Goss sounds exactly like what we needed based on everyone's comments, can't remember seeing him play before though so a case of waiting and seeing on that one.

I wouldn't bet on it, being released today means he can sign for another club later on, if he'd been released outwith the window he couldn't. The fact we've tried to punt him for, at least, the last month, and he's not left, maybe speaks volumes for how he's done here.

As expected really. I doubt anyone wanted to "swap" Anderson for Keown at this end, but it wouldn't be fair at all to Anderson to leave him rotting on the bench at this stage of his career.

Anderson is fourth choice with us for a reason. If he feels like he wants to be playing regularly for the final year or two of his career then he deserves the chance to get it, but he's clearly not getting it here this season. I'd rather take a punt on Keown, who's shown he can play at a high level in this division before, than some absolute random like Krachunov/Jahic, which I assume was the plan with that Zouma character last week, if this deal fell through. I'm loathe to believe fans of other clubs about players "attitude" aswell, Thistle fans literally lashed out at every player in their squad last season. Its not a great deal, but I'm not as worried about it as I would've been six months ago.

Into the Quarter Finals of the Betfred Cup with Dumbarton. Beat St Johnstone 1-0 at home in the last round, they finished 3rd last season and have McInnes as manager, as far as I can tell they played their strongest 11. Best result I've had in this save so far. Dundee up next, who roll about the bottom half of the top flight, I played them in one of my first two seasons and had a 2-1 lead, before Forbes missed a penalty and fatigue led us to a 3-2 loss. So harbouring dreams of a Semi Final.

Tbf we regularly sign an absolute dross player simply to make up the numbers, Keown will take Andersons role as 4th choice CB, which means it won't be a complete disaster if one gets injured. Can only guess Anderson is desperate for regular game, think he's only played 3/4 times this season and hasn't even made the pitch when we've gone with a back three, and out of respect we've allowed him to go. Fwiw, since it's being mentioned a lot elsewhere, he's not been our captain for a while now.

Combine this with Kerr signing a new deal with us, and it's maybe the beginning of young Scots realising that playing regularly up here is far better for their development than rotting at some English non-entity.

Can't get too excited, have to remember that "if Barnsley want him, Barnsley will get him"..
