Auchinleck Talbot v Cove Rangers, Scottish cup
AlbionMan replied to Talbot supporter's topic in Domestic Cup Football
Talbot decided along with most of their west junior friends to stay where they were, so it doesn't exist. -
League 2 - player wages
AlbionMan replied to CoveRangers1922's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
If anyone was interested should he be asking Cove's stewards for an insight into the club's wage structure, or does Cove keep, stewards out of the loop on players' wages? it's more likely that when overhead they were discussing their own remuneration for a Saturday afternoon. -
A truly dire game of football which would not have been out of place on a public park. We have on of the best playing surfaces in Scotland but both teams were intent on giving the opposing defenders heading practice. First half Stenny were on top but our goalkeeper had an easy day apart from the goal, second half we only started to play just before 4.30 and might have taken the 3 points if we'd started at 3.00. As for the officials they were on a level with the standard of play. Talk about giving a primary school teacher a whistle! He was a walking example if the wee man syndrome.

Scottish Cup Round 2
AlbionMan replied to CoveRangers1922's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
When it's the Scottish Cup, our gun is permanently loaded and pointed at our foot with the trigger cocked. -
No goals, no football and no entertainment
-
Two long runs coming to an end today then.
-
Those juniorvclubs which chose not to join the pyramid but remain within their own league set ups and national association have no cause to be invited into the SPFL's challenge cup.
-
If we were running a development squad or reserve team
-
The pitch has been relaid, hope it's ready in time. Our friendlies are all away games and 5 games at Forthbank in the first 15 days of the season isn't ideal.
-
I see SPFL web page has renamed last season's cup with this season's sponsor.
-
That raises my hopes for 8 boys' teams going out to LL and HL sides. Come on the 5th tier.

Good luck with Stewart, he was permanently injured from end of August and didn't look great before then. If you've got him on a pay by game contract not a weekly wage he must just do. Don't expect him to be fit for playing on plastic too often, we signed him on inflated wages and got hee haw for the money. Lee had his injury problems last season but if he stays fit he'll do a good job for you. Of the three Lee Hamilton is the only one I'm sorry has left us.

We'll need to stop making it easy for the visitors at Forthbank. Making it easy for visitors will be one of the reasons macclyde thinks it's a cracking away day.
-
Aye, he'll entertain us next year much like the soon to depart Clyde support have done over the past ten.
-
And when that's added to Clyde's contributions!

Dundee United 2018/2019
AlbionMan replied to MeadowArab's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Small consolation for either of you, except for the four derbies to look forward to. -
Scotland hasn't qualified for a major tournament since the creation of the greed is good SPL in 1998, coincidence or is still the fault of lower division Luddites?.

Annan v Clyde/ Clyde v Annan
AlbionMan replied to marco44's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Do Clyde not have a burger cart for catering at Broadwood? -
That need not be necessary, have 2 x 12 team leagues and the remaining 18 teams in division 3 (or div 1 if you prefer) 34 game season plus cup ties and play offs.

The following quote from the Herald article tells you all you need to know... The idea [Colts Teams in the SPFL] is unlikely to ever gain the required support within Hampden, however, and there seems little chance of the Old Firm being involved in the Reserve League in the long term. At the last SPFL Competitions Working Group the outstanding action point on this topic was closed and marked “No further action”. Above from the Albion's Rave On forum

Cowdenbeath well worth their win today, although this was a match for which meaningless end of season fare and mid table mediocrity was coined, and it lived down to both descriptions. I suspect Cowden will be happier with the result than the performance. Bring on the close. season when supporters of all clubs can dream of success to come before cold reality sets in again.

I think you just want them out of your league for being a bunch of arrogant p***ks with an inflated sense of entitlement.

It gets one of our highest earners off the wage bill and it will be less than paying him for another 15 months without a contribution on the park. Money well spent.
