  1. We tried having a go in the League Cup tie and just got picked off. Suspect we may be a little more pragmatic on this occasion. Would love to see us change formation and start with KVV and Moult up top, but given the quick turnaround from the weekend it seems unlikely. I reckon we might keep it a bit tighter this time round but Celtic to grind us down and win 2-0.
  2. If we had got what we deserved against United and Hearts, our home form and season in general would be looking quite decent.
  3. To be fair, that should have been a yellow. But if it was given I dont think Lamie makes the challenge he was booked for, so your red card is a bit like the horsing we would have suffered, a figment of your imagination......
  4. Joining this debate late so not read all the posts. Whilst, Im pretty realistic and dont expect VAR to pick up on everything, Im astonished that even the most ardent Aberdeen fan would think the Lamie incident shouldnt have been picked up. Your manager saw it from the half way line and was concerned enough to ask if there was a check being carried out. This one went against us, and fair play to you for getting the 3 points. But dont pretend you wouldnt have been absolutely raging if the same had happened to you.
  5. Was thinking about coming round the City bypass and into Easter Road from the Portobello side. Is that a stupid idea?
  6. With everyone heading through to witness a goalfest, get yer money on a 0-0 draw!
  7. First half we were solid if unspectacular. Probably just about deserved to be in front at the break but not by much. Second half performance was different class. Some really good performances and some really good goals. Disappointed Moult was denied yet again, but hopeful his first goal back in Claret & Amber will be meaningful. Well done Hammy. Your team is worth following!
  8. Kettlewell seems like a good appointment. Surprised its the lead coach job he has got. Makes you wonder who is going to get the Academy Director role.......
  9. Having read back this and the match thread, you are right. My feel for the repsonse to the Celtic result is definitely being negatively influenced by sources elsewhere. Think I need to hang out here more to retain a more balanced perspective!
  10. For me this is it. Imagine we had got a draw v Hearts, which is the very least we deserved on the quality of our play and chances created. We would then be be above St Johnstone and level with Hearts and within striking distance of Hibs come the weekend. Had KVV converted our penalty v Dundee Utd it would be another deserved 3 points and we are sitting quite nicely thank you. Its all fine margins. I think folk are panicking as we are in the middle of a tough run of games and should we lose them all, things would start to look a little bit tricky. However, my experience of following Motherwell for nearly 50 years is that we nearly never ever win the games we expect to and always seem to pull a result out of nowhere when you least expect it. So we didnt get what we wanted from our last 2 home games. But Im willing to bet we get more than 0 points during this current difficult run of fixtures.
  11. I think within the wider support that is definitely the case. But you only need to read some of the reponses in the Celtic game thread and on Steelmen Online to get my point. As for Twitter, deary me! I guess its maybe just a trait of human nature that people are more likely to post something when they are unhappy about something rather than when its going well. I just get frustrated that there is often no balance or understanding shown. Im not for a minute saying everything in the garden is rosy, or we couldnt very quickly find ourselves in a tricky situation if results dont improve. But give me where we are right now over "murderball" every time.
  12. Football fans in general are all sugar or shite. I dont know whether ours are any better or worse, but some of the reactions to our recent results are somewhat depressing. The majority wanted to see the end to the eye bleeding, mind numbing shite we had to endure under Alexander. We have had that and some. Its unfortunate that we took only 1 point against Dundee United and Hearts given the performance levels, the chances created and entertainment provided. But we cant be losing our shit right now when we are a work in progress. This is a tough run of games, and yes we might slip down the table during this period. But the fixtures will even out over the season, and hopefully by the time they do our form will kick in and our important players will hit top form. Goals are an issue right now, but we have signed Moult in that regard and he has barely been seen as yet. Hammell is having to manage a squad not of his own making and I trust him to get it right. We just need to stay calm and show some patience. That said, 3 points on Tuesday night would be huge and by us some time.
  13. Hearts 1 - 1 Rangers Aberdeen 1 -2 Killie Celtic 5 - 1 Motherwell Dundee Utd 2 - 0 St Johnstone Ross County 1 - 0 Hibs St Mirren 0 - 1 Livvy
  14. I think this has the potential to be an exciting high scoring game. Both teams look more accomplished going forward with both defences having their deficiencies. However, we do have 2 of the best goalkeepers in the league on show so probably a 0-0!
  15. Very promising young right back. Not sure how well he did at QoS, but on the few occasions he got game time for us he never looked out of place. From memory, appeared quite pacey. A lot of our support expected him to be back up to SOD this year, but then GA went out and signed Paul McGinn.
  16. I dont know enough about whats happening with the reserve league to comment on how it has been set up. However, I definitely think its beneficial for us to be able to get minutes for our fringe players so that they are able to make an impact when they get their opportunity. SOD, Bevis, Cornelius, Maguire, McKinstry, Aarons Shields and Moult will all have big parts to play in our season going forward.
  17. Maybe not. But if they are the highest bidder and secured exclusivety they probably dont have any interest in doing so. Probably a bigger condemnation on the ruling bodies who failed to negotiate with them any possibility of a highlights package available to a wider audience. Unless you actually go to the games (which this ko time hampers) then you are not going to see any League Cup football under this broadcaster. Thats not good for the profile of the competition.
  18. They are only interested in the 2 live games for the uglies. They could easy have offered up a highlights package to the BBC so the rest of us could feed of the scraps as usual.
  19. What an utterly shite kick off time for a game of football! Thanks Premier Sports!
  20. The difference between these players under Stevie Hammell, and the same players under GA is nothing short of astounding. I always thought that the players were better than they were being allowed to show in the previous "system", but Im not sure I was prepared for just how big and just how quickly the change could/would be made. I defended GA up to a point when he was getting results and hoped that he had a strategy in place to improve us over time, but with hindsight, it is clear that the strategy was just wrong the whole time. Regardless of results (which hopefully will come) how good is it to enjoy watching our team again?
  21. When you have watched 3 years of turgid shite any small rays of positivity are very welcome!
  22. An experienced player like Snodgrass who has Premiership quality could be a very useful addition to this squad. Not for a minute comparing him to Cooper, but its the kind of signing that can have impact beyond his current ability. It can raise standards and provide a leadership in the dressing room that we appear to have been missing.
  23. Jelly Tot, all day long! Doesnt everyone peel the glazed cherry off with a knife and stick it in the bin?
