  1. One to file in the bitter category. Not sure how you arrive at that. United have accumulated 9 points more than last season champions at same stage of the season with a +22 better goal difference. And similarly the season before 8 point better off and +21 better goal difference than the champions. The season before that Hearts the runaway champions were on same points but United pip it with a +1 better goal difference. And the season before that a team was way ahead it was ............. Dundee United. So Dundee United are the only champions in recent years to be better than Dundee United of this season. I think you should take credit for the fact Raith have accumulated such a big points total, granted with a far inferior goal difference.
  2. I think there is merit in what you are saying about the start to Morton's season and clearly on an impressive run and stand a good chance of going up through the play offs if they maintain their form. And that is an if. Raith Rovers went on that long unbeaten run but when it stopped they started to drop points all over the shop and Stanton injury also contributed. But it can also be argued that United's sticky patch has coincided with key players out through injury. Basically the league is decided over a season, not a purple patch and all teams have had their challenges with injuries and sticky periods. Yours was at start, ours has come in 3rd quarter (we only lost 1 game up to the mid point of the season) The games at Cappielow will be interesting. Will be different from Tannadice. Our problems have mainly come at home. Away from home we havent lost a league game apart from the late wonder goal at Raith, a game which we largely dominated.
  3. if you want to take solace in winning the temporary higher placing cup then you can have that one.
  4. No United are obviously 6th. People know that. Every measure United are ahead of Dundee. Average attendance every season for almost 50 years. Even this season United in 2nd tier Dundee United 8067, Dundee 6802 and that is including visits of Celtic, Rangers, Hearts twice. Size of ground United Honours fairly even both won 5 major trophies United won 1 more Scottish Cup Dundee 1 more League Cup so United edge it. Head to head even though United didn't really get going as a top level club until the start of the 60's United are well ahead. Europe. Both reached European Cup semi but United have been in a European final. Dundee have not. United European record come out top again.
  5. Should be an interesting game as I expect Raith wont sit back as need a win to close the gap. United's problems this season has come at home where teams sit in and we have struggled to break this down. Despite our form not being that great we keep taking the points away from home its now W9 D2 L0 and we rarely concede F24 A3.
  6. Dundee FC whose crowning achievement over the last 45 years is to finish at the dizzy heights of 5th it the table. Who can forget the absolute delirium at Pittodrie among the fans and Bonetti running on the pitch as Dundee secured the great achievement of getting in to the top 6. The delirium was short lived as they went to administration not once but twice. Now they are boasting about just being the top league for 7 out of the last 10 seasons. At least I have the lived memories of seeing my club win the league, The Scottish Cup , League Cup and play in a European Final. I cant begin to imagine what it must feel like for having a number of seasons in the top flight as the only thing to cling to.
  7. Everyone agrees that was a mediocre game but there have also been many crackers. You get crap games in any league.
  8. Yeah and United's goal difference is +16 better than Raith's. But it is points that matter and fair doos to Rovers for keep producing the results. I think the game came at a good time for them on this winning run with confidence high and United dip in form since the league broke for the cups and international break. The big question is can Raith keep this going through the whole season and United inevitably getting their form back. What is absolutely certain there is a very real title race on.
  9. Footyadventrures at game today. i am sure you Raith fans will enjoy
  10. You have to remember the capacity of Tannadice is over 14.2K. A crowd of 8.5K leaves over 40% seats unoccupied and that certainly looked the case on Friday.
  11. Its pretty simple we introduced a strip at beginning of season to commemorate our final period as Dundee Hibs and tonight we are celebrating the centenary of becoming Dundee United. Its really not that difficult to grasp.
  12. Hey Arbroath fans you can get your free match programme for the game tonight and join in with the celebrations https://issuu.com/dundeeunitedfc/docs/arbroath_digital
  13. Thistle had 11 men for 80 minutes and United were already 3 up so not really that significant.
  14. Colin Weir Stand coming up as sold out. I would assume it is the full stand.
  15. Have a certain level of sympathy with this view but I don't think this helps "Because they used to have a different name 100 years ago? What’s all that about?" Dick Campbell rages at SPFL as Arbroath boss goes on rant over Dundee United fixture change See when United brought a full strength team to Arbroath less than 24 hours after playing a league game so Arbroath could celebrate winning a match 100 years earlier. What's all that about?
  16. The funny thing is when Rangers died and rewrote the rule book on what a club and company is Airdrie United suddenly realised we don't need the United bit we can just pretend like them nothing changed.
  17. United have over 5000 season ticket holders so for most games the bulk of the home support wont be paying at the gate. Not justifying the prices but need to take in consideration United have taken a big financial hit being relegated from The Premiership with a lot of the players still on Premiership wages. So squad wise and facilities we are still operating as a Premiership side. That will change if we don't get back up first time and some severe cuts will have to happen. Airdrie on the other hand are on an upward trajectory and your squad is probably better balanced financially for playing in this league. Looking forward to the game getting to play one of the traditional top league Scottish sides that have spent some time in the wilderness. Used to enjoy the trips to the old Broomfield which was always a tricky venue and sparring with the Section B.
  18. The capacity of Tannadice is over 14k. A crowd of just under 9k leaves a third of stadium empty.
  19. Wasn't going to mention it but I was replying to one of your fellow fans who asked 'were Dundee United allowed any of their fans in today'
