  1. I am an Alloa fan however work colleagues showed me some of the clips and I found these absolutely jaw dropping. Complete charlatans and idiots running your club . Just one thing though guys, please don't write off Steve Herrington. An absolute fantastic and consistent Alloa player for 6 years mostly playing in the championship in that time . The guy was excellent. He was playing in a great Alloa side with terrific players such as Iain Flannigan beside him and he never let us down . I would point out that he had great managers working with him such as Jack Ross and Goodwin who turned him into a combative central midfield player. Please don't write him off . Owen Alloa
  2. Something has just not bee right with us since we lost that late goal at Dumbarton. Two poor performances since albeit hamstrung with stupid spendings offs has left us worrying about a relegation scrap once again. Even with 10 men yesterday we looked lost in that second half and devoid of any fight . The Substitution of Cawley really pissed a lot of folks off also . A further mystery is as to why Robertson has dropped off the starting 11 too as he is a player who has consistently played well for us in multiple positions and never let us down. Surely he would have been better in the middle of the park up against Brown etc yesterday.
  3. We should be used to playing with 10 men now that's three home games . First half hour we played well but completely fell out of it. We are guttless in the middle of the park and astonishing that he took Cawley off who is someone you would want in the trenches with you especially down to ten men. Relegation form this season again as we are simply nowhere near good enough. In essence we were playing with 9 men as king has been annonomous in most of his games for us so far. Today was the poorest we have been this campaign. Well beat .
  4. Niang lasted 25 seconds and must be the quickest sending off for an Alloa player in terms of the game starting . I remember Stewart Malcolm getting his marching orders for a last man foul at forthbank in minute one back in 2006 . I also remember Bobby Dall making his Alloa debut off the bench at Boghead Dumbarton and getting sent off for headbutting a Sons player immediately without him touching the ball . Think this was 1984 . Incidentally Bobby Dall went on to be an absolute fantastic Alloa centre half and hardly ever got booked or sent off afterwards. NIang I thought was unlucky yesterday and the referee should have shown some common sense particularly given the conditions.
  5. I missed the game as I had something on but from the highlights it looked decent. A draw away against anyone in this division is a good result as the teams are evenly matched . Dumbarton have had an excellent start therefore a draw away to them is never a disaster. Excellent goal from Boyd once again. As I said weeks ago , I just hope fans get behind the players and management as this team is decent and improving and certainly all is to play for . We have a strong squad with real options from the bench . Remember we were relegated last season after conceding something like 53 goals in 27 games . The team needed surgery this summer and we have to let the new guys settle. Players like Church , Boyd and the excellent Niang are improving every week . This is a much younger team and it takes time . Mon Alloa
  6. Robbo was terrific when he went into the middle of the park . A terrific player for Alloa . I enjoyed the game albeit obviously not the result. Two pretty well matched teams . Great second goal from Airdrie but we pretty much dominated after this and in truth a draw would have been a fair outcome. Some great coaches and players in the Alloa support as usual........some of the stick dished out to our management team was cringeworthy once again . Give the guy a chance FFS . I actually thought we looked pretty well balanced and played some decent football.
  7. Agree on Arbroath. We are miles behind where we were .
  8. I thought the abuse and booing of Hutton today was utterly pathetic. A disgrace. I didn't agree with parry being relegated to no3 goalkeeper and subsequently moved out but it's hardly Hutton's fault . Nothing like getting behind the players and supporting them. Giving the guy stick is really poor. Alloa have a great reputation as a good part time club to play for and this is evidenced by players sticking with us. Part of this comes from the support from the terraces. Today was a low. The treatment dished out to our goalkeeper was cringeworthy. Too many have had it good and never had to endure poor Alloa teams I suspect. Ferguson will live or die by his decisions and results. We were I think the best we have played all season today and should have really scored more goals. Trouten and Cawley coming into the team made a difference and scougal continued his excellent form. Young Senna in midfield had a good day also. Buchanan could still play for Alloa and is a loss
  9. If he had signed a brilliant young keeper on loan etc and parry wasn't getting a game we would have accepted this . But he hasn't. He's signed Hutton and McDowell. The goalkeeper coach was a disaster as a goalkeeper whilst at Alloa . Both he and McDowell almost relegated us in 2015 when the both of them were useless. We thought we had seen the back of them . Actually glad the game is off tomorrow. Totally fed up
  10. Seems we have strengthened one of our relegation rivals tonight with Parry going to Clyde . An absolute shambles of a call
  11. I think the option to buy season tickets in advance should be considered . I think many fans would be interested in this at this time to keep the wolf from the door particularly with the lack of gate money and match day income. These are very difficult times . It's imperative that the league is finished and a decision is taken on this to allow the prize money to be distributed. Teams may be posturing on this at the moment but this money may be crucial. I would stop relegation and promote the non league teams. Come August anyway I fear some of our clubs will collapse anyway. Promote the top two in each division. We have been very well run over the years but I fear this counts for nothing of the income stream is closed.
  12. Banksy was majestic today . What a player this boy is ... Brilliant tactical game played today by Grant . We are in good shape . We totally spooked them and some of our football was out of the top drawer even without the best midfield player in the division missing. Roll on next Saturday. Mon Alloa
  13. Some pish getting aired on this thread . I really feel sorry for the fans that have travelled down but we've all had this before. It's an absolute horrendous day here in alloa and it's pished rain for 24 hours solid . It's horizontal just now at 4pm. If the game had started it wouldn't have finished. I We've had injuries all season so just half that conspiracy right now .
  14. After an indifferent start to the season , last night proved that we can still mix it with the best in this division when we play our football. No failures from any alloa players last night . Herrington and Flannigan were head and shoulders above their United counterparts in the middle of the park. A great night for us and well done to the players and management team. In terms of United , the only change obviously from last season is a class striker added who will probably score the goals to win the title. Shankland is a terrific player and if he stays fit will bag himself 40 goals this season. a great night's entertainment. Friday football a thumbs up from me however probably the result that's coloured my view.
  15. Brilliant result in Saturday well done alloa . Needed that .
  16. The worst we have played at the recs since Albion Rovers battered us in September 2017 . The shape of the team just isn't right and the players who played out from the back comfortably last season are struggling. Woeful today and Arbroath well worth their win. Herrington should have been off at half time as he was a red card waiting today just a matter of time when . As I said , the worst we have been in 2 years easily .
  17. For those of us old enough, it's unbelievable to think that it's 20 years ago this autumn that we won the challenge cup. A truly brilliant campaign and final. A magnificent achievement especially given how good that Inverness team were. It would be nice to see the club honour the hero's of 1999. One of my best days at the football in 44 years supporting alloa and luckily there have been many. Great memories of the whole tournament including an injury ravaged alloa coming back to beat Stirling at forthbank in the semi final.
  18. I noticed hearts had to come from behind against a much weaker opponent a few divisions below them also last night in the pre season cup. Games are unpredictable this time of the season. Players are just trying to get fit and managers are trying out new systems . I noticed jim Goodwin is under pressure already unbelievable really. I think we need to chill and this is a fine thing coming from me . Very early days. We know what these players are capable of but we also know we need strengthening to replace last season's star turns . Mon alloa
  19. The narrow pitch suited them . Perhaps the solution will be to widen the pitch but not to the width it was before . It definitely doesn't suit our midfield men and Our full backs . Seen It last season where dross like falkirk and others could come and defend and beat us of the set plays . We need at least 4 players in and we are missing the star turns that the loans brought us last season. The goalkeeper just won't so I'm afraid also. It's pre season Ffs and some really need to calm down. The manger is working things out and the players are building up fitness in these games. We have some terrific footballers in our team and in truth we should have had the game won before half time . I was impressed with Dylan Mackin when he was with us but he has certainly found the road to greigs since he's left .He looks well over weight. Get the head down and get it back big man you can still do something. Mon alloa
  20. I'm just back from dunkeld for the weekend and they certainly weren't £6 up there. Very high quality though recommended
  21. Try going to the cinema, round of golf or a concert and then come back and say £18 to get into a game involving a championship team is over priced...everything is expensive these days . You will strugg!e to get 2 fish suppers for the price of admissions to the Recs FFs.. The season ticket is an outstanding piece of value . People seem to like to moan on this . As I said , everything is expensive now
  22. Think it's pathetic people not coming back . An absolute embarrassment. Our club is well run punching well above its weight and has a brilliant track record of appointments who move on to better things. Certainly many of the negative comments on the arsebook were from people who are never near the recs anymore but experts on football.
  23. Good luck Peter and welcome to Alloa Just glad we have appointed a manager at a crucial time of the season . I suspect he has many contacts and is well experienced as a coach. We never go down the predictable route and it seems to work for us. Mike had not made many bad appointments in his time and he has to be trusted . Mon alloa
