  1. The feeling I got the last few weeks from Celtic fans and some pundits following their victory at Ibrox was they were almost expecting this Rangers squad to conveniently fall into the form and capitulation that became regular and inevitable under Pedro and Murty against Rodgers.

Im not sure if that attitude sneaked into their sqaud yesterday and they thought that just turning up would see them through in to the final .
I know plenty of Rangers fans who thought that.
  2. I'm not convinced the results were the only reason for the manager's departure, as the club statement says. And if the decision has been made in part due to Strain fielding himself on Saturday then it's either been an instinctive decision or a golden opportunity to do something that the board have wanted to do for a while. Strain has had youth players on the bench before so it's not as if he's averse to giving them the opportunity. It's not too long ago that Tommy Sloan was featuring for Talbot in end of season fixtures and nobody seemed to bat an eyelid. Although it helps if you've won multiple trophies I suppose.

Some of the results and performances have been great, and others have been disappointing, but you could say the same about most of the other teams around us this season. I don't think it's been a bad season, cup competitions aside, and I was quite optimistic about the future under Strain.

  3. Hilarious considering DL used to slate other (and far less financed) teams pitches, and I’m sure the chairman criticized brechins park at half time on bbc Scotland. I’m sure he also talked about who they who and where they were going to be playing in the next round in the same interview (despite them only being 1 up at the time).

They really are a bunch of fuds.
When did he slag off other team's pitches?
  4. Just a pity the website can't do similar and have all the fixtures or results on one page.
Or all of a club's fixtures and results on one page instead of going through pages then scrolling up and down then back the way in case you missed something.
If you go to the fixtures page and press/click on any team it will take you to their page which has all their upcoming fixtures and previous results on one page. Is that what you mean?
  5. There is a level of expectation but we are where we are. It'll take another push and money to get to the level that Talbot, Darvel and Pollok are hitting this season. We'll get there I have no doubt as the club are ambitious, just going to need to be patient for another season or two. Plenty of players have enquired about joining the Buffs for next season, such is the draw of the facilities now. It's frustrating beating Clydebank, Darvel, Pollok and Talbot at home and then losing to some of the lesser lights. The club is heading in the right direction though, a top 5/6 finish is reasonable this season, we will get there eventually.
Are the facilities a big draw for this level? I can understand players being put off by the changing rooms at Abbey Park but I would have thought clubs at this level were much of a muchness when it comes to facilities?
  6. The pathway is something to look forward to, especially with the 19s in the Scottish cup final which hopefully signals some decent players coming through.

While it's great that the ground has had the work done I'm wary of the investment being diverted too much from the playing staff for much longer if some of the West sides start getting promoted into the LL. It'll become increasingly difficult to attract decent players with experience if there are a handful of other West teams playing at a higher level scouting for the same type of player.

I still think Talbot will win the league and get promoted which would mean next year's WOS league would be a cracker. It'd be good to be in the mix for that.

  7. Just back from a week in Antalya, Turkey.
First visit to Turkey and will definitely go back.
People around the hotel cannot do enough for you, and are so friendly.
Mixed bag of weather, overcast and a little chilly for the first couple of days then not a cloud for a few days and 20/21 degrees which was fairly decent for lying by the pool for a couple of hours.
Hotel was full, and there were hundreds of Iranians in the hotel as it was Iranian New Year (some of these people were really nice, but a lot were not).
Great holiday, and so good to get away.
P.S. No covid certificates/passes or negative PCR tests (or passenger locator forms) were asked for or checked at any point of our trip. Very weird.
What hotel did you stay at?

We go to Antalya in June - never been to Turkey before but the hotels look great. Fully expecting not a lot of British people to be there.
  8. According to the official version on here it was something about the SFA only being able to deal with one league.
No mention on here of any legal action at the time.
Don't suppose the well known regulars on here would like to explain this?
As far as I was aware the intention was that we would have a number of conferences at the same level who would then play a season to determine who would form the premier division the following year. The SFA apparently stepped in and said there needs to be a premier league from season 1. I hadn't heard anything about legal action from Darvel. Happy to stand corrected though.

  9. This strikes me as the usual issue that Talbot have a fixture backlog pretty much every season and not one f**k is given by fans of other clubs but on the rare occasion it happen to their club its the most important issue in the world

Fucks are very much given by fans of other clubs as we are often the ones waiting for weeks on end between games in order to finish the season.
  10. If I was Avci I'd be fuming.
Just seen John Gall on Facebook moaning about the amount of games they have to play and having to play Monday night games when other teams haven't [emoji1787]
Mibbe if you hadn't made a cnut of your pitch at the start of the season you wouldn't have all these games to play ....

I don't think you can blame Darvel for the pitch. They paid for a new surface and part of it wasn't up the required standard. Not a lot they could do about it when it became apparent.
  11. You never know how clubs are going to go when the fixtures pile up. I can think of 3 games we lost that we should have (obviously i mean we got beat, but had we played the way we should have) won and a couple draws that we should have picked points up from too. Obviously every club has those reflections on a season. But yes had we been maybe 9 points further on than we are I would have been feeling pretty good. All in though its been a pretty positive season for us, so cant complain too much.

Same at Kilwinning, the big disappointment has been the early exits from the cup competitions, but the league has been reasonably successful considering the young squad and a lot of key players departing midway through the season. Not to mention the ground upgrades.
  12. I didn't actually think Darvel could do it until last night - I thought they had far too many games to make up but they are steadily moving up the table. They have some winnable fixtures coming up but it looks like it'll be between Darvel and Talbot at the end. Pollok and Clydebank will be kicking themselves after the last few weeks.

  13. Dont see why the sjc cant be moved to mid week, afterall, the clubs in the South Challenge cup all left the junior leagues, surely its better to have the actual southern non league cup that weekend?
They've had SJC matches on a couple of weekends now, which is a bit mad when trying to complete a 38 game season plus the other assorted mandatory WOS cup matches.

Next season might have been a bit easier to fit it all in, regardless of how relevant non participating clubs feel about it.
  14. The British involvement with Ukraine prior to and during this war is confusing, and at odds with the behaviour of the politicians in government.

On one hand, it's clear that BJ and co are knees deep in Russian money and appear to be heavily compromised, but on the other, Britain's armed forces have been training and supplying the Ukrainian military for several years. Like a lot of things here, it just doesn't add up.
