  1. Can anyone see my avi? I can't. Does it have to be approved or something before it's visible?
  2. OK. Another tester. In the case of a boxer involved in a car accident. Loses one eye, one arm. Has his licence to fight rescinded by the BBBC. Is that no restriction of trade? Should he take that to court as it's discriminatory? What if Oscar Pistorius wanted to sign for ra Gers? Would they discriminate against him by telling him to GTF (ye might be quick, son, but we've nae boots tae fit ye),
  3. it wis me that got him to observe that RFC have never operated a discriminatory signing policy. Ah'm dead chuffed wi' masel', so ah am.
  4. Yes, that was correct, but now the law has changed. Where is that statute you promised me?
  5. yo've still not directed me towrads that section of the EU Equal Employment statute
  6. Aye, registered as a player. nothing to stop you employing him as, say, a coach.
  7. I just realised he is, he must be. Pleading discrimination from the football club with the most discriminatory signing policy ever, pot kettle and black, oh very funny, very, very good. Had me going a bit there.
  8. No, honestly, I don't. Please tell me which EU statute the embargo would contravene. I don't puff up my chest and bluster about my work, but in your case i'll make an exception. I manage a team of 8 people in a compliance role and have to deal day-to-day with HR issues, recruitment etc, in close conjunction with our HR department. A big part of my job is to read through and ensure implementation of complex procedures to ensure we stick to them and don't miss any of the finer points. So, point me in the right direction and I'll read through it.
  9. OK you have a go. Why was it discriminatory? And if it was, why did the Good Lord not mention that? It wasn't thrown out because it was discriminatory.
  10. That was self-inflicted to the point of masochism. Christ, the streetsweepers in Govan were on OT, there was that much spunk on the stps of Ibrox, ye were cumming in yer pants when Craigie boy walked in.
  11. Previous quote re employment law. Let's try to explain it with a different example: a hospital decides to recruit a nurse, but use her as a Doctor. Perfectly OK, except she doesn't have the required registration. No problem if they decide to use her as a cleaner tho, even if she is over 18. They can even pay her at doctor's rates.
  12. The punishment (transfer embargo ) was not explicit within the rule books but was implicit (any other punishement as deemed appropriate). It's like the last line on most managers' (not football) job description " and any other tasks as required" i.e. if yir director says jump, ye jump.
  13. It doesn't say you can't employ anyone, it just says you can't register them as players. The CoS didn't say that a transfer embargo was unlawful, per se, it was that it hadn't been specified in the list of possible penalties. Transfer embargoes are perfectly legitimate punishments, witness Sion's. Thye just ignored it, and the Swiss FA were told to sort them out for doing so. You could buy Messi, and use him to clean the toilets. FFS get that into your thick skull
  14. I was very heartened by my Chairman's attitude ( and very obvious anger) yesterday (Big Up, Mr G.). I just hope he holds that emotion and vents it, when the big vote comes, in a positive manner. Revenge is a dish best served cold.
  15. ......and slowly the sands run down, and what was the greater part becomes the lesser, and what was the lesser part becomes greater, the swinging blade moves closer, ever closer, the victims eyes grow ever wider, fear grows ever stronger, with the dawning realisation that salvation is not at hand, and doom is the only certainty. a quote, IIRC, from the Pit and The Pendulum by Edgar Allan Poe
  16. Best post for a long time, had tears in my eyes. ps, what have the SPL ever done for us?
