  1. The 92,000 game I was speaking of was in 1918 IIRC. Although other reports have it as 52,000. Certainly there is more evidence pointing to Celtic Park's record attendance being 83,500. I stand corrected regarding the Killie vs Albion Rovers game. I am sure I seen it listed as Celtic Park somewhere, obviously I or that was wrong.
  2. Celtic Park's record attendance for a Celtic game is up for debate. Some sources have it as 92,000 for Celtic vs Rangers, some have it as 88,500 and some have it 83,500. The Scottish Cup Final between Kilmarnock and Albion Rovers is listed as 95,000 which would be the stadiums record. I am sure Queen's Park's record attendance was against Rangers and not Celtic.
  3. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36990513 With promises of investment it'll be interesting to see if Milan can mount a serious challenge to Juventus in the coming seasons. Are Milan still due to move to a new stadium?
  4. Just had a wee look at that. They're not holding back eh? The irony of the guy who wrote "Every time I've seen BP9 he seems to put forward a progressive and modern view that is in keeping with the 21st century we live in" being abused and shot down in flames is not lost on me.
  5. Ahhh, how we long for the good old days when not kicking with the left foot was all that was needed to gain a "foothold in positions of power and influence in institutions across the land" And regarding name changing, it would be Sean surely?...
  6. That's what is making their tears and snotters so hilarious. For 90 minutes they sang about being up to their knees, and chasing F*nians everywhere, followed by how No Surrender was the cry and even taking up arms for terrorist organisations, yet come 4.50pm we've to believe how they're a bunch of wee precious souls who are being terrorised at every turn.

  9. A pal of mine had been playing pretty solid for a couple of years with Mizuno game improvement type irons, then at the start of the last golf season he switched to Mizuno blades. Can hardly hit an iron now, his game has fell away. I play with Cobra game improvement type irons and I can't recommend them highly enough, so easy to hit, launch and very forgiving, although they may be no use to a 7 HC. I'd also recommend having a look at clubhousegolf.co.uk Just as many, maybe even more clubs than AG, but generally works out a bit cheaper. Totally agree, Cobra don't get the recognition they deserve.
  10. Pretty much similar to myself, though I will probably be a few years older than yourself. I was fascinated of my old man's tales about 60/70,000 crammed into Celtic Park, 70/80,000 at Ibrox, I suppose it would be like trying to fit 60,000 people in the bottom tiers of the current stadiums. The story of him getting to the ground an hour before kick off but thanks to the sheer volume of people he still missed the first 30 minutes of the Celtic vs Leeds match at Hampden. Over 136,000 people, not taking into account those lifted over/those who skipped in, and the gate that burst open under the sheer pressure of bodies outside. He always said you'll never know how many were actually at that game but if someone was able to count 150,000 bodies, he wouldn't be surprised. It's quite miraculous that stadium disasters didn't happen more often when you consider the crowds and the old rickety stadiums.
  11. Before my time but my father was at the game, and my mother who grew up in Kirkintilloch was friends with one of the victims and my family were on speaking terms with the families of the other three victims, which isn't a huge surprise as Kirkintilloch's population was still in the process of growing. I remember my old man talking about how his crowd, mostly Celtic but a few Rangers, would all make their way to games together and meet up in their local after the match, but this game two of the Rangers fans didn't up show up for the usual post match piss up. Of course panic sets in once word starts breaking about the disaster. Turns out they had bumped into another pal and decided to go for a drink in town instead. They weren't even aware themselves as to what happened. Something tells me they weren't the only ones who were unaccounted because of similar circumstances.
  12. Similar thing has happened with Clapton FC. Anti-fash, hipsters and students have latched on to the club with that up their own arse attitude of 'this is how you should support a team'. All that's happened is Clapton have been warned by the FA for political banners being flown and the morons from the EDL have showed up and caused bother.
  13. Was reading this morning about how that picture has went viral, only for me to spot this
  14. I'm with you on that subject actually. I have no idea why, but it irks me when people do it.
  15. Just been been shared by a lassie I used to work with. Followed by the usual shite of "OMG thats so gony b u chik xxxx"
  16. Few years back I was seeing a lassie who had a Pug and she was like that, would refer to the dog as her baby, how she was it's mummy and all that sort of shite. That was bad enough but the thing that done it for me was, one night I was about to take the dog for a walk only for her to remark that how lucky he was getting taking for a walk by his uncle Paul. I like dogs, but chat like that is fucking brutal.
  17. Liking that page would be up there with Rosa Parks in terms of making a difference IMO....
  18. ZZ Top - I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide.
  19. This hasn't gone down well with a few perma-ragers after a pal of mine shared it.
