  1. It should also be borne in mind that Hurlford were promoted to the Premier League before the current main backer was installed, and they did so with the bulk of a squad which had to rely on a last match win to preserve their Super First status against Scottish champions Shotts the year before. They had been in the Super First for 4 or 5 years before that. They do not bad crowd-wise considering the issues they've had with the pitch and the fact they're only a mile from Kilmarnock.
  2. Who exactly is on the pyramid working group?
  3. The thing is, the pyramid as it is is nowhere near perfect, but in the event of a WOS league being created and every non league club in the country being part of the same system, it would only take several years for things to even themselves out. For a grade that has been in existence well over a century, it's not really that long to iron everything out.
  4. Are clubs talking to each other about everything that is happening?
  5. Which is strange as earlier in the season Saltcoats couldn't field a team in the Scottish Cup for genuine reasons (apparently) and were thrown out.
  6. Spend long enough on the junior forum and like me, you'll learn to automatically filter out the headbangers. Don't let the idiots ruin it for you - there are plenty of decent posters about and we could always do with some more!
  7. Couple of things missed out - the slippery Chris Graham, who lasted only days as a Rangers director until he posted a racist image of the Prophet Mohammed giving hand relief to Jar Jar Binks. And how could we have forgotten Ranger's impressive scouting department, which consisted solely of Wee Stevie the IT guy, his laptop and the latest version of Championship Manager?
  8. I'm wondering in future, if a club does a Rangers (most likely Rangers tbh) and has to reform as a new club, would they have to start at the SOS or EOS league rather than in SPFL2?
  9. It's the same as changing lanes on the motorway. When Easthouses left, the future of the EOS league didn't look great, now things are changing so they've reapplied. Nothing wrong with that.
  10. Hurlford have hosted Irvine Meadow, Talbot and Pollok comfortably in Scottish semis in the last 4 years. The Meadow crowd was easily 4 figures.
  11. It would be interesting to see how often any of the floodlight-owning clubs have requested to play a match under them in the last couple of seasons. The only one I know about was Ardrossan (v Ardeer??) last season.
  12. For any historians - why were all non league clubs in the East not in the juniors together? What was the reason behind two grades of football occupying the same geographical area?
  13. In that scenario it would be interesting to see if any of the present top division Ayrshire sides would break ranks and go for it. You could quite easily end up with a situation like you have in the East, where it looks likely that some of the historically bigger clubs such as Linlithgow might eventually have to join at the bottom, while clubs from lower divisions can now enter at the top.
  14. Is it? Maybe it is and maybe it isn't. Who really cares what is bigger? I don't think 90% of football fans in this country could tell you who won either last year.
  15. I think it's a great idea for a lot of clubs but I can fully understand why Talbot (for example) have said they don't fancy it. I'd be more than happy for Kilwinning to be one of the main pushers for a WOS league and I think in a town of 20k+ there is a lot of potential. The same goes for a few other clubs, for example Irvine Meadow (in a town of 40k+) could do well out of it. But these two clubs aren't traditionally the most successful in Ayrshire so it's not as if they are swapping success year in year out for a shot at promotion.
  16. No, the argument is about what is good for certain clubs and what isn't. What Arbroath fans like isn't necessarily what Talbot fans like. You like where Arbroath are because it's all you've ever known. But going between League 1 & 2, playing in a national league and the occasional foray into rounds 4 or 5 of the Scottish Cup might suit you, but it doesn't sound attractive to a lot of others. You don't seem to be able to understand this. Different people have different tastes - and that's actually ok. You seem to look upon those who don't share your views with ridicule. And if you don't then that's how it looks.
  17. It doesn't really. Talbot at best could be a SPFL 1 or 2 side. They simply don't have the population base to get higher than this. I'm not really seeing where these bigger trophies are. When was the last time one of the current SPFL 1 or 2 sides won one of the major competitions?
  18. All very cloak and dagger stuff so far. Hopefully the Buffs make the move first. All it will take is 2 or 3 of the existing West Premier clubs to do it and the whole dam will burst. The East will be decimated after this season if Bonnyrigg and/or Bo'ness go. I'd be surprised if Troon aren't one of the clubs looking seriously at moving. They have a good setup which is always improving, an expanding youth section and great transport links.
  19. Not really. Some of the West clubs have been in existence for over a century. Another couple of years facing the same big junior sides isn't making much of a difference in the long term.
