  1. I'm happy to admit I'm miles off playing at this level but I think I could be doing better than this Falkirk goalie.
  2. Neil Scally confirmed as well, so his usual double act has been assembled which is another positive. Tough one for Chris Miller but that's the way football is unfortunately.
  3. I'm delighted with that. I genuinely think that it's the best appointment we could possibly make. For all the stick the board take they've absolutely nailed a candidate that ticks nearly every box. It is very important he is now given time to clean up a considerable mess. It won't be a quick fix, will probably take until January at least. However, I also think that such an appointment will be given a bit of patience that others would not.
  4. Rice left Alloa to go to Livingston in some coaching capacity.
  5. In fairness, actual journalists do exactly that. For what it's worth, I must have the same (undefined) source as Wee man the jackass. Fingers crossed.
  6. The team selection was probably right given the absentees and we were the better side. Some decent performances from Forbes, Scullion, King and my MotM Grant. A stunning goal from Young. Only two points from the two games against Forfar is poor given how they've gone. I feel for Gunn, plenty of others who you would expect to be to blame when we inevitably concede late. Just a poor touch in a poor area of the pitch, punished with a deflected (obviously) shot. We just need to scrape as many points as we can in the next few weeks and hope January is a miracle. I'd be amazed if Forfar were out of sight by then so we should still be in touch with a couple of teams.
  7. We are a hilarious team. Even a stroll in the park, like that first half has been, doesn't manage to yield a lead. Forbes has had a good game. He actually protects the ball with his back to goal.
  8. Have we again said something we didn't need to say, or is there news coming today? Or are we planning on announcing it at the mid-October open meeting?
  9. This has been the most one-sided game I've seen in ages; and Juventus are somehow winning it. I'd not fancy watching them every week.
  10. I happy to take the risk with bringing in 25 new players.
  11. Expecting Dunachie to be our playmaker hasn't gone to plan. Another team who have done absolutely nothing to score two goals.
  12. As long as it's not the actual Scott Brown, who is safely stored away at Raith Rovers...
  13. And play them at full back. See Ewan McNeil and Nick McAllister as examples.
  14. I actually thought Leslie was poor in the main, his touch with his back to goal is abysmal, perhaps as he's used to receiving with his back to the touchline. He doesn't look used to playing centrally but it's that old problem: A wide player who can maybe do a lot more out wide, with little end product because crosses are always a bit of a lottery. Or a 10 who maybe only produces one moment, but it's a much bigger opportunity because he's central. That said, can't argue with two assists and a goal, even if Young should really get the assist for Rennie's. Definitely a player I'd rather we have, than one of our peers.
  15. I thought we were fine last night, given that we were under massive pressure. The first half wasn't pretty but they basically killed themselves trying to get a goal. Apart from the usual Clyde pessimism, I didn't ever think we were in danger of losing in the second half/extra time. The second half they offered nothing apart from one big punt, resulting from an error by Lyon and compounded by a consistently underwhelming goalkeeper. Scullion, Carswell and latterly Hynes gave us a much better grip of things in possession and we started playing to the front 3's strengths. All three goals involved a wee bit of linkup play. Young in particular was a totally different player in the final hour, compared to the first. Whyte is a cracking player at our level but there's no reason for him to be playing in midfield if Hynes, Scullion, King, Grant and Cuddihy are available. He'd be my first centre half on the team sheet. After a few decent games at left back, Lyon was dreadful last night. The longer range distribution from him, Grant and Dunachie was awful. I'd bring Cuddihy back there when fit. I'd also be looking for a better goalkeeper for January as a priority. It was interesting to see the friend of the club taking an active role in the dugout. I think his involvement in the club can only be a good thing.
  16. Night game under the lights, big crowd, on television. We are absolutely ripe for a shock but these kind of games are brilliant. Had a wee buzz of excitement all day.
  17. The three teams directly above Musselburgh in the league winning through today hasn't exactly filled me with confidence. Particularly with two knocking out L2 sides.
  18. Not a particularly great first half for L2 sides in all honesty.
  19. Wait until they bring Rob Jones on, then they'll be Draper and 9 kids.
  20. I'm amazed the lazy chancer can be bothered driving that far. He must be car sharing.
  21. It all goes back to the tonedeaf decision to further alienate our support by retaining Duffy at a time when a break was naturally possible. Good luck to McLean, but it wasn't ever going to work out. Wanted us to be a fit team and was presented with Ross Forbes. Then there was that crazy situation with Duffy lurking in the dugout. Hopefully there's a realisation that any new appointment will have a limited impact until January, then possibly even until next summer. The current squad is maybe better than results, but also extremely limited in multiple positions. Personally, I just want someone who has a way of playing and will stick with it and sign players to suit it. I think that plenty of managers will jump at the chance to have a budget and a target really to build for next season. It's an entirely different situation to when we binned Lennon. Names; Alan Maybury spoke well, got Edinburgh promoted and kept them up before their money vanished this season. He's probably earned another job. Is this the level Jim McIntyre is destined for after a harsh sacking at Cove? Has Kevin Thomson realised he's not getting the full-time gig he thinks he's due?
  22. There's no doubt plenty of elements of the manager's role that go unseen by matchday going fans but you'd struggle to find any positives about McLean from what we do see. L2 is entirely different from L1 which is full of full-time or well funded teams. You should be able to luck into results at this level just by turning up. The team selection worked first half. No doubt he's as furious as anyone with conceding straight after the break but we didn't respond well at all, even if Bonnyrigg weren't particularly threatening. Neither centre half looked at all clever at the winner, which begs the question as to why he paired them up; their limitations directly clash. I've also no idea why our biggest threat middle-to-front ended up at left back, especially chasing the game. 9 conceded in three games playing with a squad of 20+ players available. Not sure how he can be given more time. As always, there seems no obvious replacement unfortunately.
  23. Comfortably the better side, probably the first time we've ever gained an advantage playing downhill and with the wind at our backs. A simple 442 working wonders. Only slight concern is down our left side, which is where the goal came from.
  24. Clyde say game on, no inspection planned. Surprised in all honesty. Hopefully we are packing the team with physical players ready for a battle on a heavy pitch. Probably sets us up well for next Monday as well.
