  1. Thanks for sharing so much. Its useful in that perhaps someone reading this thread sees something of what they are going through in this and perhaps takes a step closer to getting help. There should be no more shame in being depressed than breaking an arm. It can hit anyone almost anytime. These days I manage my symptoms very well, but only if I recognize them. They can sneak up and be causing me grief before I realize I am having a bad time. It is likely people on this forum, reading this thread, will be suffering symptoms and not really see it as being much more than moody or a bit down. Comedy moment but when things were at their worst I had what I called the 'Coldplay test'. Back in about 2006, if I got emotional and weepy at a Coldplay song I knew I was suffering a bit of an episode and to take the necessary steps. If on the other hand I wanted to throw things when Coldplay or Athlete were on, I knew I was in good mental health.
  2. I think it is a very debilitating experience for anyone who goes through it. It can be caused by either chemical imbalances or underlying psychological reasons. It is something that is easy to laugh at but like a stone on your back when you have to deal with it. Thank you for speaking up. And before the wise crackers start their shit. I am an ex infantry soldier and have suffered for many years with something called PTSD. The biggest, toughest b*****ds you will ever meet can by crushed by mental health problems. But sharing with others and understanding you are not alone can be a hugely beneficial experience.

  4. Someone claiming to have been one of the online abusers of the weegie on the show has apologised.
  5. Program over egged the pudding and then some. Huge number of people here cycle so the cars expect you. The accident rate is pretty low and so long as you have your wits about you you are fine most of the time. You do get a lot of bike couriers so them and the fashion victims imitating them do tend to ride like gaping arses, but for most people its a load safer than most towns.
  6. Well we have a decent chance of getting out of that one. Should have been much worse.
  7. I have noticed that the likes of Punter, Graham Smith, Langer, Kallis, Hayden, the Waughs provoke a lot more bile from the English than great batsmen who are not SA\ Australian. Never see quite the same thing at Lara, Tendulkar or Jayawardena. Personally I suspect its a bit like Pietersen, they just dont like people who are so open about their self belief.
  8. Punter retires. One of the greats of the era.
  9. Tried silk inner gloves? Also look at motorbike gloves for the outers. Heavy leather is not popular with cyclists but with modern touch shifters its possible.
  10. Or New Zealand to some random Brit settlers, or Australia or America. So why do we need to 'imagine' that Israel is any different to those states?
  11. That would be living in abandoned mines, fighting with dwarves and elves and hoarding gold would it? Still the orcs eternal enemies are the elves. Essentially a bunch of fairies who hang around singing how great everything was back in a the old country. Hmmmmmm..........
  12. England have been humped pillar to post over the past 14 months. Australia are a team on the up, England on the slide.
  13. I am very surprised at the way this panned out. I knew that hedge funds in the city were getting off with their EBTs but just assumed the Rangers legal team were not up to the job. EBTs were deliberately created so very high earners could avoid tax. linkI just never considered that the HMRCs legal team would be less competent than a sports club in the backwaters of Glasgow. .
  14. I have a suspicion that may have been around in the comics or books in the 80s\90s.
  15. What a crock of shitShove your bullshit attitude where the sun dont shine. Lazy fat fucks who have never had a bike between their thighs.
  16. Tire pressure is more important than breadth. Keeping the tires up to max pressure (100-120 psi on road bikes) is quite important on reducing rolling resistance. The downside of Gatorskins is getting them on and off. I stretch mine a bit to make it easier but they are still a PITA.
  17. radiohead Chemical Brothers Aphex Twin Orbital Squarepusher.
  18. When you are able to get yourself into the zone, find the mental place where you are just a cycling machine, you can go very far. Consumed by the journey, hunting down the miles. Oxygen flooding through your lungs, endorphins and dopamine helping reduce the pain. When you have killed a monster long ride and are sitting home with an ice cold lager in the hand and a pizza on the table you feel like the pinnacle of humanity. Its just amazing.
