of Association Football and shall not act in any manner which is improper ..."
  7. I seem to recall that the junior clubs were invited to the party when it was proposed, but decided to sulk instead.
  8. By that logic, no-one should ever be punished for anything. The Yorkshire Ripper was just the one who got caught ....
  9. They'll never get there if they jump through the hurdles ...
  10. Nowadays? Were players never caught out in pubs and clubs the night before big games back in the "good old days"? Was Jimmy Johnstone adrift in a rowboat off Largs in 1974 a figment of my imagination?
  11. So when both pitches were being used by fewer than four different teams., how did that work?
  12. Excellent research, sir! SSJFA seems to have had plenty of money. Maybe they were ahead of their time with sponsorship!
  13. The hallmark is dated 1918 and shows it's 9-carat gold. I think it's unlikely that Scottish junior (or indeed any) football authorities would be handing out solid gold medals in wartime. They're not known for big spending at the best of times. Plus, according to Wikipedia, "During World War I top flight football continued as usual ... all other football was suspended although unofficial competitions did take place" Very mysterious.
  14. I'm all in favour of licensing, but two things I don't understand. "Visible from the outside" is only detrimental to the club itself, in lost revenue. If there's a game where the gate is shared, it shouldn't be difficult to find a formula which encourages them to fix the fence, e.g 80% of the gate going to the visitors. Catering - again, the lack of this is only detrimental to the club. And of course to those spectators who can't last two hours without a pie. Surely we should be saving from themselves, in line with the current anti-obestity drive?
  15. That is appalling. Much worse than the home strip. Horrible colour combination, too much detailing, awful collar. Looks like a runner-up to Linfield's controversial strip.
  16. Further? They haven't had any punishment yet. The award of costs is not a punishment. They certainly have the "right to stand up for their interests", There was a mechanism for them to do so, and to which they'd agreed, but chose to ignore. So punishment is entirely appropriate and well-deserved.
  17. Professionalism in Scottish football became legal in 1893. Have you only just noticed?
  18. Surely the Juniors would welcome them with open arms. After all, they're famously flexible, open minded, forward thinking and inclusive. In no way are they bound by outdated traditions and prejudices.
  19. Belfast Celtic were real enough. They beat Scotland 2-0 in 1949, after which the SFA resolved never to play a club side again.
  20. It doesn't get any better by being posted in multiple threads.
  21. 1. So a 20-team league would have 12 part-time teams. That's going to bring Sky running with their cheque book. 2. What would be the attraction for the Scottish, and especially Welsh, clubs? 3. What is a "County Part"? 4. Why All The Unnecessary (And Wrong) Capitals? 5. When do the schools go back?
  22. Yes, by the Football League. IFAIK there never was a maximum in Scotland.
  23. No, it should be called the 4th Division.
