  1. Rangers never ask for favours, it's just expected others will agree. An arrogance amongst your boardroom that they've never earned.
  2. Rangers forgot to request this weekend as an away game, due to the Great Scottish Run being scheduled for midday on Saturday/Sunday and running past the stadium. Their solution was to demand we switch the game to McDiarmid at short notice, which was denied, so led to a kick off time that sees most of their support shafted for getting back from the game.
  3. It was remarkable to see how far Celtic declined during the period Rangers weren't in the top flight. Even their crowds seemed to plummet. We were genuinely edging towards Aberdeen getting close to a proper title challenge when Rangers reappeared and Celtic decided to go for Brendan Rodgers to combat that, and he turned them into a club that nobody can compete with.
  4. Aye. It probably leads to us being thumped, but I'd be tempted to go bold as f**k for the game tbh. Tavernier was subbed off for the first time I can remember, and if he starts on Sunday then you know that anything he does wrong is seeing the fans turn on him/the team. Get someone with pace running at him, or just sitting in the space he leaves, and see if you can get the fans against them early on.
  5. Cracking article in The Courier about the manager search. Way I've read it is... - Tommy Wright didnt show an interest in the job or would've been in the running - Valakari and Scott Brown interviewed last Wednesday, Browns side leaked his name - Brown told them he was inclined to stay at Ayr but wanted to sleep on, "second attempt" at getting him was just checking he hadn't changed his mind after he'd slept on it - Lynch/Leven interviewed last Friday, Leven wasn't considered after the interview - Lynch and Valakari approached over wage demands - Lynch wage, plus his two assistants who he wouldn't move without, was deemed a massive expense and not worth it due to his CV compared to Valakari - Valakari agreed everything in principle but wanted to wait until after Rigas weekend game before leaving
  6. Yeah the Champions League has killed domestic football almost everywhere tbh, it's only the very elite leagues, where other incomes swallow the gap to Champions League income, that remain vaguely competitive at the top. The only thing the SPFL could do would be to force any club earning the CL money to split it evenly amongst other clubs in the league, but that's not really fair and probably inadvertently stunts potential growth too if someone does happen to do that unexpectedly.
  7. Aye. Hammill couldn't move country until he turned 16. Was reported Celtic/Rangers tried to sign him at 15, but he rejected both and agreed to join Arsenal next Summer instead. Compensation we're getting is apparently ~£110k.
  8. Seen a theory that Russia, Iran, and China, are cycling through attacks on US allies to spread them as thin as possible. Russia go for Ukraine/NATO, Iran go for Israel, China go for Taiwan. That's the US trying to support 3 different nations, in 3 different conflicts, in 3 different parts of the world. Idea is you grind their military and financial power down without them ever entering an outright war as they can't pick just one and can't do all three. Sounds like a bollocks theory tbh but be interesting to see if things escalate in Taiwan this year.
  9. FWIW I don't think you could play him until January if you did sign him. Free agents have to have been released when the transfer window was open to be able to play for another club, otherwise the club that held their registration when the deadline passed will hold it until the transfer window opens at their new club.
  10. I have to say, I enjoy how whenever we're mentioned on steelmenonline theres always someone whos claiming we're skint.
  11. Imagine the past year with Droopy and Drippy monotonous voices droning on as they flump around the training pitch and dressing room, suddenly being replaced by this c**t who's full of ideas and enthusiasm. If players can't up their game and find a new level then they'd be aswell chucking it tbh. This is the perfect opportunity for them.
  12. I think St Mirren fans thought he done really well in a similar job for them, tbh.
  13. Sounds like MacPherson having to take a more active role in things now?
  14. Well, like, that's just your opinion, man. See its being reported that, regardless of when Valakari is hired/announced, Kirk/Cleland will take charge of the game v Rangers then the International break will be used to implement exactly what Valakari wants.
  15. Aye I don't think there's much point getting het up about Kirk, really. If he's kept around it'll be in a much lesser role than Levein had him in, and it'll likely see him away to the next lower league job he can get as manager. Valakari doesn't seem to f**k about either so if he doesn't want him there then that'll happen. He'll probably just want to come in, get settled and start moving things his own way, including coaching wise, once he's given those at the club a chance.
  16. Does the BBC reporting Simo Valakari joined Riga "halfway through the season" count? He joined them last December, which is between seasons in Latvia as they play March-November.
  17. Rae Keltjens - Neilson - Cameron - Raymond Smith - Holt Wright - Franczak - Kimpioka Sidibeh Could genuinely see him playing that tbh.
  18. Completely forgot about this, sorry. This the best I can find.
  19. Aye I'm sure he says November/December time for it to get more accurate. Assume our demolition by Celtic has dropped us a fair whack.
