  1. Quite surprised that the St Mirren support wasnt bigger given the start to the season. I understand the season ticket argument, but the Motherwell support didnt have it on their season ticket either and I would suggest 1400 is probably up on our usual attendance in Paisley. Of course away fans tend to be your more hardcore anyway so if the match was at Fir Park we might have seen roles reversed. Maybe a hangover from the summer holidays? Anyway. Well done on your victory. Good luck in the next round.
  2. Maguire was an honest grafter who fitted well in an Alexander team but not so much for Hammell or SK. He will probably earn more where he is going and be more suited to the level. Good luck to him. As for Efford. Looked good in Hammells 4-3-3 but hard to see how he fits into an SK 3-5-2. Good option off the bench right now, but wouldnt be surprised to see him move on.
  3. Expect a very close fought game between 2 evenly matched sides. Impossible to predict the outcome, but recent games have been pretty entertaining, so expect more of the same. Should be a big crowd. I reckon it will got to extra time and penalties with an ex-player scoring the winner!
  4. It worked last week, so....... Feed the Bair Feed the Bair Feed the Bair
  5. Will be really interesting to see what happens to Hibs this year. Certainly the Nisbet transfer cash makes it easier to pay transfer fees when you already have a solid fanbase that covers the day to day running of a premiership club. But you still have to spend it wisely. Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen have all spent significantly more than us in the last few seasons and havent been streets ahead of us on the pitch. And lets not forget what happened to Dundee United last season! They arent alone of course. We havent exactly been the most prudent in the last couple of seasons with our recruitment, so its more important than ever that we get it right this season and stabilise the ship going forward. SK has done a fantastic job so far. Here's hoping that his signings will all come good and we can give the city clubs (outside the uglies) a run for their money.
  6. Really enjoyable game of football on a tricky pitch. Well done to the Dundee groundstaff for getting the game on/finished. Thought both teams played some nice stuff at times. The boy McCowan looks a player. Very impressed with him. Very unlucky not to get a goal which he would have deserved. Thought we played really well on the transition, with just the final pass eluding us or holding up in the water a lot of the time. A point was about right. Both teams will probably play worse this season and win.
  7. That really annoyed me at the game. Probably wouldnt have made any difference to the result, as we didnt get the better of the Dundee defence at set pieces all game, but how the referee or indeed his linesman cant see the change of direction of that ball is a mystery! We will gloss over Caseys pit-a-pat with the ball in Kellys hands though.
  8. Can play centre half too! Nice wee cameo there. Just showing SK he can adapt!
  9. Bit touchy! I wasnt questioning you! Just the ever reliable weather forecasting! See you at 3pm boys! I love a good old fashioned game on a mudbath!
  10. Not sure about that forecast! Im in St Andrews and it has been dry all morning! Sky did look dark to the north mind you, although not so bad now!
  11. Is there anywhere within reasonable walking distance of the ground to park? Aware of the residents parking restrictions in the immediate vicinity.
  12. I wasnt suggesting it was like for like. But SK has said bodies need to go out the door before more come in and thats the positions I think we need cover. McGinn should be first choice RCB and Luca Ross isnt a defender, so we have SOD who is doing a job, but isnt as dynamic going forward as Max was. You could argue we need more cover at LWB, but we have Soare and I though Ewan Wilson looked a decent back up. Signing someone else would block his development.
  13. I think Lamie, McGinley, Maguire and possibly Efford could be the ones still to leave / be loaned out. That would leave room for a RWB, Midfielder and Forward. 4 out 3 in and I think we might start to look in decent shape. Wouldnt be against keeping Efford as he does have pace and was looking better last season until his injury. Not sure SK agrees though.
  14. Brings back 80's memories of a full Hampden under the lights........ Feed The Bair Feed The Bair Feed The Bair Thank you!
  15. Still too early to call how this one will go. We have had a decent, if somewhat unspectacular League Cup campaign doing just enough in most of the games without blowing anyone away. Dundee clearly still have work to do having just missed out despite losing only the one game. Home advantage should favour Dundee, but our away form under Kettlewell has been superb. Travelling up for this one, first time to Dens in many years, so looking forward to it!
  16. Thought all the goals were pretty decent. I know some are saying the Millers was a "sclaff" but it clips the heel of the East Fife player on the way passed, so whilst the deflection may have assisted the goal, I dont think he mishit it. Pleased for Wilkinson. Good to get the monkey off gis back early doors. Hopefully he will take confidence from it and can kick on a bit. We need to see a bit more from him.
  17. Really hard to say from that footage whether the red card is deserved or not. Doesnt seem a lot in it, but you cant really see what has happened very well. In Johnny Pages defence, he was never that sort of player in his time with us, so I would be surprised if he has deliberately stamped or booted an opponent. Although thats not to say he still didnt endanger him.
  18. Thats the best description of Mandron Ive seen! He will undoubtedly "do a job" but it wont look pretty. We werent in a position to keep him and Obika. Injury record apart, I still think we have the better player.
  19. Absolutely this. I would have thought our fans would be learning "Kettlespeak" by now. Its similar to the Mandron situation where he was even able to be complimentary about the player even though it was clear he had signed Obika over him. We've helped McGinley get back to full fitness after whatever difficulties he has had. That reflects well on us. If we want to get McGinley another club and move him on, we need to convince other clubs that he has something to offer them. You dont do that by telling the world he is shite. Soare is clearly no.1 pick at LWB for now (albeit he is way short of fitness) and Ewan Wilson has played more minutes than McGinley. Even if he is in the plans, it will be as a back up so pretty much the same situation as Lamie and Mugabi. PS I agree that those booing McGinley onto the park are out of order.
  20. Also note how much better the strip looks with a more subtle sponsor logo! I know companies pay to get noticed, but...........
  21. Thats fair enough comment. I would say though that if SK did fancy him in the team and saw him as integral, he is under contract and we would probably be playing hard ball for a fee. I would accept he is probably agnostic on the matter though. Be i teresting to see who else manages to find themselves a new club.
  22. Sad it didnt work out for Sheilds, as others have said, he was largely a victim of circumstance and poor management. I wouldnt have been devestated to see him given a chance through the middle in the League Cup games alongside Wilkinson or Obika to see if it would boost his confidence and get something out of him. However, its clear SK doesnt fancy him, so like Danzaki, best for both parties to move on.
