  1. Can play centre half too! Nice wee cameo there. Just showing SK he can adapt!
  2. Bit touchy! I wasnt questioning you! Just the ever reliable weather forecasting! See you at 3pm boys! I love a good old fashioned game on a mudbath!
  3. Not sure about that forecast! Im in St Andrews and it has been dry all morning! Sky did look dark to the north mind you, although not so bad now!
  4. Is there anywhere within reasonable walking distance of the ground to park? Aware of the residents parking restrictions in the immediate vicinity.
  5. I wasnt suggesting it was like for like. But SK has said bodies need to go out the door before more come in and thats the positions I think we need cover. McGinn should be first choice RCB and Luca Ross isnt a defender, so we have SOD who is doing a job, but isnt as dynamic going forward as Max was. You could argue we need more cover at LWB, but we have Soare and I though Ewan Wilson looked a decent back up. Signing someone else would block his development.
  6. I think Lamie, McGinley, Maguire and possibly Efford could be the ones still to leave / be loaned out. That would leave room for a RWB, Midfielder and Forward. 4 out 3 in and I think we might start to look in decent shape. Wouldnt be against keeping Efford as he does have pace and was looking better last season until his injury. Not sure SK agrees though.
  7. Brings back 80's memories of a full Hampden under the lights........ Feed The Bair Feed The Bair Feed The Bair Thank you!
  8. Still too early to call how this one will go. We have had a decent, if somewhat unspectacular League Cup campaign doing just enough in most of the games without blowing anyone away. Dundee clearly still have work to do having just missed out despite losing only the one game. Home advantage should favour Dundee, but our away form under Kettlewell has been superb. Travelling up for this one, first time to Dens in many years, so looking forward to it!
  9. Thought all the goals were pretty decent. I know some are saying the Millers was a "sclaff" but it clips the heel of the East Fife player on the way passed, so whilst the deflection may have assisted the goal, I dont think he mishit it. Pleased for Wilkinson. Good to get the monkey off gis back early doors. Hopefully he will take confidence from it and can kick on a bit. We need to see a bit more from him.
  10. Really hard to say from that footage whether the red card is deserved or not. Doesnt seem a lot in it, but you cant really see what has happened very well. In Johnny Pages defence, he was never that sort of player in his time with us, so I would be surprised if he has deliberately stamped or booted an opponent. Although thats not to say he still didnt endanger him.
  11. Thats the best description of Mandron Ive seen! He will undoubtedly "do a job" but it wont look pretty. We werent in a position to keep him and Obika. Injury record apart, I still think we have the better player.
  12. Absolutely this. I would have thought our fans would be learning "Kettlespeak" by now. Its similar to the Mandron situation where he was even able to be complimentary about the player even though it was clear he had signed Obika over him. We've helped McGinley get back to full fitness after whatever difficulties he has had. That reflects well on us. If we want to get McGinley another club and move him on, we need to convince other clubs that he has something to offer them. You dont do that by telling the world he is shite. Soare is clearly no.1 pick at LWB for now (albeit he is way short of fitness) and Ewan Wilson has played more minutes than McGinley. Even if he is in the plans, it will be as a back up so pretty much the same situation as Lamie and Mugabi. PS I agree that those booing McGinley onto the park are out of order.
  13. Also note how much better the strip looks with a more subtle sponsor logo! I know companies pay to get noticed, but...........
  14. Thats fair enough comment. I would say though that if SK did fancy him in the team and saw him as integral, he is under contract and we would probably be playing hard ball for a fee. I would accept he is probably agnostic on the matter though. Be i teresting to see who else manages to find themselves a new club.
  15. Sad it didnt work out for Sheilds, as others have said, he was largely a victim of circumstance and poor management. I wouldnt have been devestated to see him given a chance through the middle in the League Cup games alongside Wilkinson or Obika to see if it would boost his confidence and get something out of him. However, its clear SK doesnt fancy him, so like Danzaki, best for both parties to move on.
  16. Very encouraging comments! Here's hoping he is the kinda guy who just needs a club where he fits, and that club is us. As others have said. We have a record of that kind of signing. Lets hope history repeats!
  17. Scotland v N.Ireland in a World Cup Qualifier in 1981. The game ended in a 1-1 draw. Dont remember too much about it apart from the crowd being huge and having to watch the game perched on a fence at the back of the East Terrace! Back in the days when you could buy your tickets from A&T Mays in Lanark High Street! Of course we qualified for our 3rd World Cup in a row and as a 12 year old I was absolutely hooked! Love the "Old Lady". Despite all her faults, she's still got it......
  18. Cheers bud. So a speculative signing and certainly wont be ahead of Sheilds who already has folk wanting him out the door. Best to be realistic. Announce Dipo!
  19. Any murmurings about whether he impressed in Holland and he could develop into the real deal?
  20. I would imagine we are looking at a squad of 22 with 2 players for each position and supplementing with youth players if required. That being the case there will undoubtedly need to be some of our current squad going out the door if we are looking to freshen things up. Kelly / Oxborough SOD / McGinn / Bevis Butcher/ Blaney / Lamie McGinley / Miller / Slattery Spittal / Tierney Efford / Paton Obika / Shields / Fowler Probably raises serious questions over the future of Danzaki and Maguire as I dont see where there is a place for them in a trimmed down squad, and thats before we even look at getting a replacement for Goss. I would suggest we need to be looking at 2 full backs, 1 centre back, 1 midfielder and 1 striker. Some of the younger boys may end up taking those spaces if we cant move anyone on.
  21. Tait was very good for us in his first couple of seasons and seemed just as comfortable on the left as he did on the right. But something happened in that close season when he came back he seemed to have lost a yard of pace and looked like he was towing a caravan. It was all very strange as he is a super fit guy and seemed to take care of himself very well. I did wonder at the time if he hadnt put on too much muscle with the whole crossfit thing and it had an adverse effect on his pace. Was a shame how it ended with us, but bygones and all that. Wish him well with whatever the future holds.
  22. Regardless of the fee incoming, getting the KVV deal done early does give Kettlewell a bit more scope to start getting some of his own targets in early. We know Kev is going, its just a matter of how much for and where to. Freeing up his wage knowing there is a fee also forthcoming should take a bit of the pressure off.
  23. I would say £500k for KVV is disappointing on the basis of the value of his goals to our team. However, I also agree that you have to consider his age and what was agreed when he signed his contract extension. It may well he that £500k triggers a release clause. Hopefully the add ons are good/realistic and we have already identified a replacement. As for Carroll. Was very good going forward, but poor defensivley. Rarely stopped a cross coming into the box. Might have thrived in our current 3-5-2 but the manager clearly has other plans.
