  1. It’s been a while! Not got a great track record v Clyde in my time supporting. Only ‘highlights’ that spring to mind are the aforementioned Carcary show (what a player btw...for the 1st few weeks we had him) and winning at Broadwood in 01/02? The season we went down with only one away win and that was it! Big Andy Smith got the goals I think? Funnily enough, Falkirk should have come down with us to the 3rd tier that season but Airdrie dying saved them! Ah well, they got here in the end.... Expecting a tough game on Saturday, Clyde will be on a high but if we can match their work rate and can keep Goodwillie isolated and quiet then hopefully we do enough for another 3pts. 3-1
  2. Can’t see any problem with fans wanting ‘answers’ from McGlynn. We are a community club, a family, we contribute money towards the club on a regular basis. Raith TV should be asking more searching stuff than the usual mundane questions with their predictable ‘copy and paste’ replies. The don’t have to be abrupt or insulting. I mean, I would be happy with something like “Is the defence (and overall application) worrying you after the performances in shipping 10 goals in three games? If so, what will be done differently to try and rectify things? Will we be looking to add a loan or two to shore things up?”
  3. Much as I shudder at his managerial reign, what I’d give for us to sign another Grant Murray as a player. Quality CB, head and shoulders above what we have.......and can play right back if required! Not being at game I can’t comment much but dead rubber or not, losing 3 scud to Cove Rangers minus their best couple of players isn’t good!
  4. Not Bene, it’s Matthews and yes, it IS a foul, no goal had this been scored at the women’s World Cup anyway! We don’t have VAR though and there are plenty other things wrong with the ‘defending’ of this goal that McGlynn needs to address sharpish. We re-signed Davo, we have yet to add a right back and we essentially swapped our best CB (Murray) for Mendy who has started woefully...Over to you Gaffer
  5. Never heard the term before but get the feeling their are plenty soy boys that post on here, precious souls. Is ‘soy boy’ the new way of calling someone a ‘wee poofter’ without being attacked by the pc brigade? Anyway, not at game today but worrying times if Davo outperformed his defensive partner. Any positives at all?! Somebody ease the pain please!
  6. Titles aren’t won on paper. Falkirk look to have made a few decent signings but how will they all come together? While they ‘should’ scoosh the league, if they don’t get off to a good start, McKinnon starts feeling the pressure etc etc, few injuries...guys who have dropped down suddenly realise playing at Stranraer, Forfar.... ain’t much fun. Being the ‘big’ team puts a target on their head too. Sammon isn’t prolific, big unit and a handful though so should do well in League One. Gomis is getting on a bit, classy player but he isn’t going to get the time on the ball he wants at some of the places they visit. Tidser is a solid defence minded midfielder too.. A load of Tidsers Morton teammates join him (*Greenock Morton, not Barcelona) Charlie Telfer seems a decent addition though he seemed to have stagnated a bit since looking a great prospect at Utd. Denny Johnstone had one good season at Morton, like Sammon, poor goals to game ratio for a forward. Connolly looked class with us but didn’t set the heather on fire in the conference then barely got a game in a dire Dunfermline team, something to prove... *Insomnia is a bad thing if it makes you think too hard about Falkirk players, let’s just hope Ray the snake has another mare of a season....
  7. Ah right! Just mind thinking it was a winger playing centre forward, cheers. Funnily enough, the weather last night wasn’t dissimilar
  8. Echo (most) others, decent workout with some good individual performances. Pinch of salt needed though that we were in our 1st pre season game against the mighty Stirling. I was kind of hoping Anderson might be transitioned into a right wing back, think his all round game would be suited to it however yesterday we see him start as the main striker for (correct me if I’m wrong) the 1st time since that game he scored in v Hibs before the weather got it abandoned at half time? Hopefully the striker situation is resolved before the competitive stuff starts, otherwise I’m surprisingly optimistic
  9. I’m just hoping he delivers a good cross and can take a decent free kick so we can call him Victoria Beckham.
  10. Gillespie is the answer to that one. Has been exclusively a holding midfielder his whole career until arriving here where like everyone else we shoe horn them all into whatever position we can disregarding players’ best positions, shape, balance etc etc. No question we need guys playing week in week out in a position they are comfortable with.
  11. Does anyone really believe McGlynn would leave his job to return here? I don’t. i would suggest he would be mental to do so
  12. I always thought Dundee and Morton under Duffy played some decent football, especially compared to what we have suffered lately. I’m sure he is adaptable enough to play a way which suits the players at his disposal should he come here. You surely don’t coach/manage at the levels he has for 25 years without being able to change things up if/when required!
  13. Jim Duffy would be a sensible appointment. Things would be different if we weren’t part way through a season and any new guy had time and a bit of money to do his own thing. As it is though, Duffy knows this level inside out, knows what it takes to win this division, is respected by most as a good coach, good manager, his experience speaks for itself and he doesn’t have the ego or self importance of guys like Hartley has or Hughes did. I would love us to unearth the next best thing in Scottish Football management but we really need to be looking at things short term where getting out of this league is prioritised above all else
  14. I’m actually of the view that we would have won the league if we hadn’t signed Smith at all. Probably the worst keeper I’ve ever seen play for us. Smith’s (manager) persistence/stubbornness in keeping him in goal so long was baffling. Also agree that if we don’t have the players to fit in comfortably to a rigid 4-4-2 then we need to be working on something different. Squad is full of central defensive and defensive midfield players and we are playing to many guys out of position far too often
  15. Looks slightly narrower to me, pitch was always right up close on the Railway Stand side while the other side looks to have come in a little bit
  16. My favourite memory of Berwick’s ground was after a minute or two of game, Bodge realises he is at wrong side of ground so just casually (and drunkenly) walks across the pitch about in line with 18 yard box, quality!
  17. Miller barely ripped this league apart when he was in it and in a much better team than ours will be. Given he is getting on a bit, I wouldn’t fancy him here too much, especially if he was to be paired with Buchanan. If we were looking for experience, how about another Miller, Lee? I presume Livi won’t be keeping him? We were crying out for a unit up top last season to bring others into play and occupy opposing centre backs
  18. If Barr is being honest and Hughes’ idea of training for the last few weeks of the season was a game of 8aside each day of the week then that is a total farce. Thought he came across well, shame he refused to delve into more detail with the juicy stuff Being a petulant footballer for 90mins on a Sat doesn’t make Barr a bad person, hope he does well wherever he ends up
  19. I had no idea about Lithgow’s past until I read up on it last night! Been a standout in play offs for Livi so far. Must of been sick in the head to be doing stuff like that. I would be fine with Goodwillie signing but in this day and age when people are offended by the slightest of things, a big deal like us signing a ‘possible or probable rapist’ would cause outrage I imagine. As mentioned, we have Davo who bottled someone down Kdy high street. Had Hill who smashed a cocktail jug off a girls head....are these any worse a roll model than someone who was accused of something, never proven and is trying to get on with his life? Livi had e a flasher and a baseball bat thug in their line up today but doubt the fans will care Now they have gained promotion while the two in question are getting on with things and are hopefully staying out of trouble. I followed the Ched Evans thing down South quite closely and it was pretty blatant that he was falsely charged causing him to spend a pretty long period in jail, have his promising career derailed and having to suffer dogs abuse from all quarters. The guy was an idiot and got into a situation that he just shouldn’t have, yes. Did he deserve everything he got, not a chance. Goodwillie might just be in the same boat whether someone judges him as a ‘probable’ sex offender or not. Anyway, hows the pitch looking lol
  20. If we stay down but remain full time then the table suggests we will do fine with roughly what we have. If we went up it would be a long season around the bottom of table I imagine. Dunfermline’s surge in numbers has plenty to do with their brush with extinction, siege mentality stuff. Basically they have benefited ever since and continue to do so. What exactly was the punishment again? Couple of season in this league but they got rid of all the deadwood and got to build a better team cause of it
  21. That’s what I mean, £15 IS a fair price in terms of football matches but football in general is overpriced so unless people have RRFC in their heart (or as a habit) then you can understand them spending their money and/or time elsewhere. Just the way things are, every side in the country have sleeping fans that come out the woodwork for the big games. It’s our clubs job to get as many of them to attend as often as possible, not done great with that lately!
  22. Had we won and entertained today then this along with seeing them pick up the trophy might have enticed some of the ‘3,000’ along more regularly. It’s a shame that more don’t attend but as mentioned, not everyone has football in their blood so to speak and value for money? Watching us is not! Certainly not a bad thing that people turned up today, at the very least it will boost any short term cash flow issues
  23. Hope no gay black man with the mental age of 10 is reading this
  24. Unless we get beat there and still win the league! Ayr still have tricky trips to places like Arbroath, Alloa, Airdrie, even Coatbridge could be a struggle if the pitch is still such a mess. They have shown already that they can lose at home when unexpected too. Like most, I’m starting to lose a bit of faith but the whole season has been up and down for both sides. A point at least down there would be great but wouldn’t be catastrophic to lose providing we go on a winning run til end.
