Assuming Dundee do the decent thing and the proposal fails quickly, I wonder whether the SPFL would agree to a loan to Rangers.
Would the money for the loan have to come out of the prize pot? I understood that's all the SPFL have in the bank - they don't carry any substantial capital.
Who would decide whether Rangers are eligible for the loan? Would all 42 clubs have to vote on it?
I assume the loan wouldn't be for any more than Rangers would receive for finishing 2nd or 3rd, roughly a million. Will that be enough when the accounts and King confirm at least £10M is needed?
I'm just not sure what Rangers' short-term game is.
I can see Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen & co (and even United) saying, 'Aye, on you go. I don't think we'll be needing Forrest, Christie, Jack, McKenna or Shankland this year.
Rangers are due a final payment of somewhere around a million.
I agree that the clubs would need to share the pain but that pain comes from the proposal to possibly overpay now and recover next season.
What if a club is overpaid this season but goes bust anyway and is replaced by another club for next season? You can't penalise the new replacement club so the SPFL might be short by a few million.
If the season is voided, will the TV companies and other sponsors want some of their money back? The EPL say that BT and Premier Sports are being less accommodating than Sky and even then, Sky may be looking for money back for cancelled matches.
If this happens, would the SPFL actually have any prize money to distribute?
The attachment (PDF?) might have been too big and their email provider might have delayed sending it until things were quieter over the evening.
But that sounds more like something that would have happened 10 years ago.
Someone else posted that everyone in the Premiership has already had already had the lion's share of the prize money - everybody had received about £1M and Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell had received about £1.5M.
Since Hearts aren't due much more prize money for 12th, is it fair to give them 1/12th of the remaining £11.5M?
