Aren't you still doing fb paintings?

Saw a 'like' but minutes ago from a girl I know in Arbroath , and the style of the pic was 'familiar'.

Plus it was from cunto called Liam

    100% not me.

Haven't done it for years; must be a strange coinsodence... it was fun while I did it, but I stopped shortly after I moved to London. Have thought about starting it again now that I'm back living in Scotland and going to the fitba every week.

    I treasure that picture.

Theres some c**t who trolls the Tully posts on Facebook, Walley Taffey or something whose artwork looks extremely like Liams.

I've even asked him and the connection was denied.

Not me, I'm afraid. Actually, this is the first time I've heard of someone trolling the Tully, could you link me to something? The reason I stopped doing it was down to comparisons to Jim'll Paint It (who's much better than me), but I'd be interested in seeing what else is out there.

Ps. That was a fun one to draw — the more tragic the characters, the more rewarding the painting.

  3. I'm also pretty nervous at how we'll fair this season, but that's probably more a fear of the unknown than anything else. Much of our squad is unproven, and I'm not convinced we've added enough depth to the squad to compete for similar results to last season, but I'm more than happy with most of Hartleys signings, to be honest. If we look at it objectively, we've not done too badly:

Faissal El Bakhtaoui — could be great
Kevin Gomis — could be great
Mark O'Hara — could be great

James Vincent — not convinced he's an improvement on last season, but looks fairly solid
    Michael Duffy — as above

Danny WIlliams — has looked awful the few times I've seen him IMO, really don't like his style of play, but I'm hoping he'll shut my puss and prove me wrong. Was better in the second half against Celtic, but that first half performance was as bad as I've seen in a Dundee shirt.

Yordi Teijsse — not expecting anything from him, this was a total gamble and not a serious contender for 1st team IMO.

Couple those with establish players like Bain, McGowan and O'Dea and we have a decent spine to build on. Still a few players short, but the quality of the league is pretty terrible and I'd hope we'd avoid the relegation cluggfest. Yes, Hearts, Rangers, Celtic and Aberdeen look stronger, but we were never going to compete with them this season, especially after we failed to make the right half of the split last season. We've also still got the likes of Wighton to come into the team and hopefully win a place this season.

Couple that with the fact that Stewart and Hemmings essentially came from nowhere, and I don't think you can be too critical of how we're running our affairs.

As a support, I think we need to get real. We'll be very lucky to scrape the top six this year (I'd be utterly amazed if that happened, in all honesty), but I'd also suspect we've got enough quality throughout the team to stay away from the bottom 2-3. Anywhere between 7th-9th is realistically where we'll end up.

There are enough reasons to be positive. Here are three:

We're not a set of minging, dayglo-clad binrakers. We didn't get relegated by our neighbours. And we certainly don't have to look at Willo Flood's gnarly coupon every week.

    Eh.

Thats not true, we've averaged less than a goal a game and still survived comfortably in this league.

Oh dear. Eh, yes... it is true.

If you don't score a goal, you cannot win a game of football.

It was, thankfully it was McInnes' last season with us.

In a similar vein, I thoroughly hope that this will be your last post in this topic.

Your penchant for posting in every Dundee thread has evolved over the years; moving from an innocent — but nonetheless irritating — 'thing' you did, into a legitimately concerning obsession. Do you realise you post here much more regularly than most actual Dundee fans? Please, please just leave us alone. For your own good.

    Thank you.

  5. I have a good feeling about today. A convincing 2-0 win and an earth-shaking Derry Rumba to start the first home game of the season.

Also, McGowan to lose his shit and sprint full-pelt towards the away fans, through Bains net before dragging the goalposts and Joey Barton into the Shankly with him.

Few bits and pieces from what I picked up from the interviews on DeeTV before and after the Dumbarton match.

Paul McGowan has obviously been given the all clear (Which Hartley was speaking about pre-Dumbarton) so will be in the squad for tonight. Hartley is asked, 'What's the situation with Harkins?' - Hartley starts smiling and says, 'There's nothing we want to comment on just now.' The interviewer then asks, 'Has he left the club?' to which Hartley just says, 'No, no, he's still here'. Not exactly telling us anything new, but I found it strange nonetheless.

Hartley then gives a rundown on the status of all our players that are out injured, basically, things are starting to look good other than the obvious exception which is McPake. Hartley completely forgets about Nicky Low until prompted by the interviewer to which he confirms, 'He's behind schedule'.

Hartley says he'd prefer if we could use 5 or 6 subs in these League Cup group section games so that the players can get the required minutes. He also says that there shouldn't be a transfer window, as 'Teams sometimes need players later on, 'especially in Scotland'.

Post-match - Hartley says he feels we are '1 or 2' players short at the back. I reckon he's wanting another RB in to ease the pressure on Cammy as well.

Moving onto Greg Stewart's post-match interview he states, 'I felt the first half wasn't good enough from myself, felt a wee bit rusty'. 'The boys had a few words at HT as we knew it wasn't good enough'.

Speaking about his free-kick that opened the scoring, 'It was a bit of an in-between (Cross or shot). When I'm in that position I always aim for the back post, so that if all the boys miss it, there's always a chance.' He follows this up by saying, 'Let's be honest though, the keeper should have held it, punched it, but I'll take it.'

Stewart has a slight go at the fans, 'The fans were getting on top of us a wee bit, but I can see why they did, but I would say, just give us time, there's a few new faces, it's still pre-season, we'll get it right and hopefully have another successful season.'

Stewart is asked on what he thinks on the format of the cup, he seems most against the penalty shoot-out point as he says, 'That's a wee bit weird that one.' He seems to be in favour overall though.

That pretty much sums the interviews up. Think the content on DeeTV is excellent these days, much better than it was when it was DFCTV. I'd urge anyone needing that Dundee fix to sign-up, especially if you can't afford a season ticket as you get full replays of pretty much all the matches.

    Good post, Ludo.

  7. Big fan of the new sig, LiamDFC.

    Thanks, mate.

I'm actually moving back to Scotland next month, so I'll be using this forum more regularly again. Have been pretty removed from Scottish football over the last two years so I've hardly posted, but will be looking forward to getting back to see Dundee every week.

  8. We should secretly sign Gavin Gunning on a one-game trialist contract, make him sit on the bench wearing a full Jedi-style robe, then sub him on with 5 minutes to go.

    Thank you.

ETA: In the derby game, obviously. Then we can melt him down and sell him to the glue factory.

  9. The thing about football possession is that their is a vast difference between possession football flaunted by the Barca of 08-11 and possession football by Dundee. Notably that Barca and teams of that ilk play to get behind, whereas we play for playing sake. Their isn't an edge or desire to get past a man, or to get the ball in to a dangerous position.

I found myself being extremely frustrated on Saturday (and not just because I'd be pulled away from the drink in Hospo). It's been the only consistent for the majority of our season so far that we are all too happy to play in front of teams without an emphasis on making a goal scoring chance.

I'm all for the 80s Liverpool rhetoric of waiting for the opposition to switch off or make a mistake, but even that requires you taking the shot at a through ball thats slim when it appears they may not be at the races.

This is Dundee's real issue. You need to keep the fans onside, and to do that you must take risks. Thats what good football is about, being willing to take the risk on of going on a run with the ball, trying a bit of skill, playing what many would see as an audacious piece of skill on a through ball, or even a shot that is from outside the 18 yard box.

Watching us is like watching a team where the manager has read the stats that passes over 18 yards are more like to fail than those under that, and that you score 75% of your goals from in the box, so you only attempt shorter passes and to score from in the box, thus nullifing the longer pass and losing out of goals from outside of the box. We need the creativity of Harkins and the audacity of Stewart together with a poacher and a target man to all play together. Unfortunately we don't seem able to find the "right" formation/XI and stick to it.

Pretty much nailed it on the head. The only things I'd add are that Dundee United are shite and RandomGuy is, indeed, boring.

    Thank you.

  10. Hartley loves the free Puma gear.

    Some boy, Biggie.

I've just driven up for the second home game in a row, 1400~ miles covered so far (still got the 2nd return journey to go) in a few weeks to see the Dee. All I ask is that Paul Hartley embraces his entrepreneurial spirit and encourages the use of Gary Locke's tired, elasticated puss in his 'resistance' training regime.

    Eh.

  11. Picture it - you're a policeman coming to the last hour of the hellish nightshift. One last call before clocking out. Reports of a domestic on the other side of Airdrie. The headlights illuminate the empty streets as your meatwagon snakes through the housing schemes. Your sat nav takes you to a grubby Airdrie block of flats. You don't like this part of town. You never have. The graffiti-covered closey door is open. You carefully tread between the broken bottles and syringes, like playing schemey twister. You tip-toe up the concrete steps as quietly as your boots will allow. The walkie-talkie's beeping reverberating around this concrete chamber. Your head turns as you reach the top floor. No.18 reveals itself to your left, the muffled sound of shouting can be heard through the walls.

You open the door and find yourself on the landing. A solitary lightbulb swings from the roof, accompanied only by a moth. The floor creaks with each step. The shouting grows louder. You turn the handle on the livingroom door, one step, two steps inside... The shouting stops.

BOOF! You are booted in the bollocks by Paul McGowan.

That, ladies and gents. Is why he is our best player.

F**k sake, you just beat me to it.
