Aye. Most of The gripes I’ve read  about him are about him not shouting enough. He’s 19 and got drafted in today to take the place of the established goalie. Maybe nerves got the better of him in that department. But he was otherwise pretty good. He looked confident enough to take the ball and make the smart pass as opposed to just hoofing it.

It was Sanders in front of him that was the bombscare.

I don't blame the keeper, I blame the decision to play him in a game where we had a makeshift defence and he'd played one senior game before.

Tomlinson last week and Clarke this week have been errors we could have been avoided.

Basically one Raith player in the 18 yard box and the centre half picking up the one Raith forward is a good 10 yards from him, facing the wrong way and completely asleep.

The keeper is rooted to his line, despite the defender being in completely in the wrong place.

Absolute school boy stuff. Armatures would get bollocked for that kind of defending.

    This angle is even worse

He is the right side of Rudden

He completely loses the ball and the man.

Within 2 seconds he has lost 5 yards on Rudden.

Yeah it's just a goal, they happen.

Absolutely, I think we all do it at times but it can be very easy to look back at highlights and try and pinpoint very small defensive mistskes with the benefit of knowing how the bit of play unfolds.

I don’t want to be too harsh on Syla either - he gave the ball away but that’s going to happen as well at times and he has been good recently.

Keep the heid lads. Brown & Whittaker know what they are doing.

I'm confident we'll stay up and they are under no illusions on the size of overhaul this squad needs!

I agree with the first part, we have been a lot more professional since they took over but the rebuild, I have major concerns over that.

Ooft! That must have been a sore one.

I forget he played for Ayr. Was he on loan?

He signed. He was a team mate of Daziels at Raith and signed for him pretty early on after he took over.

Always thought Albinson looked really good the times I've seen him. Bit surprised at you guys wanting him punted. Swap you for Mehmet.

he was average when we signed him, he was very good last season and this season he has been a bit suspect. He was dropped by Bullen after he gifted a goal earlier in the season, Mutch came in and was poor and Albinson came back in.
it seemed harsh that Albinson was dropped at the time, Mutch made a couple of howlers when he came in and was rightly dropped.

Albinson came back in for the Dundee United game and was at fault for both goals. He was dropped again for the Airdrie game, he came on when Mutch got injured.

Everyone out of the inner circle at the club assumed signing Clarke was cover for Albinson. For him to come straight in is a massive slap In the face of Albinson and sends a message that he is persona non grata at the club. He’s not been as good as last season but hasn’t been dreadful. He also doesn’t seem to deserve the treatment he’s getting from the club.

I remember him getting the ball cannoned off his dish during the Stenny game and he fell and got back up about five times in rapid succession.

    A game saving block.

I remember Danny Lennon signed for Ayr and on his debut, joined the wall at a Thistle free kick. The Thistle player rattled the free kick right in Lennons face. He went down like a felled tree, straight backwards.

there was a brief silence, broken by a Thistle fan laughing like a fucking drain from behind the goal.

  7. Performance wise today, had we equalised, no one would have complained about it. I think we were fine and competed well. Raith didn’t have many chances and we had them pinned back for a lot of the game. They contained Dowds and McKenzie pretty much completely.

Mistakes cost us in the first half and having no left back overlapping didn’t help.

Murphy has been player of the year so far for me. Absolutely velvet player.

Yeah fair. I had high(er) hopes for the window and kept an open mind but the signings have not been what I had hoped for.

Sanders had a Knudsen type game where almost anything he did was a calamity. Raith had 3 shots on goal in the first half and all 3 were the exact same ball over his head that he stood and watched.

  9. A frustrating game but i’m more annoyed at the club that the team.

if we bring in a full back during the window, we don’t end up with that carthorse at centre half. We play a keeper who has played one senior game and they both manage to cost us the first goal.

The players we have brought in have been either poor or invisible.

Finding out that the players that were out were actually fit and the players that were fit were actually out worked wonders today. Just fucking stop it. Tell us who is fit, why Albinson has been dropped for a child that can’t speak and why Reading didn’t play and how long he’ll be out for.

Musonda played several games at right back when he was with us, I'm surprised he's not the defender you'd move over

Stanger got up and down the wing against Dundee United once he moved out there. Musonda would most likely sit defensively. It would mean making more changes to things  than if it was Stanger. Musonda moved out there on Saturday so I wouldn’t rule him out of playing there.  I just think Stanger is more likely.

McCalister gets done with that near every single game to be fair so he's immediately the standard we are used to at worst.

There is similarities between Tomlinsons nutmeg and McCallisters - getting done on the outside, being so bad, by the time he realises he’s being done, the player is 10 yards from him putting a cross in. Shown in glorious HD during the Rangers game and at least 15 times in the first half against Dundee United.

The only difference is, McCallister has played over 100 senior games and has developed in to a decent league one right back who is out of contract in the summer and Tomlinson is a teenager that is unlikely to develop while getting made a c**t of every week. Playing reserve games, coming off the bench and maybe starting towards the end of the season with a view to him breaking through properly next seasons would make more sense.

One of the guys mentioned it in the podcast, but if Ayr are playing someone out of position at RB, then it's definitely worth bringing Easton back into the starting 11.  There could also be a case made for bringing him on with 30 to go so he can then run at a RB who's out of position and tired.

Trying to guess what team Murray will pick is never easy and this week is no different.

I'm really hopeful that last Friday's season was the start of getting our season going again so will predict a hard-fought away win.

We played Tomlinson against Airdrie who is a right winger and had played, combined over 3 games…about 10 minutes of senior football at right back. The reason for this was a recommendation from McGeady who had been doing 1 to 1 coaching with him. He played 15 minutes at Ibrox at right back and did well.
Against Airdrie he was given a bit of a towsing and was done with a “need to buy a ticket to get back in the game” nutmeg that led to Airdries first goal. He was hooked at half time and I don’t think he’ll be there on Saturday, he maybe needs to grow in to it rather than flung in to it.

It’ll most likely be a centre back at right back, Stanger probably.

  13. Ayr are going in to this one without a right back which is marginally worse than going in to it with our right back. We are also missing Jamie Murphy which is huge. He seems to manage 60-70 minutes these days before limping off so we can play without him fairly well but he n dictates a lot of what we do when he starts. Chalmers will come back in I’d assume.
We will probably play Stanger at right back which will make us unbalanced, Reading won’t have the same protection that Murphy offers. It’s very much a game we need to either control the midfield or push Raith back like Bullens teams used to.

Not hugely confident but we have been a more solid team of late. Raith looked to have well and truly shat their collective pants until last Friday. 2-2 Draw. 2 sendings off and 2 penalties. Probably both against Ayr.
