I'll preface this by saying that I know it won't happen in any way, shape or form, but if it was me with any say in it, he should be punted should we lose on Saturday. Because if we do lose, I think that's us.

I think NXT gets a lot of credit that it wouldn't necessarily get if it was a show that had to book week-to-week. The way it is now, they can run two tapings and get a few months of TV out of it, all booking towards one of 5 shows a year. I don't doubt that if they, say, doubled that, the quality would reduce. That said, would be nice to give it a try.

Yeah, that's probably the closest, but I'd still say the deathmatches have far more context in what they're trying to do. As you said earlier, there just isn't any context for what happened there, outside of the gross-out, humiliation of your opponent thing. There's better ways to do that. But hey, people are talking about them that weren't before. Job done for them I'd imagine.

Pack weight has definitely gone through the floor. Opened a couple last night and they were some of the worst I've seen. Understandable really - you're going to have people going absolutely mental with them over the next week, and by adjusting it down slightly they can probably get the "just one more" attitudes firing. Has the player pool not widened significantly this time around? Last year obviously you needed to win a DKT, which was stressful enough in itself, whereas now anyone who plays enough games gets in. I was certainly surprised at how shit some of the teams were. Anyway, I played on a wee bit after getting Silver 1. Lost 1 and won 1, told myself that if I won the next one I'd push for Gold 3. Chesney decided - through no fault of my own of course - to pass straight to their forward in the 92nd minute to give them a 4-3 win. Balls. Still, it let me put the WL down with 4 still to go. Earned enough to enter again next week, but expect I'll leave it a couple. Don't know how people got through 40 games last year...f**k sake. EDIT: And on the player picks for WL rewards - are they not based on the next TOTW that comes out on Wednesday? Given the rewards are Thursday. Or is that projected to be shit as well? EDIT2: I just saw someone predict it on reddit, and jeeeezo that's poor. Only one in the entire squad I'd be happy getting would be a potential 2IF Ryan Fraser. Even if he is playing in the same position as 2IF Forrest.

Absolute dogshite in the WL Fri and Sat but seem. To have turned a corner. Went 4-1 in the qualifying games, which of course meant I got absolutely pummeled afterwards. 10 fucking defeats in a row before I turned it around last night. Picked up 4 wins to bring me to 8-11 going into today. Just won 2 in a row, so with 9 to go I just need one win.. One fucking win. I can't wait to see how I f**k this up.

Yeah, hard to argue with that. There's a very fine line between "I know best, and here's why" and just plain "I know best". If he punts Erskine and goes out and picks up a player with legs who can do better than what Erskine could have, then the arrogance is fine. But if he just brings in meh options, Erskine goes on to star elsewhere (which is perfectly possible) and/or we go down, then it's not a good look at all. I'd like to think that when Caldwell comes to the board and says that he wants to do something like this, someone - anyone - would step in and say "Gary, that's fucking stupid". But I get the feeling it's just adoring looks from all, as the Bold Captain of the Ship outlines his Excel plans.

While I see your point, he was player of the year because the squad, to a man, was fucking shite. And he was the one that came out and said that no-one deserved it, thus cementing his own win. It's not much better this season. But aside from that, if we're looking at this in anything other than a purely footballing decision, then it's not going to be a popular move. The board and management team are already on shaky ground with the fans, and if they punt Erskine and then do little to replace him with any kind of quality, then they're genuinely mental in my eyes. It's like they want everyone to hate them.

This. Much as Erskine is very important to us, he's seemed like he's lost several yards of pace this season. He can still conjure something out of nothing, but I'm not sure we can afford that kind of luxury at the moment. Not when we're being treated to the Waitrose Reduced Section of Luxury in Miles Storey.

True. And if he harbours ambitions of playing for Scotland, he's certainly got more chance nowadays by playing at Hibs than getting shunted across Portugal. All depends on him, he may be happy living the life in Portugal, realising that maybe he isn't quite as good as he was originally hyped up to be. Could be happy to live a bit more of his young life out there before eventually coming home.

Which is EA's plan. It's odd though. Despite EA's main goal being to shepherd everyone towards spending FIFA points, it's kind of odd that they wouldn't provide something like this. Go try and build a team of rare gold players with a rating in the low 80s. You can probably do it for about 6k. Go try and do it with rare bronze or silver players, and the same could cost you up to 50k. Bronze and silver players are now massively overpriced thanks to SBCs, so add people actually wanting to use them for teams to win a tournament, and you're going to need more coins. How do you get more coins? You either grind the game, or you buy FIFA points. And given that no matter where you go in the game, FIFA points could make it easier, it always baffles me that they wouldn't dedicate just a little time to bringing something like this back.

I punted Costa last night to feed my dreams of my now dead Scottish team. His pace is electric, and with that he's always going to be useful, but I found him absolutely dreadful at doing anything once he got there. Probably over-egging it a bit, as he did get a few goals, but so many times he'd fluff his lines after getting in good positions. Still though, you've got a very solid front-four there

Yeah, I'd have thought a suspension would have been a sensible option. I'm not sure whether he was ever charged with anything, or just arrested. Maybe was just the latter, in which case fair enough, but with just a few weeks to run on the contract, I don't see what benefit we got from putting him out there on the bench, particularly to warm up going past the Morton fans.
