  1. I hope he did. It would have been a brief conversation.... "Yes, sir, I do know who you are and you should have known better. The rules DO apply to you. Now go away and get some appropriate ID." Oh, to have heard something like that!
  2. Wouldn't it have been a brilliant post to hold on election day... being the polling clerk who got to tell the guy who was PM when the voter ID law was passed to eff off because he didn't have the right ID required by his own law. That bloke or woman should get free drinks for life.
  3. Or... Parties who between them have a majority in a Parliament based proportional representation are getting on with delivering common objectives. I think it will be fair enough to make comparisons between Holyrood and Westminster party politics when the latter has to operate under a system of PR designed to make it almost impossible for one party to win an overall majority of seats. Up here some nutters seem to think that a minority government is some kind of aberration, too ignorant or too blinkered to see that the system was designed to force parties to work together. Only one party has so far managed to win a majority of seats, and it's not a unionist one. At least in Holyrood the new First Minister is appointed following a vote of the MSPs. At Westminster the leader of the biggest party is invited by a bloke in a funny hat to form a government.
  4. That would depend on what he intended to do with the meat cleaver.
  5. Ah yes, "Scottish" Labour... allies of the poor and downtrodden (as long as what they say chimes with Labour "dahn saaf" in Sir Keir's desperation to placate the nervous right-wing electorate there.) Of course, the Scottish media will go for Labour all guns blazing over their vote. Of course they will. Sycophantic bunch.
  6. Is this is going to be one of those weird days for news? Next to nothing political on the TV or radio because of the elections in England?
  7. For those who believed that the First Minister was politically naive in his handling of the Bute House agreement, I present Ash Regan, the "nationalist" who voted to oust a nationalist government. Tens of thousands of potential "2nd vote Alba" voters may have switched back to "2nd vote Green". Well done, Ash.
  8. Better watch out saying things like that. That's the problem with religions chock full of sects. Reading what you said, some Christians might get so annoyed that they drop their snake and have to start their dance again. Edit... Jeezo, my edit function on my phone is doing my head in... I'll leave it to end with "drop their snake". Edit edit... Well, no. Just seen a video... Some do dance with them. As you were.
  9. I was wondering why folk could vote for someone who paraded their ignorance of things like NATO and Gaza, then I remembered the Brexit result.
  10. The SNP leadership situation has brought an issue forward that has annoyed me for a while and needs settled once and for all. I saw Sarwar at it last night and he kept on about it even when his blatant hypocrisy was pointed out to him. I am done with political chancers demanding an election when a government party leader changes - when the person making the demand is in opposition. Therefore, in my view whan a government party leader changes, a politician can ONLY demand an election if in advance of standing in an election, they themselves have signed a statement swearing to make such a demand if their OWN party leader changes. Otherwise, they can just GTF. At least in Scotland the whole parliament gets a vote on who becomes FM. Not in the motherfekker of Parliaments, though, no no.
  11. When's Jacob Rees-Mogg going to be on TV or radio to tell us how well it's all going? Cheaper food just round the corner, is it?
  12. Thanks for that. I tried it. The link takes you to a page about changing notes at participating branches and gives a link for you to find one. You put your postcode in and it takes you to a branch finder page, where you put in your postcode. You put in your postcode and the nearest branch is given. Hurrah. You go to that branch only to be told that no, that don't do it there. You tell them that the website says they do, or at least gives no indication that they don't, but no... So I went to a branch of the RBS which was further away and was able to deposit all the notes into my account. No wonder the Post Office gets bad press. If they can't even get accurate information about services on their website they deserve all the keech they get.
  13. Hi folks. Our lad has paid us for some event tickets but still had paper banknotes. We took them because we knew they could be traded in for the newer plastic ones. Trouble is, they are from 4 different banks - BoS, RBS, Clydesdale and even one BoE. Anyone know if they can all be traded in at one bank or if we have to visit 3 or 4? I've has a quick look online but no clear answer jumped out at me. Thanks.
  14. Our win was far more nervy than it ought to have been. May I now say, on behalf of all neutrals everywhere , come on Dundee! A cheeky wee 2-0 win might just justify a small libation. More likely that Celtic will thump them.
  15. Anyone know if Edinburgh's Cameron Toll Roundabout is open yet? Cheers.
  16. If these fekkers come across here, it'll be time to reintroduce dog licences. There will be some tattooed eejit shouting "he'll no touch ye son, he's just playing..."
  17. I don't know about dragons, but according to some conspiracy theorists, some female members of the Royal family are mothers of lizards.
  18. Reminds me of Muttley who wouldn't do anything to help Dick Dastardly unless he got a medal first.
  19. And a fair bit of support for the armaments industry "willy-waving" thrown in.
  20. Theses Brechin fans. Shouldn't be allowed out.
  21. Nothing to see here, move along now... https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/violent-clash-breaks-out-far-right-groups-descend-on-london-st-georges-day/ "The Met Police said they had deployed extra officers as “far right groups and groups linked to football clubs” travelled from around the UK to mark St George’s Day near Whitehall. Scotland Yard said a group, some wearing masks and others draped in the St George's flag, gathered at Richmond Terrace. - the designated area for the St George’s Day celebration. But more people turned up who tried to make their way up Whitehall towards Trafalgar Square. They tried to force their way through police who pushed back, using horses to control the crowd."
  22. A relative of ours had one of these policies and they had been worrying about it for a few years as the fees kept going up and the availability seemed to reduce. The company was getting such bad press that they introduced a means of folk leaving. If they paid 2 years of management fees in advance they could terminate the agreement. They're so glad the did it as they left about 2 years before COVID. The idea of having to carry on paying fees for holidays while being unable to leave the house would have been soul destroying. There was a website where folk used to complain and someone suggested that those affected should change their wills and leave their membership to the CEO of the company. Not sure what happens if the designated recipient turn down an "inheritance" even if the inheritance carries financial liabilities though.
  23. Cheers. Your considered views will sustain me though the troubling days ahead. For what it's worth, until our second goal went in, we were in trouble. If you had equalised I reckon you'd have gone on to win. Maybe next time. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Celtic will indeed, destroy us. Our defence has been honking for weeks.
