Petty Things That Get On Your Nerves...

Yeah, you're not getting a full-time permanent job if your cover letter begins "I am a digital nomad." -

I think that's a bit harsh, I've read plenty of posts from League 2 fans acknowledging the imbalance of the situation. -
Bang average keeper if you ask me.

Bitcoin/cryptocurrency thread

This isn't the best thread for this story as it isn't really anything to do with crypto. But it does show that all this market manipulation by big players in crypto which is rightfully condemned on here also happens in traditional finance. So anyway, here's an interesting story from Bloomberg's always entertaining Matt Levine about how a huge player in nickel bullied London Metals Exchange into accepting about 10% of what he actually owed ($11 billion), while obviously shafting loads of smaller players at the same time. https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2022-07-07/nickel-big-shot-called-the-shots -

People who go out of their way to do things like that should be front of the queue for life priority gazing. -
Yes, but 500 at a match between a Championship and League 1 club is clearly closer to "embarrassing" than "very well attended". Clubs in League 2 will be averaging more than that this season. I also don't support either club.

Car alarms. -
The capacity is 499, no? That's not what I'd call very well attended.

The advances in ball manufacture have surely evened that out. Play with a 1890s football today and every game would be 0-0. -

Any sane person would have thought "maybe I'll bank some of these gains just in case" but as you say a lot of people fall foul to the addictive gambling side of markets and the volatility of crypto adds to the appeal. You wouldn't laugh at someone who lost his job, house and wife to an addiction to betting on horses, but it seems crypto loses are fair game to be mocked for. -

That does seem somewhat implausible. Unless there's some sort of subscribe to the podcast and get a free season ticket sort of deal. Bonnyrigg have done brilliantly to get half that number in the league above. -
We not allowed to call them carnivals any more?

Think it was €0.20, had a few post party clear ups where I'd net over €50.

Girl next to me on the bus is sporting a hoodie from this club. Also, pretty much all the teams from Bermuda have cool names.

Cashiers who give you a strange look and ask if you really wanted to buy sparkling water. Yes I do, and where the f**k were you those hungover/still drunk times when I bought Pepsi Max or Irn Bru SF by mistake? -
I put that in there as I didn't want to think through every situation. However, you shouldn't do so in Nordic countries as the machine then can't read the bar code and give you money for recycling it. Was a pain in the arse having bin bags full of non-crushed dreggy cans stinking up the house which needed to be taken down to the supermarket, then spending half an hour feeding them through the machine.

Nah, I've flown through there before and it was the same, pretty sure the airline mentioned it in an email as well so it's on me. Still not sure of the point though. -

Perhaps I've just been lucky and have only had flights delayed once I'm already through security. It's not something I recall other people talking about. It really wasn't an issue in the end, one of the general airport staff did it without any fuss, just thought it weird you can arrive at the airport over two hours before your flight departs and check in is closed. That's not the case at all airports. -

So if you get a message in the morning saying your flight's delayed by ten hours you're supposed to get to the airport twelve hours before departure? Why close check in when the outgoing aircraft isn't even in the country yet? What's the point in on line check in if they make you do it again at the airport? Petty things, my friend. In related news, Luton's a shitehole, I want to go home. -
In most circumstances, yes.

Waking up to a message from the airline saying your flight's been delayed by hours, getting to the airport two hours before the rescheduled time only to be told check in closed forty minutes before the original departure time. Also: having to check in at a desk even though you've checked in online and only have carry on. Also: every other fucking thing about airports. More to follow, no doubt. -
FK Tirana 1-2 F91 Dudelange. Champions League action at the new national stadium. I was at the final game at the old stadium so it was great to see the new one. Easily one of the best places I've watched football, especially for the dreaded "match day experience". Really nice atmosphere around the stadium, loads of bars and shops built into the ground floor. Bars in the stadium have a view of the pitch and are cheaper than the fancier ones in town. Amazing how many women will watch football in Albania when you actually put female toilets in a stadium. The stadium itself is probably the best I've been to for acoustics. It was only about a third full but was deafening when I arrived half an hour before kick off. Tirana fans did a great job, never stopping singing even with the tie forlorn. On the pitch they were just a bit shite and Dudelange never looked in trouble.

Got absolutely wrecked last night at a vineyard. Not the slightest hint of a hangover this morning. Extended my stay for another night to do it all again. Also quite proud of my friend who was the first ever tourist here and convinced them to do tastings et cetera, the family are now minted because of him and he never took a penny for it.

What are the things you hate regarding fitba?
DiegoDiego replied to Bluenortherner's topic in Misc Other Fitba Chat
I agree with you, but Trezeguet was my favourite player for a while and one of life's good c***s so he gets a pass from me.
