  1. Hmmm I think the chairman of Cowdenbeath might be on the fence of this one.....
  2. Learn to read. They have been found guilty of not fully disclosing all relevant paper work. The players were properly registered.
  3. We have a club to watch and we follow them. Ploughed fields, youth team players starting, small towns etc etc all the same. Hard as it is for the haters to understand, we are fans of a football club and will follow it through the rough with the smooth.
  4. Bit of a strong northerly wind early today. Took some puff out my legs on the outward stretch. Nice and dry though, thats always a plus.
  5. The speeds have dropped very markedly over the past few years and it has been thought that Evans last year was pretty clean. Also the weight of people competitive in the mountains has come down in a very notable way. The sport of road cycling is 'cleaner', if not guaranteed clean. But at the same time medical science has not stood still. Techniques for fluid replacement and re-hydration are better than a decade or so ago. As I understand it its now intravenous drips, by passing the digestions system. Training for individuals can be much better targeting at squeezing improvements out of them. Most sports will have their dopers and I remain more than a little nonplussed that football has caught so few. But road cycling completely lost the plot in the 90s-2000s and doping was just taken as part of the sport by those at the top. (This is likely still the case in certain US pro sports today). The crackdown has taken the blatant cheating and hopefully making it every harder for others to find gaps.
  6. Weeks of agony and pain. Hour after hour of overcoming agony and the will of he body to take a wee rest. Up mountains most would crack walking up. Finding in yourself with it all the grace to slow down because someone had laid out tacks. Completing the tour is an amazing human endevour. Winning it makes you slightly more amazing than the rest.
  7. Good over shoes to keep the toes warm and good gloves to keep the fingers and in the real cold something round the ears. Generally as long as those bits are well wrapped, once you get a few miles in, the work keeps you warm.
  8. Depends on the individual and what 'depression' they are experiencing. But not taking it seriously people could then not seek help that could massively improve their life. Just because it works for you does not mean it is a cure-all. Your personal experience is unlikely to be a carbon copy of other peoples.
  9. Human emotions are a broad spectrum. Lots of things going on inside people that they do not even know about. Someone may be constantly at the attention seeking up dates not realising they have a serious underlying problem brewing away and the only way they can reach out is to occasional make silly facebook updates. Obviously there are more than a few melodramatic souls who do milk the attention. Scotland still has a very stoic, Presbyterian, macho culture. You are not meant to show weakness or too much emotion. Some people like this but it leads to people keeping things bottled up. As I said when things are brewing inside, sometimes one of the signs is a bit of attention seeking.
  10. Depression is not one "thing". Its a host of different human experiences. Sometimes it can be largely physical such as Seasonal Affected Disorder where a person is not generating enough serotonin and an intervention of light treatment can go a long way. In other cases it is retained childhood learned behaviors of retreating into oneself in order to protect the child from further emotional damage. As an adult this behavior becomes damaging and limits the ability to deal with situations and get help. In many cases it can be unresolved traumas interfering with the daily life. "Depression" is a catch all term that covers a great deal of mental and emotional problems. But the first step in getting better is acknowledging you have a problem, and a big part of that can be seeing how normal it is to have one. I dont see how you posts encourages this.
