  1. Any idea why half the turnstiles in main stand KM side are shut?
  2. Unexpectedly a wee bit emotional heading into this game. 5 years in the wilderness. I’ll admit - as I’m sure many others would - that when we finished 6th in League One off the back of M&M, Holt, Sheerin, Deans, Rennie etc, we perhaps hadn’t bottomed out. League One was maybe where we were due to stay; maybe we’d have to go part-time, or, god forbid, we could slide even further down the pyramid. A future case study in how not to manage a football club - an example of how quickly things could fall to pieces. But we got our club back. We’re back. It’s down to us, every single one of the fans who stuck by the club during the darkest period in its history. We’ve got a team who cares, a board who has the clubs interests at heart, and a management team who built this squad out of the rubble that was left over in Summer 2022. Enjoy tonight guys. Hopefully another season to remember. Mon the f**king Bairns
  3. On a complete side note, after the Terrace boys mentioned McKenna and conspiracy theories, I’d advise anyone who likes to keep their football and the outside world seperate against having a scroll on his Twitter feed. Not even bog standard left/right political opinions, it’s actual tin foil hat stuff Very much hope his brain on the pitch is more use than off it.
  4. That’s Michael McGovern retired. A bit of a shame as I always thought he might come back before he did, but it doesn’t always work out. One of our best keepers in the club’s modern history imo.
  5. Didn’t have much to disagree with the Terrace boys segment tbh, even if they got a couple of players mixed up. The chat on MacIver was good and they’d obviously looked into it. They touched on the strength of our attacking options and our ability to really hurt quality teams. The observation that a large number of our squad is comprised of people with previous Championship experience, but who failed to set it alight during past spells, is pretty accurate, if we’re being fair. However, they also recognised that our team as a unit is more than the sum of its parts; a lot of these players will have improved since they last played in this division, and there is also the galvanising effect of last season. Finally, McGlynn’s ability to build a squad with solid recruitment while playing exciting, attacking football that is often successful and good to watch is something we’ve witnessed. Similarly, his primary shortcoming, which is struggling to change games where it’s not working, is something we all already know too. A decent season, pushing for play-offs but ultimately finishing about 5th is one I feel most of us would be satisfied with.
  6. On a side note, I do still think the kiosk price increases are a little too steep (never mind the food btw, 3 quid for a cup of tea/instant coffee is daylight robbery lol), but on top of the club making more money, the more important thing for me is the company paying their staff properly and looking after them. Obviously I have no idea and this is a purely vibes-based judgement so I may be totally wrong, but I didn’t get that feeling from the last catering folk. Maybe not a massive thing and I know the “community club” thing can be sickly and overplayed, but nonetheless its good it was part of the clubs consideration.
  7. Hendo to two-foot big haddy Shankland imo
  8. Home tie, sell out, likely to be a TV game. Not bad at all.
  9. With the seeding it’s gonna be a tough draw whoever we get tbh so not particularly arsed, good laugh eh
  10. As much as we all rate McCann, it been documented that McGlynn has been absolutely choking to get Mackie in at left-back since he signed. Even though McCann had a decent season in 22/23, Mackie started at left-back in last years group stages until he got injured after two games and by the time he got back, Leon was undroppable. It’s been his turn to be injured this summer and it’s Mackies spot to lose, and if he starts the season well I can see Leon warming the bench for a few weeks. That competition is good to have though.
  11. It’s still July and McKenna has had a collective 58 minutes of football across four substitute appearances. Absolutely wild to be forming opinions on him now.
  12. Bit early to judge McKenna on sub appreances. His height could be an asset as he won a few headers from their goal kicks when he came on and put a nice couple of balls through. Will judge him when he gets fully up to speed
  13. Was it a handball? Reckon it would have been a penalty anyway as he was shoved over. Can see a heads gone from Stenny now.
  14. Callumn got a wager on Stenny under 5 goals?
  15. Actually if you’re gonna do it in the box, keep going lads. Thanks xx
  16. Stenny fancy going 30 seconds without chopping someone?
  17. Would liked to have seen McKenna getting a start
  18. McGlynn has done a brilliant job recruitment-wise as we all know, and I’m not really in the mood to question him much. In that spirit, looking at the squad now, the only choice I would have made differently would be to have been letting Oliver go and using his wage towards a striker to challenge MacIver. I understand McGlynn’s desire to keep the league winning squad together, and there’s no doubting Oliver is a clever player and will do some form of job if called upon. But if we’re being cutthroat about it, he only started 6 league games last year in League One, and while I doubt he’s one of our high earners, he’s also an experienced player so I would doubt he’s on pennies. I just think that with McGlynn (rightly) pointing out money is tight and we have to be sensible - as well as McKenna being brought in in that area of the pitch too - it’s funds that really should have gone elsewhere.
  19. I winced a little when I read the click-baity headline, but when I read what he actually said, I don’t think anything was unreasonable tbh.
  20. MacIver is absolutely vital to how we play and I’m still baffled people question it. The only part of his game you could be relatively critical of is that for the number of chances he gets, he’s not clinical enough - which could potientially be more of an issue a level up. But as others have said, that’s balanced by the fact that if he could do everything he does plus put away every chance he gets, he wouldn’t be at Falkirk.
