  1. Hi, does anyone know if Tranent produce a programme for home league games. Thanks.
  2. Final 3 games today. Started off at Viktoria Zizkov at 10.15 in the 3rd tier. Quite a drop for a team that played and beat Rangers back at the turn of the century. They were relegated last season and today played a team called Banik Most-Sous who were promoted from the fourth tier but are finding this level tough. Zizkov have started well and carried on their good form by hammering the visitors 5-0 in front of 1320, plus 30+ visitors. Ticket was 130kr (£4.59) and programme 20kr (70p) Second game at 4pm was at Dolicek, the home of Bohemians Praha 1905, were they played Sloven Liberec. I paid 250kr (£8.80) and 30kr (£1.06) for the programme. A crowd of 4411 including approx 100 visitors seen Liberec score in the 1st and 46th minutes to win 2-0. Both tes finished with 10 men. Firstly Bohemians when their player tackled from behind. The referee gave a yellow but it went to VAR and was overturned (I thought it should have been a red initially!) Then a few minutes later a Sloven player after some lovely skill, taking 3 players out of the game, lost control of the ball and fouled his opponent. The referee gave a straight red. Lastly. A 15 minute walk to the Fortuna Stadion for inform Slavia Praha against SK Dynamo Ceske Budejovice. Slavia have hit seven goals three times this season and six once. So this was a game that promised goals. And it did. Dynamo set up to contain Slavia, and it worked for 18 minutes! Then the home side just ran riot. It was 3-0 at half time, with a further 4 goals in the second. It finished 6-1 in front of 11312. Dynamo scored the best goal but also finished with 10 men as the referee harshly showed a straight red for a late tackle on the byeline. A 35 yard screamer into the top corner. I paid 465kr (£16.40) for a good seat, and programmes were free. All in all a great trip. 7 games, 25 goals and 3 red cards. Some cracking games, great stadiums and superb value for money.
  3. Thanks to the Czechs spreading kick off times throughout the day and weekend. You can go to several games over the course of a weekend, if you wish. On Saturday I managed 3 for the first time (done a fair few double headers in my time, but this was a push. Mainly because of travel) First up in Prague at an early time of 10.15am! was a fourth tier match between FK Aritma Praha and SK Horovice (1-0) A lovely little one tier stand. Ticket on the gate was 50krona (£1.73) worth a free programme. Sausage and bread on a barbecue was 80krona (£2.82) A very competitive match... Which the referee did well to keep a lid on for most of the game. Horovice played the better football (albeit, at a low level) but Aritma were very good defensively. Only one goal which came to the delight of the max 200 in attendance (6 away fans, one with a drum!) For the second match of the day. I got the train from Prague to Usti Nad Labem for their match with Chlumec Nad Cidlinou at 3pm (2-2) in the third tier. Usti were relegated last season and play in a fairly large stadium with a decent support. 512 paid another 50kr (£1.73) to see this local Derby (Chlumec) is a small town just to the north of Usti. No programme available that I could see. But a free team sheet was available. This match started off with both teams trying and succeeding in playing nice one touch football. The match was very open. Both teams having regular shots at goal and a couple of well worked goals as well. Usti went one up before Chlumec then took the lead. Which they held on to until the 89th minute when a free kick from the edge of the box flew into the top corner. Lastly I got a train to nearby Teplice for the much anticipated 7pm kick off with Sparta Prague. Teplice seem to get low crowds in their 19000 capacity ground (less than 3000 turned up for their Derby with Jablonec) but 10555 (3000+ from Sparta) including myself paid 110kr (£3.88) to watch an absolutely fantastic match in a great atmosphere. Teplice in a Brazil style kit took the game to the wine coloured Sparta. And had a couple of chances before Sparta went 1 then 2-0 ahead. A tad unlucky for Teplice. But the home side got one back to go in at HT 1-2. The second half was the same again. And it could have been anything until an 85th minute equaliser from Teplice which would gain them a well deserved draw. Travel in Czechia despite the fairly short distances with slow and irregular. So it was a long but absolutely epic day! Today's triple header will be easier as Zizkov, Bohemians and Slavias grounds are all very close to each other.
  4. Thank **** I'm out the country and can actually go to football!. In the Czech Republic and plan a 6(SIX) Match weekend! Triple headers Saturday and Sunday. Saturday: 10am. Aritma Praha V Horovice 3pm. Usti Nad Labem V Chlumec Nad Cidlinou 7pm. Teplice V Sparta Praha Sunday: 10am. Viktoria Zizkov V Banik Most-Sous 4pm. Bohemians Praha V Slovan Liberec 7pm. Slavia Praha V Ceske Budejovice I'm going to be knackered. Tickets all ridiculously cheap. Head over to the Random matches thread for reviews from tomorrow.
  5. First of a 7 game trip to the Czech Republic. FK Dukla Praha V FK Varnsdorf, in the Czech second tier at Juliska Stadion. Ticket 120Kr (£4.20) programme 20Kr (80p) for 20 glossy pages. Score 1-1 crowd 623. This was a rearranged game as it was called off last week. And so a bonus. Dukla are not the club who played Celtic in 1967, that honour goes to FK Viagem Pribram who play in the same league and moved to Pribram in 1998 after a merger with the original Dukla. This Dukla have been around since 1948 as Dukla Dejvice. This was a decent game. Dukla started off the better, but the final ball was lacking. Varnsdorf (near the German border) fought their way into the match and took the lead after 20 minutes with a right footed shot from the edge of the box. Dukla came back into it with a few wayward shots, and eventually won a penalty after a clumsy challenge. The penalty was skied high and wide. The second half continued to be end to end. And Dukla eventually got there goal with a well placed shot from the edge of the box. Both teams could've won it. But the final ball was lacking. A deserved point for both teams.
  6. Didn't know where to put this, as it's not football. But it's probably the most random match I've been too. Always wanted to see a Handball game. And I got my wish at the start of my trip on Wednesday night. Heading down to Prague I stopped off in Leipzig to see the Bundesliga game between middling mid table team DHfk Leipzig and TWH Kiel who were runners up last season to Magdeburg, but beat them in this season's Super cup. The match started off very close with both teams trading goals, but with Kiel always being ahead and looking the better team overall. Half time came with Kiel 14-13 ahead. The second half started with Kiel coming out and taking control they didn't give Leipzig a chance as they took a significant lead. It took a while for me to get into the nuances of the sport. Like nothing the goalkeeper kept taking a seat when their team was on the attack. They both got caught out a few times as their team lost possession! And it's a bit like ice hockey were players are giving 2 minute sin bin penalties (if the opposition score though the player can't come back on!) Leipzig even acred when two players were in the sin bin, much to the delight of the majority of the 3808 in attendance. The match ended though with a comfortable 32-22 Kiel win. Ticket was 27 Euros, with season magazine/programme 2 Euros. If anyone gets a chance when in Germany. It's a good night out.
  7. A first visit to Links Park, for Montrose V Kelty Hearts. I wasn't expecting a great game as both teams had only scored 3 goals between them before today. But a superb performance from the home side made in an enjoyable day out. Kelty seemed to have hit the buffers a bit and struggled to get any fluency into their play, despite working hard. Goals from Waddell, McAllister and Rennie gave Montrose a well deserved and convincing 3-0 win in front of 626 fans. Just to add. A quite magnificent main stand .
  8. A first visit to Palmerston Park in Scorching Dumfries, for Queen of the South V Airdrieonians. 1-1 draw. 1205 fans. £18 and £4 for programme and team sheet. Queens started the match awfully as Airdrie came at them. The diamonds took a well deserved lead. But Queen's fought back and earned a deserved point.
  9. Manchester United V Brighton & Hove Albion. A well deserved 1-2 win for the Seagull's. 73711 crowd. Ticket £42. Programme and magazine £7 (programme £3.50) Brighton looked bright and exciting. They played very well. Manchester United looked devoid of ideas, far to narrow and very slow in their build up play. To such an extent that I thought this was a very easy game for Brighton. Been to Old Trafford a few times now. What I find interesting is that they are trying to make as much money out of you as possible. They had two sets of the premier League trophy, Fa Cup and European cup outside and were charging fans £5 a pop at a photo! With YOUR OWN CAMERA!
  10. Stoke City V Blackpool today. 2-0 Stoke. 23612 crowd. Ticket was £26, programme £3. First visit to Stoke and a pleasant afternoon and a decent game. Stoke were the much better team and deserved the win. Stoke doesn't look much of a town from what I've seen. But you have to walk along the Trent canal to get from the station to the stadium which was nice. There's also a barge selling the famous Stoke Oakcakes (not like Scottish Oakcakes, more of a pancake!). Enjoyable day out. Have a ticket for Manchester United V Brighton tomorrow.
  11. A first visit to Dumbarton, to see the Son's play Stirling Albion today. Sadly I never got to visit Boghead. A cracking start to the match as Dumbarton came flying out of the traps and took a two goal lead after four minutes. After that Stirling settled down and tried hard to get back into the match. They didn't do much in the first half. But made the Son's keeper work in the second. A red card for a bad elbow on a Dumbaron player put paid to any comeback. Sadly didn't get to visit the Castle as it's closed for maintenance work
  12. Cowdenbeath V Open Goal Broomhill. Lowland league. 3-0 to Broomhill. 464 fans. £10 to get in and £3 for a very good programme. A first visit to Central park since April 1994. In which I seen the home side continue a long record of not winning at home against Queen's Park (1-1) I noticed Cowdenbeath had started the season poorly, after falling out of the league. I was thinking it was mainly to do with it being League cup games. But they looked really poor in this match against an experienced Broomhill side, who simply played them off the park. A well deserved win for Broomhill. A lot of work to do for Cowdenbeath.
  13. First game of 2022-23. And it's a classic between Atletico Madrid V Real Madrid from the Bernabeu in La Liga.. Ok who am I kidding. It's Airdrieonians V FC Edinburgh at New Broomfield. 1-1 after 90 minutes. Had to go though on 90 as I had to catch the last train to Glasgow before heading back east to Edinburgh! Just seen Edinburgh won 4-2 on Penalties. Even first half before Airdrie dominanted most of the second half. Hitting the post with a penalty. Edinburgh looked dangerous on the break.
  14. Thanks for the reply. Appreciated. I'll just have to get train to Airdrie and return Via Glasgow.
  15. Are Edinburgh running a supporters bus to the game on Tuesday against Airdrie? I bought a ticket before realising that the trains from Airdrie back to Edinburgh stop earlier. Thanks Tried Edinburgh's Facebook and email today. But nobody ever seems to reply.
  16. 6. Brentford, Brighton, Southampton, Tottenham, Leicester and West Ham. I have been to all the old stadiums with the exception of Leicester in the past. Think Tottenham will be the hardest as they require expensive memberships for the right to buy a ticket! Despite never selling out.
  17. Great stuff and excellent read. After over a year of no live football, I made a vow to go to as many games as possible during 2021-22. In the end I managed 58 matches across four countries. 38 different grounds of which 22 were first visits. Like yourself I watched games from the Premiership down to East of Scotland Premier and West of Scotland Premier. In England I watched games ranging from EPL down to Isthmain premier. Also managed to get in some games in Europe in Denmark and Sweden. Best games were: Hearts V Dundee United 5-2 B93 V HIF (Danish 3rd tier) 3-3 Alloa V Peterhead 2-4. Worst matches Carshalton V Bowers & Pitsea 0-0 (which was slightly better than.. ) Arsenal V Burnley 0-0 Best atmosphere: Watford V Norwich Malmö V Mjallby Brondby V Kopenhavn. A very enjoyable season. Will continue to groundhop next season, bit probably not as many as 58 games this time. As I would like to go to complete the EPL next season. As well as watch a few Aldershot and Celtic games. Hoping to tick of the Czech Republic in September.
  18. Last game of my trip and I headed over to Fyn and its main City Odense to see OB V Viborg FF in a Superliga bottom 6 clash. Both teams were well matched going into this tie with only a point separating them at the top of the bottom 6. They had drawn 1-1 twice in Viborg this season and the Visitors had won 3-2 in the previous game here. The match had an end of season feel to it but still proved an entertaining contest for the most part. OB started the better and had all the chances, forcing the Viborg keeper into a string of saves. But as is typical of a game like this. It was the visitors who took the lead with a swift counter attack and fine finish. The lead lasted two minutes as the Viborg keeper took out the striker who converted. A fine atmosphere again from the 6786 fans in attendance in a very nice stadium. Not a bad trip for my first European trip in over two years. 7 games, 19 goals, 1 red card and 2 penalties.
  19. Continued with my trip and a sixth game. Tonight was at the Parkenstadion to see FC Køpenhavn V Silkeborg IF. FCK opened the scoring in the 1st minute with a quick attack down the centre and a pass through from Vicker Claessen to Johannesson who made no mistake from six yards. After that, FCK had a lot of the ball bit kept going backwards rather than for the goal! Much to the frustration of the home support who were very nervous with Midtylland breathing down their necks for the Danish title. They were to relax a bit when Johannesson finished a cross from the right on the hour mark. But then Silkeborg came out of their shell and started to play a bit and got a goal back when Tengstedt scored a screamer from 20 or so yards. FCK spent the rest of the game hanging on, but came away with a 2-1 win in front of 22796 fans. Which I thought was poor considering they are going for a title. Another great atmosphere which the 750 Silkeborg supporters contributed too. One game to go..
  20. My busy, but extremely enjoyable week of football continues, with a match at Helsingborg IF in Sweden tonight. They were playing Norrkopping Ik. This was the poorest match so far with both teams having a slow start to the season. Norrkopping having the majority of the play and chances in the first half. The Second Helsingborg tried to take the lead but their decision making was very poor at times. Norrkopping got the winner on 70 minutes when the captain turned and scored in the box In front of the small away support. The atmosphere was good again despite there only being 6500 at the game. Traveled to Helsingborg via Helsingor in Denmark. Where you get the 20 ferry across the Øresund. Then a train back to Kopenhavn.
  21. Kopenhavn Derby Day today at Brondby Stadion. Brondby were so out of form they had gone from genuine title challengers to retain last year's title to now being 6th in the table, after seven straight defeats! Kopenhavn are also in a patching bit of form and can't seem to string two wins together as Midtylland are breathing heavily down there necks! (As I write they are winning 2-1 at Aalborg with 10 minutes left) There was 20 minutes of crowd silence at the start of the game as fans protested about no away fans being allowed for these games. So the electric atmosphere I'd expected was muted at the start as was the match. Brondby looked poor for large parts of the game as FCK dominated and took a deserved lead on 30 minutes. Brondby tried hard to get going but their decision making let them down at times. FCK were comfortable, a little too much really as Brondby fought to the end, the FCK right full back was set packing for two yellows on 87 minutes which gave the crowd a lift and they eventually got a just about deserved equaliser on 92 minute. 1-1, 22405 crowd and tickets were a very reasonable 180KR (About £19/20!)
  22. Is it Herfløge they amalgamated with? How did fans take it? I know that the HB does stand for Herfløge Boldklubben. So I'm surprised the full name doesn't appear to be used.
  23. Double header today in two different countries. in my Scandinavian trip. First up was HB Køge V Esbjerg FB in the Danish 2nd tier, bottom 6. Esbjerg really had to win to give themselves any chance of staying up. And it all started so well as they took a 12 minute lead through a deft flick at the near post. But Køge who are the best of the worst thought back immediately as the centre half bulleted a header in from a corner, before a penalty just before half time from Køge gave them the lead which they never relinquished. Koge are managed by ex Liverpool player Daniel Agger and have ex Rangers player Jin Flanagan in their squad (though he wasn't playing today. Finished 2-1 with 775 attending. Second match was over the other side of the øresund Bridge in Malmö. Who were playing Mjallby AIF in the Allsvenskan. I would have made this game 50 minutes before kick off. But the Øresund train was at the wrong platform and left hundreds of people (including a good number of Malmö supporters!) having to make the next train. Made the match with seconds to spare. THis was a quality match again. Mjallby have been a form side at the start of the season and this was 2nd V 3rd. Mjallby started the better but after about 20 minutes Malmö settled into their game and dominated from then on. It was no surprise when they took the lead after 35 minutes from a downward header at a corner and then scored the second two minutes later. The atmosphere was electronic from both sets of fans (approx 500/600 away) in the crowd of 19812. It finished 2-0 Malmö.
  24. After two years and three months I've finally managed to escape the UK for a proper holiday. I've just arrived into Denmark this weekend for a week of football here and in Sweden. So lots of Random matches from me to enjoy. Tonight I started off in the Danish 3rd tier for a match between Boldklubben 93 (B93) V Hellerup IK (HIK) at the Osterbro Stadion, which is adjacent to the Parkenstadion. A crowd of 609 witnessed an absolutely brilliant match which to and throwed one way then the next and finished 3-3. I paid 78KR (£7.70) Beer and hotdog was 75KR. Programme only available as a PDF download.
